People complains that if you put a lot of weight it’ll suck the power quickly but I don’t think people will buy these for hauling services. A couple of sheets of plywood and a dozen 2x4s won’t make much difference. ( by the way who notice the price of wood going to the roof? I mean a 2x4x8’ was 2.30 USD and now is 10.50!) They claim that these trucks will suck lots of power and add a more expensive electrical bill but most of the people I know that have Teslas have already an individual system of solar panels to feed the vehicle.
If most of these are faster then can be used is the power/ battery just a useless expense? What would the cost and range be it they had comparable power to what’s on the road today? How high will the insurance be on the crazy fast models because your kids will try them out. Just some thoughts.
a good part of why electric cars are faster than internal combustion cars is because of how electric motor HP ratings differ from the HP ratings of an ICE. A 50 HP electric motor has 50 HP available for use at 1 RPM. HP ratings for ICE motors are peak ratings and occur at a specific RPM. Peak HP on an electric motor can be 3-4x the listed rating. So a standard car with 200 HP only has 200 HP at, say, 5300 RPM, and has some lesser amount up to that RPM. An electric car with 200 HP will have 200 HP available to turn the wheels the moment you step on the accelerator, and could potentially have a peak HP in the 600-800 range.
There will be enough safety features that will make the insurance rate lower based on the laws in almost all of the states here in the US market. For example, Tesla vehicles are cheaper to insure compared to similarly priced ICE vehicles because of the safety features.
@@user-zq6pj5jo8j the main factors affecting EV range are the weight of the vehicle the rolling resistance and the drag coefficient adding additional Motors does negatively impact the overall range but not by much. Ford will be made in the US, Tesla is made in the US (at Fremont, CA and Austin, TX). The Atlis truck (Phoenix, Arizona), Lordstown Motors (Warren, OH), and Rivian (Normal, Illinois), Bollinger (California) are made in the US
The Endurance is on track for production in September and they have sufficient capital to last until May 2022, and zero debt. So odds of bankruptcy is basically zero.
I invested in Atlis...it's truck. I don't care about 0-60. 20,000 - 30,000 lb. towing, 300-500 mile range depending on battery pack and 15 minutes to fully charge...it's a truck.
@@Screwloose10 I own a tesla and I have had ZERO problems. There is nothing to work on unless with the truck you break an axle or damage it 4 wheeling. This is not an issue...
The moment you decided to put the F150 at Number 2 you broadcast your lack of understanding of the truck space. It is by and far the most significant EV to come to market. Ever. This is the EV version of the world's top selling pickup truck for over 40 years, and for many of those years the most popular vehicle in the world period. The Cybertruck by comparison is a trophy lifestyle purchase made for non-truck people by people who don't know what trucks actually are used for. IT Middle Management will love it however...
The reason the Cybertruck is no 1 on this list is there is an actual factory almost finished, parts are ordered and everything is ready to go. You are right that the Ford is a much more important truck and will vastly outsell the Cybertruck, but for the opposite of the reasons you said. I build boat docks in nw Montana, my trucks go through more than just about any in the country. That's why I run old pickups and medium duty trucks, Ive tried a few new trucks and they wouldn't last a year doing the work I do. sure they can haul a big trailer down the highway at ludicrous speeds but I see what my local utility companies spend on truck repairs and I shake my head. The big three haven't built a tough pickup in years, my 74 IH D200 will do things no stock modern pickup will do, including the F150 Lightning. The Cybertruck on the other hand should be able to take the abuse that I put my other trucks through, I have one on order and plan to use it like I use all my other tools.
I love the Alpha Wolf style, and it’s interesting to see the creativity of all the startups but I’m guessing Ford and Chevy will dominate all early sales. Chevy appears to be poised to deliver plenty of vehicles.
Reminds me of an old Toyota pickup, similar to Marty McFly’s black truck in Back to the Future. Design is nice, but practicality as a pickup is questionable.
Transmissions are necessary for internal combustion (ICE) engine powered vehicles because ICEs don't become efficient until they're revving up to some extent (look at a typical ICE power curve) whereas an electric motor enjoys it's maximum efficiency (essentially, torque per amp) at zero rpms. The torque put out by electric motors is greatest when you're essentially "bogging it down". A lot of manufacturers brag about their ICEs having good "low end" torque, but if you bog down an ICE all the way, it dies. This is why hybrid cars use an electric motor up to about 25 mph and then a small IC engine kicks in, propels the car and recharges the battery for when the hybrid enters stop and go traffic again.

Bollinger is the most exciting, but i'm afraid they'll never make it to production. On Mar 8th, they emailed saying, "deliveries in 1H 2022." On July 16th, they emailed saying, "deliveries in 1H 2023." What are they working on? They've had prototypes for many years. Unfortunately, the Ford F-150 w/ a $40K starting price will be a category killer. Bollinger buyers don't really care about the $125K price tag...in fact it's probably the only thing that's keeping it alive. Ford & Tesla & Hummer will kill the Lordstown and other newcomers, but Bollinger is unique enough...but production delays will mean that the cachet of such a headturner will be extinguised by the time the Cybertruck and Hummer hit the streets in 2022. Bummer, Bollinger.
Totally agree, most of these are dead before they even start. The Bollinger may make it as a high boutique brand. These start up companies need to learn from the Chinese and make a bare bones mini truck in the 20k range if they want to get a foot in the market. Even it's a low speed vehicle
I think MPGE will decrease by 50% if the EV truck is hauling fully loaded. For example, a 300 miles range will have 150 miles range with fully loaded on hauling.
They need to expand the battery production before they can actually put out all of these trucks! F-150 is anticipated to produce only 15,000 in 2022 and 50,000 in 2023. While they produce 500,000 gas F-150's and 250,000 F-250/350's. Ford really needs to build 30,000 MW battery production plants in Kansas City, near the Rouge plant in Michigan and near the F-450 plant in Ohio! With 120,000 + MW of batteries each year, they can consider serious production of trucks in America.
The mindset that flocks to electric cars isn’t the same as those that flock to pickup trucks. A different type of buyer altogether, if you will. This is not a criticism of either.

The die maker has to carve out everything in that block of steel, so that the fender can fit down into the block without bending the fender. That will create the bottom half of the die. Then another block of steel is carved so that the other side of the fender will fit over it without bending. Then the two dies have to fit together, punch out the part, and they have to line up so that the sheet metal fits in between, without making any excess dents, or defects. There are hundreds of parts that must be formed, it takes 4 years to produce all the dies, and test them. Each switch, glovebox door, ect. It really does take a long time. ive seen one near my home in huntington beach several times. Had no idea what it was until now. It was the camo one. the driver must live in Huntington Beach or Costa Mesa because thats where i keep seeing it.
Looks like first delivery should be before the end of the year looks like November
See this is what I keep saying, we need these now ,
Remember Americans support American industry not foreign industry , we are worth it.
Will the Ford be made in Mexico?
Ford will be made in the US, Tesla is made in the US (at Fremont, CA and Austin, TX). The Atlis truck (Phoenix, Arizona), Lordstown Motors (Warren, OH), and Rivian (Normal, Illinois), Bollinger (California) are made in the US
5:41 I live in Youngstown and I am kinda hype that this made it on your video, it certainly has a lot of local support for the future of the company
The Endurance is on track for production in September and they have sufficient capital to last until May 2022, and zero debt. So odds of bankruptcy is basically zero.
I trust Lordstown Motors to deliver and have 10 ordered
Those of you who think the endurance will make it are crazy do a little research they are a failure
The Canoo looks great..original design ! And quite affordable. For me the best 'looking ' is the Rivian...but really pricey, unfortuantely !
Lordstown gonna be my first ev truck eva
It could have a lot of problems as a startup
It has a top speed of 80mph. In hub motors are not great.

F150 all the way. Build trucks for 100+ years. Home 👍🥃🥃
Hell yea the F150 is the best of all
#7 is the right truck for me
I invested in Atlis...it's truck. I don't care about 0-60. 20,000 - 30,000 lb. towing, 300-500 mile range depending on battery pack and 15 minutes to fully charge...it's a truck.
It's a truck that you have No Clue how to work on is what it is..... you think a mechanic is expensive now Ahaha! Enjoy these prices Conformist.
@@Screwloose10 I own a tesla and I have had ZERO problems. There is nothing to work on unless with the truck you break an axle or damage it 4 wheeling. This is not an issue...
Good to see what is coming.
Bollinger needs to rethink their product offering. Looks awful and $125k for THAT?! You are out of your mind for a startup.
The ford lighting is actually longer in range. Ford didn't tell us that in their testing, they had a full load in the bed.
i love Canoo
I just saw my first Rivian on the road yesterday, in Muskegon, Michigan.
Exactly what I was thinking. Ford has done an amazing job with the Lightning. The features just go on and on and on. The only real truck here.
Found on road dead 🤣💩🤡
500 miles range is CRAZY! My face when my current car is only 17mpg *cries in poverty*
I love the Alpha Wolf style, and it’s interesting to see the creativity of all the startups but I’m guessing Ford and Chevy will dominate all early sales. Chevy appears to be poised to deliver plenty of vehicles.
I’m with ya I like to alpha wolf style. Would be perfect for most of my trucks
Reminds me of an old Toyota pickup, similar to Marty McFly’s black truck in Back to the Future. Design is nice, but practicality as a pickup is questionable.
Is any of those pick up trucks will be manually (transmission)?
Why?
Most EVs only have one gear ratio.
The right choice for family
Excellent presentation.
Lordstown is toast IMHO.
more like FRAUDStown
@@creolerican , at least they didn't have to connect an extension cord to a unit that was demonstrated just last week. Their technology is sound and the CEO's departure was a predestined situation. His intent from day one was to stay to help them with the product development phase. He never wanted to participate in production of the vehicle. RDT&E is much more fun.

Ford's the only one that will sell in quantity.
Ford smord
Great deal!
I wish Atlis had kept this body style. It looks a lot better than what they're advertising now.
how far can thes electric pick up truck run on a full charge? empty and full loaded? that is the question
the ford lighting was tested with a load getting 250-300 miles, so you might get like 350-400 without a load
Victor Joseph
You must be uber old, what was your first car? 1958 model?
I think with a fully loaded hauling truck the range will decrease by 50%; Thus, the range will be 150 miles with a fully loaded hauling truck.
2021-10 Electric Pickup Trucks to hit US Streets Soon | It's Happening!
2100- 10 Electric Pickup Trucks to hit US Streets Soon | It's Happening!
I’m taking the lightning at number one and have on ordered
I wonder MPGE still the same during hauling, towing, speeding, off road, or in cold environment.
Yeah, all the power of a diesel with a tiny fraction of the operating costs? No market there at all. 🙄
@@BelowMeGoggle citation needed. A diesel will likely outlast an EV by a lot, especially in temperate climates with hills. Simply saying something is true and repeating it, doesn't make it true.
5:05 yup, missed that date lol. I am very excited about the Atlis however.
It takes $1 billion dollars to bring a vehicle to the market if you are an established car maker.
pelousey and biden green deal
COULD YOU BRAEK THAT DOWN FOR ME.
@@sethjohnson1590, Think about the fender on your car. IF you take it off the car, picture a 4 foot square block of solid steel.
Then you must build 10 vehicles to test crash. 10 more for fuel economy runs. dozens of vehicles to run on test tracks to see if they will fall apart and if any parts need to be built with thicker metal or something.
How long that battery last when towing a 5000 pound trailer?

As more truck come into the play area costs will be reduced. Look at plasma and LED tv's when the debut now they are affordable.
I would be interested in the Ford Pickup at least if I have a problem with it I can take it down to the local ford dealer and have it worked on. There is one repair center in Spokane, one in Boise, none in Montana for Tesla. Yes, I do know that Tesla has service vans that travel around to work on their vehicles.
Also - Ford doesn't oppose Right To Repair like Tesla does. So if you get a handle ding in a parking lot or a broken tail lamp or some other little ding that happens in life and want to fix it yourself, no problem.
Tesla? Mail it in for a month.
Welcome to Canada Winter!
That's one thing you don't hear any of them bragging about is the effects of different operating temperatures or energy usage rates. Both of these factors have a profound effect on how much energy the battery will ultimately deliver.
