Noy neck of the woods that area well anywhere from sunderland to Berwick i fish arround tyne mouth quite a you need to up scale your gear and end tackle keep it simple with a pully rig or single pattern oster or single flapper rig and rotten bottom as its a grave yard bug dose produce some good fish had fish to 7lb off there this year
this has to be for the enjoyment of fishing, going by the bait we used to did for free, it would be cheaper buying caviar than all these prepacked baits
You want four or five turns of the leader around your reel. Depending on your rod eyes, the knot itself and your casting habits, the knot shouldnt tangle. Smooth casts and you'll be fine
That rod and reel combo looks far too lightweight for the rock marks you were fishing. Would have been interesting to see the retrieves, especially behind the pier. Traditional rods/reels for those Tyne marks are Century Kompressors/zziplex Evo or at the lower end RT Axelerators/Leeda icon sports. Horses for courses!
@@OnTheHookFishingTV seriously , enjoyed your vid mate . Fished them marks a few times when we've been up Tynemouth for short breaks . Love Blyth pier . Never really done a deal tho except little coaleys . Even done the Quayside in Newc but nowt. Quayside at North Shields , Cullercoats Bay and King Edward's Bay , Longsands , even that mark at Whitley Bay that's like a wall that goes out you can get on at low tide . But nowt over 8oz anywhere ! I once went up on day early morning ( from Nottm ) for the makrel on Blyth pier in the summer but forgot about school holidays ! 🤣🤣 about 3000 school kids crammed into that end platform shoulder to shoulder !! Love the areas up there tho and the people . Warm hearted nice people in the North East 😊👍🍻
are you guys local to tynemouth or just travel around different areas wondered if your doing any more around northeast coast thanks great video by the way
There are plenty of YT vids showing better knots that are very easy to tie . The double uni is reliable but a wee bit chunky if you want to wellie the cast a bit.
Some good tackle and bait tips here but the catches are dismal! Some fine editing too. When I go fishing now on empty beaches I remember the days when they were full of anglers with a good chance of great fishing. Sad to see the decline in the interest and numbers of beach anglers. It CAN get better but not in my lifetime I think. 😦😦
Good video, but a 25ib main line straight throught to a 4oz lead, not good.. have you heard the rule.. your going to hurt someone, of you dont use a 50ib leader
The fact you fished those 1st 2 marks just shows how little you know of the area. 5 mins walk would of put you on much bigger fish on king eddys bay. Rocks on both side do well & even the bay itself has plenty flatties. Also no way on earth that first codling on blyth was anywhere near 2 lbs. FML!
The videography in this is really good! great video mate we’ll edited as well!

Do you wrap shock leader around your reel when casting and do you have any problems with the knot on the ring eyses???

You should come down and catch some gudgeon on the Trent mate . They're about the same size and you only need 2lb line and a half Oz bomb 🤣

Great video I have a question what knot do you use to tie the shock leader to the main line ?
Hello, Nathan uses a double uni-knot in this video.
There are plenty of YT vids showing better knots that are very easy to tie . The double uni is reliable but a wee bit chunky if you want to wellie the cast a bit.
Where is this place?
Happy Xmas! By the way mate Where is it? Not asking for the exact spot but the name of the town? Cheers
Tynemouth pier, Haven Rocks ( Black Middens) and Blyth West Pier.
Happy new year! Thanks for watching.
The Pier Wall is a pretty dangerous mark but good for lobster
Interesting! Thanks for watching.
I agree the water on the North side of the Tyne pier isn't called the cauldron for nothing. It is thick with kelp.
Watch you dont scratch your shiny new gear.🤣
Will do! Happy new year! Thanks for watching.
name of music?
OOPS TYNEMOUTH / SOUTHSHIELDS :-)
My grandma caught a 40lb cod in the mouth of the tyne.

He ties a 60lb shock leader during the video 😂
