The battery-powered pickup is a different beast than the rest of its EV siblings. It must do everything expected of a car or SUV and be powerful enough to carry a heavy payload and tow even more weight, all without draining its battery. That problem has taken automakers-both legacy brands and start-ups-some time to resolve, but the answer appears to be here. The Proof: Rivian R1T, GMC Hummer EV, Ford F150 Lightning. Yes, they are “Delivered”.
But today our focus is on upcoming electric pickup trucks, likely to hit the road soon in the US. Some of these trucks not only can tow and carry a solid payload, but they can accelerate like a sports car and are fun to drive. - Авто/Мото
It was a nice job of stating all upcoming trucks thank you
This list needs updated. The Endurance got canceled months ago.
A full sized truck with a 1300 pound cargo captivity isn't a full sized truck, it's a CUV that looks like a truck. The claim of being able to "tow 10,000 pounds" is a laugh. With a standard trailer (not 5th wheel) you put 10% of the weight of the trailer and it's cargo onto the truck hitch. 10% of 10,000 is 1000 pounds. With only a 1300 pounds of cargo capacity that leaves 300 pounds for other cargo; including fuel, passengers, tools, and the driver.
Yes good point!
Worded perfectly
That's Toyota Tundra territory.
11 months later and the Silverado has the highest range while towing....so far.
It's funny to watch older videos like this. Some brands listed won't happen.
Not enough charging infrastructure. Ecstatic with free upgrade to an EV in Orlando (it had 1/4 charge). Researched 2 hours to find one charger 2 resorts away. Sat for an hour in the car to get enough charge to drive the family to dinner. Dropped family off after dinner and went to the charger at 10. It was taken so I limped back home. Barely made it to the charger at midnight and was so relieved to find it available. I walked 20 minutes home. At 5 am, walked 20 minutes to get the car and someone unplugged it to charge their car. Thankful it was back at 1/4 charge - enough to get back to MCO at 6 am and switch to a gas car so we could get back to vacation. Drove without A/C to preserve range. My sister (actively researching electric cars and was having a charging station installed at home) was horrified. We went from can't wait to try it to can't wait to get rid of it in 12 hours. We concluded Hybrid but not electric. Rent an electric car for 2-3 days before buying one just to see if it even works in your area. Can't imagine an F150 lightning in a rural area.
I'm not for the looks but performance and longivity.
So far the Chevy with 4 wheel steer looks very promising , but they need to make sure it has a 600 mile driving capability one way with a full cargo load , for us folks that live out in the Mountains of Western Canada , with deep snow , ice and temperatures that go 45 below 0 degrees . REMEMBER ! ....IN COLD WEATHER THE BATTERIES LOSE CLOSE TO 50 % OF THEIR CHARGE!!!!!!. THERE ARE VERY FEW CHARGING STATIONS ON OUR REMOTE HIGHWAYS SO IT WILL BE A REAL CHALLENGE . ANOTHER POINT ! ...DIRECTED TO THE MANUFACTURERS....MAKE THE BODY IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT ABSORBS THE SUN'S LIGHT ENERGY LIKE A SOLAR PANEL . ...AND WHEN THE WHEELS BRAKE OR ROTATE THEY CHARGE THE BATTERIES AS WELL !!!!...AND REMEMBER !!!! BIG WINDOWS ARE WONDERFUL BUT THEY HAVE NO THERMAL EFFICIENCY AND LET THE COLD IN AND EXCESSIVE HEAT IN , ON VERY HOT SUNNY DAYS...ALSO ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN A ROLL OVER OR CONTACT WITH A SOLID OBJECT, SENDING GLASS FLYING EVERYWHERE ...i WOULD LOVE TO SIT DOWN WITH THESE ENGINEERSAND CHAT WITH THEM ABOUT A FEW THINGS THAT WOULD BE GOOD TO IMPLEMENT INTO THEIR DESIGNS FOR SAFETY .
TALK LOUDER.
@@jrsforest187 When you're an idiot, you make up for your lack of content with more volume.
Bring small Honda generator,,just incase,,you runout of juice 😂
EV batteries only lose 12% efficiency, which is the about same as combustion engines in winter months.what combustible pick up gets 600 miles on a tank, my Dodge doesn't..Ford 150 doesn't,Chevy doesn't... come on...
I would prefer plug in hybrids that will have best of all worlds: the ability to drive all electric for a decent limited distance and fail back to hybrid ICE with high MPG. Makes sense for local commutes for the majority of times and the occasional long hauls. I wish they would give us the interim solution which I think would be the optimal solution for our current environment.
It's too bad the volt never really took off(probably because it was limited to 55 mph on generator) but a single electric drivetrain with generator just makes far more sense to me than dual drivetrain. Honestly the added aero drag and weight people add to trucks makes them much less predictable for batteries. Besides not being able to charge with unhitching the trailer.
I think you are spot on RD....
Hybrids are terrible, 2x systems to fail hell to work on. I had a a gmc hybrid a few years ago . Total nightmare
@@ryanrulz4992 Have a 2020 Honda CRV Hybrid. So far all good and reliable. Maybe because it's a Honda. Cross my fingers. I have trust in the quality of Honda and Toyota.
@@Fwoke I have a Honda CRV hybrid and it gives me 30.4 mpg. The electric assist gives it some zip. It works, not useless, life is still great.
That GMC price is ridiculous they can keep their damn truck
I know there's several other EV trucks in the works but Alpha Wolf looks promising. Too many huge trucks on the road these days and would be nice to see something in the size of an old '80 Datsun.
The last thing that I want is a truck that has 120 mile range when I’m pulling my trailer. It gives me anxiety just thinking of it 🤮👎
Yeah, and with the price tag of an old '80 datsun!
Telo truck looks pretty dope from here. 350 mile range, 8' bed with mid-gate, and overall footprint of a Mini Cooper.
loved my Datsun
My 2002 gas Tacoma whom I love dearly is nearing the end so I had to get on the market for a replacement commuter truck 😂. I gave up looking for a close to MSRP Lightning Pro and settled for a Hybrid Maverick. Now I can wait for what I truly wanted an EV or PHEV Tacoma 🤤💙. I understand gas powered work trucks are better for their job but we have to wean ourselves off big oil, if not at least increase the ratio of EV:gas vehicles out there. EVs have their own pollution issues but we have to start somewhere and hopefully we can learn to resolve these issues. If not we are screwed either way.
keep em !
Looking forward to drive one of those very soon
Wait till you have to replace all of them!
Better than plugging it in.
I like the Cadillac escalade ESV from 2020 for seeing that it has a Cadillac escalade ESV Electric like the 2020 one day 😀
un-affordable gas will never go away with these prices!!
Excellent. Now I have to find a buyer for my liver to pay for one of these eSUV
That is amazing beautiful
The last thing that I want is a truck that has 120 mile range when I’m pulling my trailer. It gives me anxiety just thinking of it 🤮👎
Very very soon we'll see many of them in the junkyard Sir
It might help to have a up to date program instead of one that’s almost a year old ?
How ironic something called the “Endurance” gets 200 miles of range. Also, I don’t believe the Edison future is ever coming out, although I love the design
The S in Illinois is silent
All the EV or EV assisted trucks I’m looking at are useless for work. The cab and body design is nothing more than a passenger car without a trunk lid. The bed is so small the families bicycles won’t fit without disassembly. They haven’t got it yet. Used truck lots are full of short bed trucks but no long bed trucks. That tell you something? Who buys a truck to carry groceries?
Well if. The prices aren’t sensible and towing range adequate they can keep them
You people that live in the big cities should have EV’s but don’t expect everyone to be excited about EV’s because they are not practical in the north as in Alaska and northern Canada
The only way they can sell more EV is to slowly prohibiting sales of ICE. There is not enough MW to replace the BTU.
Electric trucks just don’t make sense yet. I wish someone made a plug-in hybrid truck.
Add solo charge cell on the roof
'Edition' Not 'EEdition' Anyway, thanks for a very informative video.
What about “truck for work”???
1. Double rear wheels?
2. Long 8’ legs bed ?
Can I expected for real truck
Why don't they make on of the wheels a generator constantly charging the battery in electric cars. Unless someone already thought of the idea 💡💡💡😂
So far Regenerative braking is the best they can do.
There are small camper trailers, that can do that as you haul it.
@@icosthop9998 They will figure it out. It's really simple. Make a test model. It will work better than plugging it in.
@@frankmerolillo3880 We will see but there's no doubt others have thought about this also.
@@icosthop9998 Good. Iam sure they will out sell the plug in electric cars. I hope they start making them ASAP. LOL. Maybe all them plug in car's will be good for local drivers. Not long trips.
Because the laws of physics makes it unfeasible.
You would ultimately end up with LESS range by the time you spent the energy to turn the generator as opposed to using said energy to propel the vehicle over the road. #TINSTAAFL
Don’t give a crap about EV trucks! I’d rather have a hybrid with gas and electric.
I honestly wanna know how a ev truck handles a 8 inch lift with 35 inch tires by 12 wide. Would love to see sum bigger but i dont have much hope 😂
Make on of the wheels on electric cars a Generator constantly charging the battery. Better than plugging it in. Very simple.
The laws of physics makes this totally unfeasible.

Song great look great
RAM EV with on board gasoline engine generator option? ATLIS HD truck with
HUGE range/payload/towing and super fast chsrging capacity? Thanks for the video, very interesting, and learned about trucks l had not heard of.
All good electric pick up trucks😊
Electric trucks will be higher to pay than gasoline trucks
Endurance seems pretty American
Where's the Canoo? Where's the Telo?
why do they all have to be 4 doors?
I KNOW HUH!
Those are the most sold trucks, so that is what they make electric first. Its cheaper to introduce 1 configuration than 10, then just add as time goes on and demands drops below supply
@@ssu7653 Thank you
I hear that. Keep wish for something like a Ford Maverick regular cab with a longer box
You can’t be serious mentioning ford lightning with 60 mile range ????
More EVs headed for the storage lots.
They’ve been saying electric trucks are coming for years now… where are they?
why is not Radar RD6 pickup from geely on the list?
I won't by one .

Haul 10000 lbs for 80 miles 🤣🤣🤣
That's the issue, the one they dance around. These are trucks and we need to know they can do truck things.
@@rogerrussell9544 👍
Waiting for a regular cab 8 ft. bed work truck for the farm....
There's lots of used trucks for that purpose. 8ft beds have been a rarity for at least a decade now.
It's sad to say they don't want to make 2 door or even extended trucks anymore. Too many soccer moms drive trucks now.
You're watching the wrong video if you actually want to use a truck for work. These are pavement princesses for rich hipsters.
@@jrsforest187 My 2001 F250 does the job, but 11 miles to the gal. no power anything, door locks, windows, mirrors, heated anything, will upgrade someday....
Enjoy the savings over gas and diesel why you can. Because sooner or later they will find a way to collect road tax they enjoy collecting from fuel sales. Rumor has it they will start charging road fees the second you leave the driveway ,they already have the electronics installed.
The announcers voice seems dubbed.
The looks of most of these electric trucks from the front immediately makes me think of someone wearing a mask. Somehow driver/vehicle match...
I hope ram fixed the air suspension freezing up in cold weather.
Price is what matters (none were mentioned)....I suspect these are all out of the reach of average folks.
How many $100,000 trucks do these manufacturers think Americans are interested in?
Cars with hardly any range in the cold.
$20K battery replacements.
Trucks that cannot be used as trucks.
Charging stations that dont work.
Lithium and cobalt mining destroying the environment.
Electrical grid that already has brown outs and rolling outages in summer.

You can install a DIY 15 KW solar system with batteries for under 15 grand. During the day your solar system charges the batteries, then at night the battery's charge your electric vehicle.
My home system at present only produces. 25%. Of its summer time out put. In winter. Would need a lot higher than a 15kw system in winter
You want to donate that 15,000 for me?
Up your fire insurance...
Soon, people will be fighting over charging stations.
You can't change one of these as fast as you can pump gas, and you have seen how lines can quickly form.
I wonder when the shooting will start ?
Think about it.
Gas station 5 min. Charging station 5 hrs.🤣
Ya. It sucks charging my car while I sleep.
1st generation truck ev's aren't going to be on everyone's wish list do to power. Hauling loads aren't going to be to spec. , because the ev infrastructure isn't there yet. Not like Gas or Diesel, we are seriously better off going to hydrogen due to the gas infrastructure already available. A difficult transition but I see a ev, hydrogen hybrid. But a ev, gas Diesel hybrid would be more of a buyers option to make the transition into ev and hydrogen easier due to the lack of ev infrastructure. Also our grid infrastructure isn't whole heartily there yet either, so a viable grid infrastructure is needed as well to make the transition into ev/hydrogen easier. Thus the only safe, green option that can met the demand is Nuclear. With a solar and wind backup for grid supply issue support.
Hydrogen is all hype and no substance. Without MASSIVE leaps in the technology, there's no way it's going to be viable, and it still uses the exact same amount of electricity to make the hydrogen from water as it does to charge a BEV to go the same distance. And if you're making the hydrogen from steam reforming of methane, just don't bother, make a natural gas power plant instead, and power the BEVs with it, you'll get better efficiency.
I am dumbfounded by this, the US "Truck" has turned into a family sedan with a useless sub-5-foot bed??
Not every truck owner has a family of 4!
I have been waiting for a Single Cab truck, maybe a 6-foot bed so it fits in a suburban garage!
I have hopes that Alpha motors will someday produce the Alpha Wolf truck!
Just a quick question! How can you charge your trucks when North America says to turn your A.C off to prevent rolling blackouts? Just common sence.
Just don't live in California... Problem solved!
Investing in nuclear power would solve a lot of issues, but that may as well be the second forbidden n-word because media and propaganda has people irrationally fearful over meltdowns which, even if they do happen, are negligible in their impact to the surrounding environment if the plant is built to code and has the proper redundancies in place.
The only thing i would want is the xbus but there is literally zero news on it and I cant find anything
Rivian ford and GM have all failed when it comes to towing.
Hmmmm can these Electric Trucks be Driven thru a BIG Mudpuddle?
Well Steve, why don't you research what the fording capabilities of trucks, both ice and ev and get back to us.
Do they come with "C" rated fire extinguishers?
Id first get a small Honda generator,,next a electric vehicle,,with enough gas too charge my electric vehicle 😂
I'm going to try a cybertruck cause they're cool.but I don't really think they will be any cleaner. I'm going to get a generator as well if I want to go on a long trip especially trying to tow with it. I haul stuff and hunt I think it'll be good for most of my uses. I'm gonna keep the f150 too just in case I need a real truck
your generator wont make much of a dent in its battery usage. However, The offerings of Tesla seem to be way better than other models Ive researched so far. I Keep seeing car companies promising bigger and better , 3 years away. the Ole Two in the bush routine, but have jack shit now, and not even a anyone who can vouch. Ya Ill wait 5 years minimum for anyone who is not currently producing sound electric vehicles.
I hate the slanted panels that attach the rear of cab to the box that GM keeps doing with their EV's
looking at the Silverado EV that sail panel looks functional. It is probably necessary to add rigidity to the bed walls. At least it is not a purely aesthetic choice.
@@georgeidarraga4006 what's different about the bed walls? Just lighter to support range?
death traps...
Canoo is a new EV company , I really like their trucks
The last thing that I want is a truck that has 120 mile range when I’m pulling my trailer. It gives me anxiety just thinking of it 🤮👎
@Dave Waldon I see what you mean. The Canoo , like most EVs, anit really for towing even if they say they can. Unless you got like a little jetski and you live like 5 miles from the lake or ocean. I agree with you though I wouldn't do anything serious with it. It's more like a daily driver or farm/handyman truck.
I'm a fan of the Canoo also. I call it "The Dodge A100 of The 21st Century"
But yeah, their range sucks.
Still haven't been able to find charging stations deep in the mountains or way out in the desert. EVs are useless to me because of that.
Someone just drive a Rivian too and from the most remote area in the lower 48 and it wasn’t a problem (there’s a video on YT titled” is the R1S the best SUV ever”. EV’s are very thrifty when creepy along at low speeds on dirt roads.
@@greentransmission I can't afford home mortgage to get one.
@@davidleadford6511 I’m in the same boat, though my used 2013 Leaf was pretty cheap with a $2500 cash rebate. ~$5000 and is a great around town commuter and dirt cheap to operate.
Can you please us SI units instead of you Imperial units
Not all your viewer from USA you know
Great point! We will definitely consider in our future videos.
More like parked on the side of the road with zero charge.
To some people $107,000 is a house no one really wants electric Evie's to begin with we don't have the infrastructure to support everyone in America recharging their vehicles off their home Electric System they just keep breathing prices on their vehicle until they shove everyone out of the market
Lordstown clearly doesn't know what real truck owners need in a truck. GM and Ram figured it out
Tesla removed cybertruck pricing two years ago, so we know it won't start under $40k anymore
I never expected it to in the first place.
I can tell you're lip syncing, Millie vanillie
Lol. I wouldn’t trust an American electric vehicle any further than I could throw it. Not yet anyway!
I need to build a bigger garage to house these trucks.
Am I the only one who thinks that's not his real voice? 🤔
Stay away from Revian, constant headache. 14 month of nightmare finally ended when replaced by LX600. Electric vehicles can be tricky.
why fix what's not broken petrol is the only way i don't think its saves you any money when you get a $22,000 dollar bill to replace the battery after 4 years of ownership
The price are crazy and stupid
Lordstown folded.
You could include Atlis EV on this list.
Never gonna see production.
By the way, it's illegal to require paying money to be entered into a giveaway.
For my needs, meh. They need to tow almost three times greater than their current capacities, with at least a 300 mile range when towing at their rated maximums.
I Did NOT see these so called trucks pulling a trailer of eny size. That's because they fall on their face. Very fast....
in a 3/4 ton heavy duty
Electric trucks have a serious flaw when it comes to their towing range. Let’s not forget who pickups are made for and why; hint, it’s not soccer moms.
Let's just make one thing abundantly clear: these trucks are not being made for your blue collar working man. They will be bought by the wealthy and will be used as status symbols. In other words: they will be pavement princesses. They are simply too expensive and not practical if you actually intend on towing any real loads consistently. The estimated range is based on an empty load and will be reduced by 50% or more when you're towing any real weight (this has been demonstrated by TFL Truck). Diesel will remain king for towing and I don't see that changing for at least another two decades.
The US infrastructure isn't ready for full electric vehicles but we are ready for hybrids. In most cases the electric battery/motor would take the vehicle to a regular day of driving to and from work and to the store with about 50 miles, then at home you would plug it in to charge all night and be ready in the morning and for long trips you could use gas and refill like normal ICE vehicles and the electric battery/motor should help to give you about 5-10 more mpg on gas and when you get to your hotel/cabin/rv spot for vacation you can plug it in over night and be ready for a day of joy riding. That way you have the best of both worlds, one with a 400-500 miles range with the gas and electric and on normal work day driving you don't have to fuel up with gas as you can recharge after a day of driving at home with cheaper electricity compared to gas. Too bad a hybrid cost about $10K more than a similar speced ICE vehicle so it takes about 5yrs of gas savings to pay off that $10K mark up on the sticker. Now if we could only get a $10K tax refund (not credit but actual cash back) to cover the electric mark up then people would be more interested in changing over to a hybrid.
Plug in hybrids.
@@SteveMauro100 Most people that own hybrids don't charge them.. useless cars.
@@amircohen143 I charge mine when ever needed. The only time I got caught short of charge was after a morning trip then an unexpected trip to the hospital. Just used the gas for that trip. Typically I go the first 50 to 80km on electrons (depending on speed and temperature).
@@amircohen143 my PHEV is charged every time I return to the garage... I'd say MOST PHEV owners plan on charging their cars unless they don't have a garage.
Agreed, and with PHEVs, you can likely replace half the miles driven with a battery that's 1/5 the size of a similar EV.
As for the cost, I'm not sure which PHEV you're looking at, but they're typically not $10k more. The PHEV my wife bought was almost the exact same cost as the equally spec'd gas version.
You know I wish these startup electric vehicle companies started with an electric/ motor hybrid. However I guess trying to find a vendor that will sell motors to them would be an issue. I think they will make a lot of money that way as a start off. I would definitely buy one if I didn't jump right into it all the battery pickup truck.
The cars will be very usful in low temps when battery will fail and charging will take whole day.
The last thing that I want is a truck that has 120 mile range when I’m pulling my trailer. It gives me anxiety just thinking of it 🤮👎
Well. unless these trucks are dependable and cost less than twenty grand, lot's of luck.
Nah wont work for me im usually off the grid. Why buy something that limits your daily driving distance?
Their is a lot of EV trucks coming out, but not a big market.
Why can't we have solar charging car?
LOL. We can. It will take only a month or two to charge it. LOL
How much? $100,000 plus? The Ford Lightning proves electric is stupid. Tow anything and your range will drop by more than half.
