  • The world of automobiles has changed in the last ten years. This is partly due to Tesla's daring approach to vehicles, and the rise of their successful Electric Vehicles. In the last few years, new markets have emerged for electric vehicles and experimental automobile companies. New automobile giants have tried to create the lightning Tesla hit.
    Unfortunately, many companies have promised to deliver. However, time has judged them as pretenders with nothing or little to show for all their promises. Not even Tesla is immune from this, a glaring example of its failed promise is the Cybertruck. However, one company looks like it has a real shot of being more than a pretender. One company that stands out with real promise. [Slight Pause] Canoo. Canoo is an EV Start-Up that is on a mission to bring EVs to everyone. Today, we will be discussing its EV truck simply called the Canoo Pickup Truck and why it’s genius

    The most amazing thing about Canoo is that there aren't already 50 other companies doing the same thing. Once the skateboard and the software are sorted out (as they are in a Tesla for example) you can build whatever you want on top, as demonstrated by both Canoo and Tesla.

    Noting this video is 10 months old, if you haven't looked at Canoo yet, you might like the fact that Canoo has extended thier pick-up line up. The testing for the military has created 2 new versions of the pick-up. They're named the Screaming Eagle (after the 101st Airborn) and the Bulldog (a reference to the USMC mascot). Both trucks are touted as LTVs (light tactical vehicles). The difference between these and the standard pick-up is primarily its more rugged design. Bigger wheels, a flatbed with stake sides instead of a pick-up bed. And a couple small things. I personally like the Bulldog because it's a true crew cab. The Eagle is a strait cab (no extension). If the pick-up somehow found the ability to have the Bulldogs crew cab and big wheels and tires, it would be perfect. Don't expect that to happen though. What makes Canoo affordable is the company's ability to offer 7 vehicle styles while only needing to build one sled (the brains and bronze of the company). So trying to fit the extra space needed for a crew cab and still have a bed that can be extended to a full 8 feet is just a little too much for the sled. That's fine though. If it keeps the price point to where normal Americans can actually afford to drive, then let's go with what we have. If you couldn't tell, I'm all in on this company.

    Well now to add to the list. Canoo just recently announced a new CFO on January 26th just after the stock market closed, they also signed a deal that day to become an exclusive distributor to Saudi Arabia. The Saudis agreed to handle all their own dealer ships and maintenance.
    These are the reasons why January 27th saw a dramatic increase the moment the stock market opened. I'm stoked for their new upcoming manufacturing facility too. I just hope I can pick up more shares before the price jumps again.

      Yes- and if you ask me, that's exactly what we need in the US. Consumers deserve a small practical truck for things like running to the hardware store or moving furniture. Not everyone owns a boat or needs to haul a camper around every summer. The fact that as of right now, in the country that buys and sells more trucks than any other on the planet, pretty much all of our options are oversized gas-guzzling monstrosities that tend to have impractically small beds that are really just larger open trunks. Kei trucks are so much more practical, and until this pickup goes into production in the USA the only way to drive a Kei truck is to import a 25-year-old one from Japan with right side drive, a Japanese dash and (mostly) manual transmission.

  • @tgmotz
    @tgmotz Год назад +2

    Environmentally friendly? Depends on the envelope you are analyzing the make the claim. If your envelope includes the sourcing of materials to make this vehicle and the charging then it isn't environmentally friendly at all. But if you want to trick the public into believing it is environmentally friendly then your envelope will start and end with the vehicle itself as it doesn't emit CO2. This might have worked years ago but folks aren't ignorant about this anymore.

    • @connoryork6631
      @connoryork6631 Год назад

      It doesn't emit CO2 but the process to make it does. It's not even about C02 anymore its about the cost of fuel. Vehicles are so overpriced today to makes sense to look at an EV.

    LOL! LOL! yet one more "very slick" video on "yet another" electric "truck." LOL! LOL! i had to LAUGH when the narrator said the range was "200 miles" - WOW!! NO ONE, i repeat, NO ONE has yet figured out how to overcome several MAJOR OBSTACLES for electric trucks: 1. lack of range; 2. lack of towing capacity; 3. inability to operate in cold temperatures without SIGNIFICANT loss of performance/capability. electric trucks will work in UNIQUE applications like congested urban areas or "short distance" delivery applications. but as Ford is now finding out with their MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR "experiment" - the F-150 Lightning - an all-electric truck simply cannot provide all the COMMON capabilities that a normal AMERICAN "truck buyer" expects. GOOD LUCK "canoe." perhaps you should have concentrated on building a small, two person, flotation device for use in "water environments."

    • @GrapplingIgnorance
      @GrapplingIgnorance Год назад +6

      It really doesn't. Not everyone needs to drive 150 miles and back every day. Not everyone needs a pickup for towing (which obviously reduces range for gas and electric). The average American commute is 28 miles, and you charge an EV at home every night. if you want to go on long road trips regularly, this isn't the vehicle for you. However, that's like saying a Camero will never sell because you can't use it to move a couch or a full sheet of plywood. It's okay for different vehicles to have different applications.

      Batteries tech is advancing so fast. Each year is showing about a 25% increase in energy density. Range will be a mute point in a few years. Lucid broke 500 and Nio is claiming 600 on a single charge.

      @@GrapplingIgnorance You don't buy a truck to drive 20 miles to work and home again. Look at what happened to the Leaf. It is a great city car, just don't try and drive long distance in the US in it. That is why Teslas and Chevy Bolts were and are popular.
      If you buy a truck , you are going to haul and tow with it. Why do you think so many are diesels? As soon as you try to tow with a truck you will see a reduction in range. Trucks need bigger batteries because they are doing more work.
      Adoption of new technology does not mean that you have to give up what you already are doing. New technology should not mean going backwards or getting less for more money.
      What about all of the companies and contractors that make this world function?
      Do they tell their customers, " I am sorry that I can't make your appointment on time, I am 6 th in line waiting at the charger and may not be there for another 2 to 3 hours. " Oh yeah, I will be working at overtime hour rates when I get there."
