Crochet Twist Front and Twist Back Cable Stitch Tutorial
This video shows how to do a basic cable stitch in crochet. This cable stitch has 1 post-stitch and 1 single crochet stitch made in a twist. The two versions of this twist stitch can be combined to make a v-cable shown in the image. This tutorial is designed to provide the information to make the TBS stitch (Twist Back Stitch) and TFS stitch (Twist Front Stitch) in the patterns from Rebecca's Stylings. Alternatively, you can use this tutorial to make a headband with the two cable stitches.
The Chambord Cable Blanket is shown on the video thumbnail. This pattern uses the stitch in this video and can be accessed at the links below:

    Thank you so much for this video explanation! I’ve tried cabling many different times with other patterns (not yours) and I couldn’t figure out why the stitches seemed to be pointed “in the wrong direction” from what was pictured. Then, I watched your video and the clouds parted, the light shone, the choir sung!! I can’t believe I was doing cabling all wrong all this time!! Cannot WAIT to finish the project I’m working on (the Aberdeen Cable Scarf💙). Thanks again and have a lovely day!!

    Please slow down as you do the demonstration!! A demo video is for those of us who need help in seeing what we're supposed to do. I'm trying to count the 4th stitch from the hook and you're already halfway thru that row. Since it's a demo and haven't shown a pattern, I don't know that an extended single crochet is coming next. You say single, but then do extended. I appreciate that you verbalize each stitch, but maybe say the next stitch first, then do it slowly a couple of times while verbalizing the steps. I've already had to stop and replay it 4-5 times and I'm only on the first row after "chain 9". I kept watching and tried to follow the demo, but you win! I give up! At least I only wasted $3 on your patterns. I won't be buying any more much as I like their appearance.

      it's an extended triple crochet front post stitch to create a little more space. a traditional post-stitch will also work but the work will be a little tighter

    This video is so misleading and only a come-on for her Ravelry page. All you learn here is a basic cable stitch, the same one you can learn on almost any other crochet channel-- and taught a lot better than she does here. It is NOT the Aberdeen Cable Blanket shown in the thumbnail. That goes against RUclips policy because the thumbnail is supposed to be relevant to the content. Because of this, it is very offensive and, clearly, Rebecca does not understand how RUclips works. I wouldn't even mind buying the pattern but WAS IT TESTED? After it was written, did the designer give it to someone who had never done the pattern before and, following only those instructions, successfully produce the same item? Back in the old days of real publication, this used to be a standard part of the publishing process for any kind of instructions. It is the key element often overlooked today. And we suffer for it. WAS THIS TESTED?

    I am sorry too to say that you are not very consistance in your crochet language. One time you are calling it a FST, and the next time it is a BTS. I think what you are making is great, and as I watch the crocheting I can break it down into a correct pattern but it took bit of playing and rewinding to get that was happneing here. Thank you for the work but maybe write out a script first of how you are doing the pattern and what each step is and the proper terminalogy. Keep trying, it will get there. Again thanks for your hard work. We do apprecaite it.

    It's really a pity you don't understand the value of RUclips videos. Or, maybe, you just want the quick sale of your patterns, without bothering with anything else. Whichever it is, it behooves you to know that posting a thumbnail of something other than what is actually discussed or shown is considered deceptive and can reported as Misinformation or as Spam or Misleading. I KNOW how to make a basic cable. No offence but I, for one, would never purchase a pattern until I had at least read through a previous pattern by the same designer that demonstrated they were able to write a pattern clearly and accurately. Being able to design and being able to write are two different things. And I have seen patterns (not by you but by others with the same objective) that are so disorganized and poorly written that they make no sense whatsoever. Everyone thinks they can write-- and few ever have their patterns tested to be sure they are accurate.

    Is that supposed to be a front post treble crochet or something different? A fptc is yarn over twice, pull through 2 loops, yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over and pull through the last two loops. I've never seen it being pulled through just one loop first. What stitch is that? Also, the lighting and angle are a little hard to see. Zoom helps a lot, though. What is the stitch count for this pattern if we want to expand it? How many stitches plus what to change the size? I'd love to try a blanket on this with a repetitive pattern. It's gorgeous. Thank you for sharing! :)

    After many hours, I've figured it out!!! If she says around any stitch, it means post, not the top stitch you would normally work into. Hope that's helpful. My best advice is to print out the instructions so you can have the definitions next to the step by step. Make sure when you are wrapping around the post and to check the instructions to see if you are working in front or behind what you had just made it changes often. The printout also helps alot with the definitions that have abbreviation in them as well to keep track of what needs to be done.

    I have never seen anyone “pull through one” (pull thru 2, etc) on a double or triple crochet?? (Yarn over 2x and pull thru 2 loops 2x for a dc without any pull thru 1). Is this special stitch and why is it not defined as a special stitch? Are all stitches done with the extra pull thru 1 throughout the pattern?? (Not just the crossed stitches). Is there a reason why this isn’t defined in the pattern.

    • @andreakraus778
      @andreakraus778 Год назад

      I believe the author is making what is known as an "extended" dc/tc. Many designers use this technique if they are making a lot of special stitches and don't want the final project to scrunch up or be too tight. Considering that this video is a supplement to her designs (which is why I came here since I'm working the Pebble Cove cable scarf), the extra chain in some of the stitches increases its height and allows the cables to lay flatter. I personally found this an interesting alternative to help with other designs, and suggest that for people who tend to crochet tightly, this is a great way to give your finished object more loft without deviating from the pattern. Personally, I think the designer did a fine job here, certainly better than I could have.!

But Row 4 is so confusing that I can't follow it to end up at the right place with the right stitches at the first TBS, TFS. I keep trying to look at the picture to get my work at the right place and its just not happening. Could you please do a tutorial specifically on row 4 of your pattern? I’m not sure she’s doing this correctly. I think you yo, pull through one, then yo, pull through two 3 times, not yo pull through one, then yo pull through one, then yo pull through 3 times. It’s also a little clunky the way she does the back post crochets. I’ve crocheted a few blankets that had those beautiful braids. It should lay very flat and smoothly and not “pull” to a side.

    Honestly thankyou for this, its a nice short cut reference to see exactly where I'm supposed to be building the intricate stitches. I've been trying to accomplish an unrelated cable for years and its been sitting on basically the last row in the video. I was having a hard time with the concept of "behind the other stitches but still a front post". Thankyou for this little tidbit lol.
