Steve seems full of knowledge and tips, and is very good on cam - Get fishing more with that guy - great video - Currently in Cod mode myself, running out of time though for the bigguns
Like most people in the states, I think of cod as a boat caught fish, drifting over VERY deep water, a dropper rig of some type. thanks for this, really fun and informative. Tight lines.
Thanks for your usual brilliant video I really liked this one nice to see good fishermen cashing good fish nice cod, now have tried the up and over pulley rig instead of my normal pulley penal rig with some very good results. Thanks Graeme and keep going.
Mouth is watering just looking at that cod. I've eaten fish from all over the world. Nothing beats Canadian/Alaskan Salmon and North Sea Cod - best eating fish in the world.
Very impressive detailed description of how you go about what you do man unbelievable I'm an American and your language is pushing so much information I love it man thanks for sharing God bless you guys hello from California
Graeme cant wait to see clips like this when this pandemic as passed over,im sick of seeing people doing foraging videos they are getting boring now,we need some real footage like this
Chisel is on my list for sure, just got my Century T900 and Loving it, the Up and Over appeals to me and will try that Rig, Ive just been using the Pulley Penell Rig and have Bass etc. In search of the Beautiful Cod now too, Cheers Lads, Love the show
I remember in the 80s ...an 100 class penn international on a Fenwick bent butt rod was like 1200 .. omg ... I use now a rod I call "frankenrod" made of of 3 different outfits found in the rubbish bin at the dock 😊
Another cool TAFS Greame. I do like you're choice of music you play on your video (although I must confess I don't know the artists ect)). Im an Old rocker at heart and it's right up my street. Keep up the good work mate.
great video, always, enjoy the beach videos - more please. Steve & Natham were good on camera and very informative, you could do more videos with these guys many thanks for your efforts and time
I know this is old but i would have said Steve may have found an area of black Lug. Black Lug as you probably know they are usually deeper than Blow Lug. I think i'm slowly getting through all your Films Graeme. Keep the great work that you do, i look forward to Friday's.
NICE to see you on Chesil beach Graeme, it's got be the top beach venue in Britain. There is always a chance of catching any fish you can find in British waters but boy aint it BLOODY hard work to get on and off of. I live in weymouth and fish it only in the summer, I normally fish Preston beach in winter. Thanks for another great video sir
+fishing mad Hi fishing mad, in all fairness I didn't make myself very clear on camera (first time and nervous etc lol) i meant it in the way that i had seen the size of fish that steve had caught and how well the rods handled them and from the vast variety of venues we fish :). fully aware the majority of it is steves skill as an angler and not the rod :). thanks for watching and the comment, will hopefully help me in future videos :)
Nothing wrong with leeda m sport powers. A third of the price of your century rods, but just as capable. M sport powers have landed 150lb shore caught skate.
@@jonyjonsy they let them go ( I do SOMETIMES) but you know its natural to be taking from nature to EAT (you respect creation, the creature and the environment) but after you think of all that, you still EAT, right???
I really like circle hooks, for the simple reason that if a fish is short, or you have two many and wish to release, they always are in the corner of the mouth. Another thing, with circle hooks, if you use a sand spike for the rod, they hook themselves, so you don't need to "be ready" every moment you are there. Cast out, put in spike, then you can play with your dog, your kids and when the rod goes off, it is hooked well for keeping, and easy release if you want/need to let one go.
Hi there,,chief in the black hoody, like the rig, only into my 3rd year of fishing ,, would it be daft to add a rotten bottom to that rig do you think? as i fish filey brigg in yorkshire, quite heavy ground , i like the long flowing trace idea, thanks in advance
Hi Alec, rotten bottom is fine for rough ground. My personal opinion is that the long flowing trace would possibly get ripped apart on the rocks if any, your better off keeping it short and sweet!!!
Fished Chesil last winter - Portland end , long drive for two eels lol what part were you fishing and what month I'm planning to go back soon hopefully for some cod this time.
great vid as usual, i really think u should get up on the north east coast for the winter cod and whiting. tactics and baits are different and it would be good to show different methods and baits for other viewers. keep up the good work.
can i come fishing with you please i love the show i been carp fishing for about 2 years now and the biggest iv caught is 15 pounds and i would like to catch a bigger one your show help alot just like to say thank you for the show really does help
I caught more fish and bigger ones on my £25 power stick,,than I did on my £200 century,,Ive had my power stick for 5 years now,and its had a battering, only now the eye on the top is starting to go,,and I’ve pulled in some big fish with it,
No need for 500 quid plus rods. I paid 100 quid for a ron thompson axe and its just as powerful as the century's. Usually ur spot on with ur advice graham but u do not need to be spending silly money on tackle to launch big baits a long way.
In my opinion there is no better tasting fish than cod. Salmon is my second favorite, but still quite lower than cod. In fact most imitation crab is made with cod as the base meat, which may actually make it healthier than true crab! LOL
Great video! I would like to start fishing again here in UK, I have been fishing for a quite a bit in Spain. so what it the distance you can set your rod from the other fishers without making them feel like you've invided their space?
thankyou for taking all the time and effort to make these vids,i not been sea fishing since i was a kid,but after watching all your films i really keen to buy a couple of beach set ups and get out there,i live in leeds,do you know what we get on the yorkshire coast?any hounds or rays?or will i need to take a long drive,i recently worked in christchurch and eastbourne and its like a 5 hour drive from me so dont wanna trail down south coast too often as i dont have the time.
anyone would be chuffed with that first cod we saw off the british coast line in the morning im off fishishing a trout still water in maldon essex wish me luck
Hi, it is a pennel rig, you slide the other hook down to the bait and secure it through the top of the bait once. Helps keep your bait on in the cast plus it increased the chance of hooking a fish
i am Dan. front page news on the ocean news with, Sea Angling Times, Showing me and a catch of 33 lb of Cod from Watchet West Somerset. was on the boat Sea Fire Rods and lines supplied some fresh fish or lug you can purchase.25 quid i put all my comfort zones away and had to feel the sea. loved it and the second trip got the cod the first a 30 lb eel. in all this though have a story of magic bait. the bait that got the cod was a lug threaded the hook a sliver of squid and as with every catch the cod day and surprised even me a centermeter in width and about five long of a pack of 1 pound a pack buttered smoked kippers. with each catch the kippers called to them and oh yes they came. surpriseing also as its thought the kipper would simply fall away and flake. two dips it was still on and the cod. threading the skin too as strips of kipper should still have skin to thread its on them in the packs too. we meant it as a joke but used it with surprising results
£600 rods? I have a modern Penn rod but much prefer my old bendy Zziplexes. One I paid £55 second hand And cant remember what I paid for the other. Both capable of casting bait well over 100 yds. 200 yds on the field. Most of my considerable bass were caught within 60yds. Some MUCH less, and in the surf at low tide. Good video though. The point here is had Graham been fishing alone we would have had no idea that the cod were there or how to catch them. Graham probably fished for longer than me - and that is 50 years!

Great to go back on old videos 👍👍
such a shame there is not a dedicated sea fishing series on tv , which strictly focus on the Uk shore line
I know right, there’s hardly anything in our waters.. apart from dogs, rays and congas
Louis Roberts your fishing the wrong marks then
Hunting requires a little effort..
Cracking Channel Greaham I’m going to this beech next week and can’t wait to fish it 👍👍👍❤️👍🦆🦆🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊
Excellent cod fishing tips!
Great content, beyond my price range those big rods!
Just great stuff. Visions of fish and chips cooked in beef dripping. Greetings from the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada.

Great video enjoyed watching this 👍

that's why there is hardly any cod about in uk waters this year, cod ban is what's needed

Had some great fishing at Chesil over the years.
Nice big Cod.
Awesome guys. Thanks
14:37 nasty chip on the spool rim there :o get that changed asap!
BigMac Mick - or sanded down and polished out... Les
why change it? it doesnt affect anything! what a stupid comment, weve all got those dents

Great vid guys. Keep up the great work.. inspiring stuff.
Steve perry should do his own videos
another great video!
Mark and cod is good 👍 🇬🇧
I like the bit where Nathan said I got these rods because I saw the fish Steve had caught on his. LOL. Not really down to the rod is it!!!!.

Yeah that would be for sure. Ice fishing season is coming up though. Maybe time for some Lake trout

I wonder what kit has using now in 2021
need to do more how to fish videos
And the background Tunes most Superior I love rock and roll
The Cod rig described at 10:20 he says he's using 100lb on the main but doesn't say what's on the trace/hook link. Is that 100lb as well?
+gerrabath Hi gerrabath, i believe he was using 30 or 40lb amnesia on this occasion
+nafy118 Ok thanks. I have some 25lb amnesia. I feel another trip to the tackle shop coming on. \0/
On Steve’s rig what is the 2nd hook for please ? I see it’s not fixed but sliding !
crikey where did you park your car? half am hours walk on the shingle is no laughing matter!
pmsl lol haha ;-)
Half an hour isn't considered a long walk on Chesil, One of my favourite marks there takes an hour to reach, Longer some times.
amazing MUST WATCH.. 10pound perch hand caught amazing
Lovely brace of cod
I like pollock tastes good.... great video
can you catch mackeral with cod as bait ?
No
What rods where they? I thought mine were expensive at 360 each. Zipplex... great video
Wow that group sounds like Robin Trower...
Missed the BIG COD on chesil by about 20 years.. ok you'll get the odd decent one but the doubles are VERY far n few...

Only thing about Cod where I live is their tendency for worms!! ugh
tendency for worms?
arebrec the cod have parasitic worms in their flesh
And people still eat them?
The worms are small, you can cut them out when you filet the fish or soak the filets in cold water and they will come out of the flesh.
I caught a mackerel on lug worm there
Where bouts is the shop where u got blowlug from is it far from beach what's the postcode
tub gurnard shore record is held in swansea 12lb 3oz. 1976
Where is that place about can u say what postcode is?
Just called Chesil beach ? Its miles long and on the south coast.
