I love your tutorials, but I would love them even more if you would use light colored yarn for your videos. It's much easier to see the stitches, especially when you're doing these cables. I love the color Fig that you used, but it would make it easier to see if you would use a lighter color. Thanks so much for all your helpful video tutorials. They have helped me immensely.
Thanks for the suggestion! The trouble I run into with lighter colored yarns is that they reflect the light. Especially on a light background, it can get lost. Sigh. I'm still trying to find the perfect color that is easy to see and doesn't reflect light and look washed out!
I hadn't thought about light reflection. You don't have to go much lighter on the color - it's just the real dark colors that make it difficult to see the stitches. I still loved it and got the hang of it really fast. Thanks for your video.
Use a light taupe, dark cream, light blue, or some other light to mid tone hue. I agree, it would have been easier to see the stitches with a lighter color yarn.
Light blues, light purple and pinks work really well.

i don't understand all the negative comments. i tried cabling before from other videos and never got it. your video explains it very well and you stay at an excellent pace too. i could easily keep up with you and was able to do it very well. thank you very much! xx
#SojoudHussien I don't think they're being negative (except one was rude and mean) I think they are just letting her know it's hard to see the stitches with the dark yarn and they were offering her suggestions in a nice way. They stated that they love her channel and her work.**Also, just wanted to point out that not everyone is as fast as you. Since this is an instructional video, most ppl watching are doing so to learn and if they feel she is going too fast for them to learn, they are just letting her know that.
**My tip, rather than trying to keep backing up the video, there is an option under the settings of each video that when you tap/click on it, it shows you a 'speed' option. Just set it to a slower speed and you will be able to watch in slow motion so you don't have to keep trying to rewind to a certain part of the video. I love the slow motion option (there are 2 or 3 speeds to pick from and also options to set it at fast speeds if the instructor is going to slow) This is a great tool to use and I wish more instructors would tell their students about this feature. So much better than having to go back and try to find the exact spot you need.
Thank you for this video! I found it easy to follow regardless of dark yarn. I paused in between each step and used safety pins for stitch markers indicating the skipped stitches until I became comfortable with pattern. After repeating rows 2-5 three times I was fine.
Timestamps middle repeats:
1st repeat crosses on sides 16:33 start off second 3 (2 long fp dc ,1 long front post dc ,4 long fp dc ,3 in front long post double crochet)
2nd repeat crosses in middle 27:47 start off first 3 (1 regular fp dc,3 long front post dc,2 behind long double crochet top of stitch, 4 regular fp dc)
The best tutorial on Celtic knots. I’d watched a few and this is certainly the best one out there. Instructions are clear and I don’t know why you’ve received negative comments
I was clearly able to see the stitches just knowing how to work the particular stitches. OMG this is gorgeous. I really will be learning this. I love that yarn color. WOW factor. Can't wait to use this to make my payer shawl. ❤❤❤

I've done cables in the past. But it's been so long I've forgotten. I watched a couple other videos but the ladies were so long winded about telling you what not to do. Thank you for explaining what "to do" as opposed to what " what not to do"

Thank you for this super tutorial. I am a beginner at crocheting, and found your tutorial challenging, but easy to follow. I had to review a few times, pausing to get my stitches caught up to yours, but I actually did it! I actually made cables! A lighter yarn might have been easier to see, but I was able to follow your tutorial without difficulty- even with my old eyes :) Ignore those negative comments- can't understand why folks have to say those things. Your tutorial expanded my crocheting horizons. Thank you for sharing your talent!!

I must add a little note. Row2 when working on the skipped sts of the megabraid, the written instructions on the website says "Long FpDc into the top of the sts" which contradicts the videos instructions where you clearly state to work a Dc on the top *but no Fp*. I will consider the video instructions to be the final word of course, the braids are awesome.
I actually found your tutorial to be great! I made a big chunky scarf....not perfect but for a first time try it’s lovely!!!

Love this thank you for being thorough. I’m working on a crazy modification for a big blanket I’ll show you once I’m done. I learned cables as like one of the first things I ever did after learning how to crochet cuz I wanted a scarf like this. So I found this vid, buckled down, & learned what I didn’t even know was one of the most complicated patterns 😂 now I’m making it even more complicated. Ik for a fact I’m using thinner yarn but it’s soft & fluffy so it takes up space but in the future I def wanna avoid how many holes end up being visible with this thinner yarn so I was wondering what weight (idk if that’s the proper term lol) you used & what size hook? Mine says 4 & says to use 6.5 hook but I’m using a 4.5 to get those holes smaller & make it more uniform

Hi !! When you say long double crochet ?? Why not a trebble ??? TFS
She is using extended double croshet, which I believe is very slightly shorter than a treble croshet. Extended just adds a single extra loop to a regular double croshet. A treble would be adding 2 extra loops. Hope that helps. ;) You could likley do the whole pattern with treble instead, but I think it might make the sample slightly taller at the end, but possibly there would not be too much difference.

Have you tried viewing the video full screen on a desktop or laptop? That can help a lot! I didn't want to zoom in too much and lose where we were with respect to the whole piece and make things more confusing.
This is a really nice cable pattern and you are a great teacher, but like others have said the yarn is too dark for the detailed stitching. You said you are having a hard time figuring out colors and lighting. Check out The Crochet Crowd "How to Crochet a Cable Blanket" he has a totally white background and is using taupe yarn. The yarn doesn't look washed out and the white background isn't glaring. Thank you for your hard work making this video for us. I hope you get the yarn color figured out...your patterns are wonderful!
As a professional , you certainly know that dark colors are far more difficult to see the stitches than if you used a lighter color.
You explain things well, but because you used that dark coir I’ve given you a this down.
Hi! I want to make a good size blanket with this pattern. How would I do that? Would I just restart at the end of this group with the same pattern? Like so many sets of 27 and work them almost individual like? I appreciate any help!?
To widen the blanket you use any multiple of 24 (not 27) plus 3. The plus three is for your turning stich. To double it it would be 48 + 3 = 51
Could this be used to make a short hooded sweater that comes falls down to one's hips? If so could give me some suggestions please. I'm just starting and I would love to attempt to make a hooded sweater if it were possible. And I absolutely fell in love with that swatch especially in that color.
Hi, Ashleigh! I loved your tutorial and am going to work on a practice square before tackling a blanket. Is this expanded in multiples of 24 + 3? Also, at the end of each row, directions state chain 3, but it looks like you chain 2 in the tutorial. Am I missing something? (I am brand new to crochet, so that is entirely possible :) Thanks in advance!

Hi there 👋🏼 I know this was posted forever ago so I’m not sure if you’ll see this but do you think it’s possible to do this stitch in the round? I want to make some boot cuff leg warmers with cable crochet but for all the tutorials I see this stitch is done in flats rows. I didn’t know if this was simply because that’s how most stitches are practiced or if it was necessary for the stitch. Thanks!

I'm relatively new to this but I'm thinking perhaps the treble could be a tad bulkier?
How would I turn this into a blanket do the 27 then another 27 till it’s long enough and treat them as a group of 27? Like do the 27 like you are then the next the same and so on and so forth?
stitch count is 24+3 (24+24+24+3) 24 is the repeat count 3 is for the beginning chain :-)
