Am 42yrs now, not been fishing since late twenties. I used to fish of Morecambe bay, park up, put football on the radio and just cast out. It was a chill thing to do. Talk to others, sandwich, flask. Would love to take up again. They have placed rockery on the coast so its unable to cast at where i used to go. There's over spots. so i may take up again. Forgot the basics so this really helped.
great guy lovely simple easy to understand fishing thanks ever so much david its 40+ years since I fished at Whitby .taking grandaughter up Scotland for her first fishing adventure shes 10 and your tips have made me feel happier
Glad you enjoyed it, we may not have caught many fish but we wanted to show people that beach fishing can be enjoyable, especially in the summer with warmer weather and longer evenings (not sure about the warmer weather in the UK at the moment though!)
Not for general short/mid range fishing.Only for long casting/softer baits .We clip both up and down, plus have one coming up using paperclips as a standby clip down for beginners . Clip downs are useful when you have a strong headwind.
I've just purchased a very basic set up to try sea fishing for the first time in my life ! (well any fishing really, I've never cast a rod in my life!) , i've found these videos to be superb, informative and laid back. I can't wait to start !
Your videos have been a great help to me. I'm new at this, so new infact, I haven't even gone fishing yet. As I will be on my own I have no one to ask your videos are just like having a mate who can help you when you need it.
If in UK,no,not yet.But the pier will probably make a small charge for using it.Generally just a few pounds.Beaches are free, unless otherwise stated,or you are near a marina etc, moored boats.Always best to check locally, but wide open beaches there is generally no problem
The mussels we have are very soft out of the shell. They are a good bait, but you have to bind them on the hook with elasticated thread or they explode everywhere on the cast. They cast better with a clipped down rig.Great for wrasse from the shore,or cod and whiting from a boat.
What a pleasure to watch! My 9 year old has asked me to take him fishing from our caravan in Llandudno... I've only ever done freshwater fishing so these beginner tips were great! thanks guys!
Thanks for this video. I just started fishing again and can't get enough of these beginners videos. I've been out practising along the beach here in Norfolk. So far no fish supper but it's August so just feeding the crabs. It won't be long now till we see all the twinkling lights along the beach and hopefully a few suppers being caught. I used to fish with my grandfather's rod and reel at Gorleston, it was a rigid rod and a wooden reel the line was so stiff in winter it helped prevent bird nests and I needed an 8oz lead to get it out there. We always caught something with whatever bait we could find whether it was earth worms or bacon fat or left over lug from other fishermen. You needed a strong thumb to cast and got a callous from stopping the reel. No fancy tackle, but the fish were there. Happy days!
Its very easy for beginners to be overwhelmed with everything starting off. Keep it simple, few ready made rigs and worms will be more than enough. Good to see someone take their kids out, tight lines!
Graeme you're the best, totally entertaining keeping the passion alive. I haven't beach fished the east coast for over twenty years but watching your films have rekindled my interest in sea fishing. Due to your enthusiasm I decided to dust down my rods buy some new stuff and fish my first session this week. A few whiting and a solitary dab from Aldeburgh made my trip wothwhile, so I'll definitely will be going again soon. Totally Awesome!
Don't know the area, but I remember they used big clumps of mussel meat bound onto the hook with elasticated thread. That was years ago, but I bet it would still work. Two more good beach films done last week. Go up in about 10 days. Lots of tackle rig tips from real experts. Worth watching. Plus plenty of fish of course.
even though im at a different country, i still found the tips useful. thanks for the freat tips, wonderful camera work, clear commentary and just plain awsome fun.
It depends what ground you are fishing over and what the bass might be feeding on.If over open sandy beaches try lugworm, ragworm, sandeels or razorfish. If over broken ground, fillet of fresh mackerel, peeler crab, hermit crab,or frozen launce(a big sandeel)
My carp fishing has not been to good this year so i looking to try sea fishing, excellent video, no fancy tackle with results plus great to see the guys putting the small ones back.
I have done wading/surfcasting from Cape Hatteras up to Cape Cod etc, mostly for Red Drum/Bluefish so know that wading is more popular over your way. Here, the emphasis is on longer casting techniques, so no need to wade. I think our guys can put a lead out almost 300 yards on a field now ? and many can fish baits over 150 yards, so no need to wade. Good point though, but we don't seem to get the rips you do.
Don't know the lakes, and don't know Paddock Wood. At moment making beach films, but maybe we will get up that way. Another beach tips film from a top pro in our exlusive Totally Awesome interview in a day or so,so keep watching.
Hadn't been fishing in years until just yesterday, enjoyed it so much decided to treat myself to a new rod and hoping to get into beach fishing on a more regular basis. Great video for a beginner like me, very informative, thanks a lot :)
Yes, there's something about the unexpected when shore fishing. And its great to get out in the open air anyway. Good luck with it, and try some night fishing. Often better in shallower waters.
This was Totally Awesome!!! thank you, I learned a ton. I'm going to try this here in Florida. We call it surf fishing. Thank you again for sharing cant wait to see part 2.
Really enjoyed this. Properly back to budget basics and just enough to get you started out. Will be digging my old beachcaster and lamp later to take to Barmouth next week. Mighty even knock up a makeshift tripod. Many thanks.
The boats are catching them off the "Blocks" off Southsea right now, fish to 4lbs recently, but I would forget Hayling, and fish off the Southsea shoreline as youwill be closer to the Plaice mark. Anytime from now through to May is good.
Depends where you live. In the north there are still codling about. In the south it can be a bit dead,a few whiting and dabs, with school bass and flatfish in about another 6 weeks time. The Bristol Channel usually offers the best fishing about now.
I have fished areas like Cape Cod,Hatteras,Delaware, etc, but its nearly always been with lures for bluefish. When we bait fished it was always with fish like Menhaden,or other chunk baits.I never saw anglers use worms over there. Certainly the rig should work, but I would fancy it with a long thin strip of squid .Should work,at least worth a try.Send us a picture if you get anything, and remember, spread the word about the new Show !! We have another beach film going up in a day.Keep watching for it.
i like this video so much and yes, also you guys.. i like it when you guys are not selfish in sharing your wisdom in fishing techniq... you guys are the best... thumbs up for you..
Awesome Tips!!! I have tried but I haven't caught a fish in 4 years! I began to doubt my techniques. Now I finally can be confident that I know what I'm doing! Thank You!
enjoyed the show very much and learned alot. I am the worst fisherman you even saw, but I sure have fun. I will keep watching and learning . Thanks for all the tips.
I am just starting out, im from Edinburgh Scotland and fished granton harbour last year which was really good for mackerel and just moved my fishing spot to musselburgh harbour this year and sometimes the union canal for pike, loving the videos TA Fishing, keep up the good work
I’m going to be be getting back in to fishing. Haven’t been for so long. This looks like a great channel can’t wait to get some more tips and get down to the beach. Cheers
I love your Light I have had the red painted one ...lots of green painted ones both double and single mantel ...but never the nickel plated one...That's the best one I have ever seen,,,,I am totally envious
A 2 foot or so length of 1 1/2" plastic drainpipe, sawn to a point works well on sandy beaches as a rod rest. I've used this & put it in the suitcase on foreign holidays!!
Loved it reminded me of my childhood making stuff I needed rather than buying like a do now lol. Was completely obsessed by sea fishing living in clacton sent half my childhood on the pier with rod in hand. Coming back into it now again after several years break.
Great back to basics stuff. I used to fish the Thames estuary at Grain and All Hallows..used to have some great weekends on the beach..I now fish here in Norther Germany ..same stuff applies here and now as then.. Keep it simple and keep alert ! .. Keep up the good work fella´s.. Jim
Sure. That will hold your bait in the same spot if there is no strong wind or tide flow. But the wired breakout of nose-wired leads will hold even better in areas of strong tides.
No idea on brands. Mine are very old Conoflex(Sussex) rods. I don't use anything else.12 feet, two piece, cast 4/6 ounce, maybe a bit more if there are rough seas/wind to contend with. I haven't a clue what the other latest brands are,I rarely go in a tackle shop. Why not see what is about secondhand on ebay ? Could save you some money if you just want some startup gear.Or maybe a couple of local sea fishing clubs. They might have members that could give/sell you some tackle.
Yes,but they are a predatory sea worm.Pincers inside, and the larger sizes are called King ragworm.I have seen them 18 inches long.Generally dug from gritty based beaches and estuaries rather than soft mud.
New to your channel but I'm just gonna say in my opinion the best and also most basic knot for beginners is probably the grinner. Just saying if your new it will help you soo much.
i have been beach fishing at chesil beach in dorset for about a couple of years now. I am quite unsure of a lot of basics even though i do manage to catch a few fish. Thank you Soooooooo much for your videos they are absolutely intelligent from a teaching point of view and dead clear a top job THANK YOU.
never underestimate old smelly dead rag worm its an awesome bait..and some times it exactly what you need and will pull fish in when other baits wont...but great little vid guys well done :).
Just found your channel and there is years worth of your quality fishing tips and laughs ..just watched your back pack fishing episode and it’s great when you start cooking bacon 🥓
after being interested in fishing for years , but never actually going , couple months ago found a fishing buddy and armed myself with some reasonably priced gear , watched your videos and got out there, we had a family holiday to anglesey, north wales in which myself and my fishing buddy (who turns out to be my Fiancés sister's boyfriend , so that was handy as he was there) went fishing pretty much everyday, anyway long story short , we're well and truly hooked, and have since suffered many a' ear bashing for spending practically any moment we can fishing........ luckily were already seasoned pros in the art of selective hearing :) thanks for all the videos !! :D
Any tips for bait fishing the Bristol channel this time of year? Heading off to watchet next week and i seem to be the only person alive in the uk hasn't yet caught a doggie, i seem to be a damn whiting magnet haha
Watchet is a good place to start. Ideal for breaking your "Doggie Duck" !! Try frozen sandeel(there's a shop in Watchet High street),or strip of mackerel.Top bait would be fresh mackerel, but catching the mackerel is always a problem now they are commercialled so much. Try frozen. And try at night.Better still for dogfish.
TAFishing would popping into morrisons in mine head suffice? ah that may be where I'm going wrong I've been mainly using unwashed squid on a pennel pulley rig, thanks for the advice , i'll let you know if i land one, i just hope the eels give the doggies half a chance ha
Great work! Fantastic info for a beginner like me! Simple and straight to the point. Love all the music you use in the background. You know how to fish and even better edit the videos.
Not sure what you mean by "matching"? We use Conoflex rods, based in Sussex, they should help you out with a rod if you tell them what your type of fishing is. For reels its a minefield of models. There's a cheaper make called STORM .We have just got the Firestorm 65.I think they retail about £49.Akios is a good make but a lot more money. So is Shimano, who have good gears.I think you need to talk to Tony Kirrage at his shop in Eastbourne. None of our outfits are matching.
Got some cheap kit and hoping to start beach fishing around Weymouth this year. The train is only 17.00 return so hoping leave car at home lol. Just got to find some fishing not to far [getting old lol] from the station. Enjoy your vids ,great work , thanks.
Love your videos. Like to bring up the point that there are many types of “beach fishing”. In the Gulf coast of Florida, casting out a long way is not very effective. Some of the biggest fish (snook) are literally 5 to 10 feet from the edge of the water. These fish troll the channels made by crashing waves looking for bait fish. In this case you must sight fish using polarized sunglasses, get well in front of the fish, back up from edge, cast and wait for them to swim to your bait. I’ve caught a snook as long as my leg using this method. The second channel, usually 20 to 30 feet offshore holds different fish depending on season. If you cast far offshore in this sort of the world you’ll most likely catch catfish and small sharks.
I think this video is good too because people mostly think you're going to be catching 50lb fish all the time- and then they rig with big baits, big hooks, stiff rods, etc. But mostly, you are going to catch smaller fish, so should plan and rig accordingly (but still be prepared for large fish- don't go too light of tackle!) at least, that's how I think here in the states.
I've been freshwater fishing for a year now and this has got me thinking I need to have a go at beach fishing to and going for the shakespeare starter kits on ebay.
Thank you so much for taking your time in explaining all those details. I have to drive a long time to go beachfishing and it is quite difficult to find proper teaching. I am really relying on videos like yours and on the advice of the occasional fisherman to learn seafishing. Please keep up the great work.
I've been enjoying TAF with my kids, Olive, 5 & Frank, 3. Olive refers to Grahame as the "Funny Man". They both love watching & coming fishing with me occasionally. I'm fairly new to some of this & it's been helpful. I'm normally more of a kayak angler, but am about to enjoy enforced pier fishing due to breaking my hip a week ago. Thanks for the lesson. Just awaiting delivery of a mobility scooter so I can get out there.
Hi Patrick, sorry to hear about your hip. Hope your recover well. Thanks for the kind comments we are glad you and your kids have been enjoying the show :) Keep watching we have plenty more awesome episodes in the pipeline!
Great video, I've been into beach fishing for many years but have been on a break due to the previous 'enforcement officer' :) Luckily I'm back into it now. Great tips. I had a more permanent reflector made for my anchor light out of polished stainless steel, by a friend in an engineering factory. They're easily made, if you have a friend who knows what they're doing....
Living in the centre of birmingham i have no intension of sea fishing... i have every intension to watch all your uploads though. Thank you for the quality content
Just been given my first rod at the age of 65.Have always fancied fishing off a beach/pier/rocks so thanks for the video.Great teacher
Great video. Lots of practical advice. Thanks.
Thanks for the positive comment, spread the word on forums etc! There are still lots of anglers that dont know we exist! Especially beginners.
Am 42yrs now, not been fishing since late twenties. I used to fish of Morecambe bay, park up, put football on the radio and just cast out. It was a chill thing to do. Talk to others, sandwich, flask. You, Sir, have a magnificent teaching style. I could listen to you talk about fishing for hours. Thanks for this wonderful presentation.

Hi
I've just purchased a very basic set up to try sea fishing for the first time in my life ! (well any fishing really, I've never cast a rod in my life!) , i've found these videos to be superb, informative and laid back. I can't wait to start !
this is what its about, simple , informative and doesn't have to be expensive. Thanks guys , truly awesome , thanks for taking the time to film.

We're here to help the average angler! Hope you enjoy the videos
Christopher Lilley ask local people on social media like Facebook I'm sure their will be some friendly fishermen that will show you the ropes
Make an account on the world sea angling forums
I've been watching your beach fishing videos for a while now Graeme and you have really helped me along , with loads of useful tips .

My boys keep asking me to take them fishing, so I’m watching all the videos I can. Yours are the best!

@@TAFishing I fished through the night Graham and packed up at 5.30am it was hard going but good to be out there having a go, All thanks to you 😁

We have fished the Florida Keys a number of times, for Tarpon, sharks, permit, bonefish, sailfish etc, but not much shore fishing!

I have a question , the worm that you use what worm is that ?
Is a garden worm or something else ?
My carp fishing has not been to good this year so i looking to try sea fishing, excellent video, no fancy tackle with results plus great to see the guys putting the small ones back.

The Best Fishing show on Earth. We fish from the beach in south Alabama for whiting.
Finally a no nonsense basic video, learnt more in this video than 2 days reading forums
i like this video so much and yes, also you guys.. i like it when you guys are not selfish in sharing your wisdom in fishing techniq... you guys are the best... thumbs up for you..
Love your videos just started sharing them with my son. Passing it down to the next generation. Thank you.
Awesome Tips!!! I have tried but I haven't caught a fish in 4 years! I began to doubt my techniques. Now I finally can be confident that I know what I'm doing! Thank You!
I would use straight 50/70lb mono,as I'm not a lover of fluoro.I find it stiff. But can be OK to make anti-tangle snoods etc.
Always look forward to new videos by you, as a fisherman of 15 year I always pick up a few tips from them
enjoyed the show very much and learned alot. I am the worst fisherman you even saw, but I sure have fun. I will keep watching and learning . Thanks for all the tips.
Awesome video mate. I love fishing, but I'm always nervous to really learn and ask questions around my much more experienced fisher friends. Thanks
I am just starting out,
im from Edinburgh Scotland and fished granton harbour last year which was really good for mackerel and just moved my fishing spot to musselburgh harbour this year and sometimes the union canal for pike, loving the videos TA Fishing, keep up the good work
Good luck with the new fishing spots!
I’m going to be be getting back in to fishing. Haven’t been for so long. This looks like a great channel can’t wait to get some more tips and get down to the beach. Cheers

Whoa!!! So many great tips!!! So glad I happened upon your channel. Absolutely priceless!! Thank you so very much.
Jim

Thanks a mill for that. Your videos are great by the way !
TAFishing have you done a video in wales ?
+TAFishing how far do u need to cast out
+Sarah White I would say anything from 60 metres onwards should be enough to be in with the chance of a fish

Good vid.I am a complete novice but wish to start beach fishing, this vid taught me a lot.
Rarely off the beach. But I catch them spinning off rocks that drop into deep water. Feathers work better in deep water or from a boat.
Thanks for the filming, that was really enjoyable its given me my confidence back to have a go again. Got all the gear
New to your channel but I'm just gonna say in my opinion the best and also most basic knot for beginners is probably the grinner. Just saying if your new it will help you soo much.
Such a great guy, thanks for the tips!

i soo thoroughly enjoyed this video.. well done!!!!
djfunkychicken 👍
and rods, and trout stuff, and garden strimmers etc. At least they always used to.Maybe marketed under Masterline now ?
Best video I've found. Gives me the comfort o give it a crack on my local beach now.
Just found your channel and there is years worth of your quality fishing tips and laughs ..just watched your back pack fishing episode and it’s great when you start cooking bacon 🥓
I thought that whiting was smiling for the camera but then I realised it had heard you say you were putting it back. Great video, thanks.
Very knowledgeable and experienced all round fisherman mister Graeme is...

Great tips, guys!
Love all these hints & Tips for beginners like myself :-)

great tips for a newbie like me, gonna try this on next holiday, thx
VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY HELPFUL, I knew I could rely on you! Thanks, keep up the good work.
Got some cheap kit and hoping to start beach fishing around Weymouth this year. The train is only 17.00 return so hoping leave car at home lol. Just got to find some fishing not to far [getting old lol] from the station. Enjoy your vids ,great work , thanks.
Glad the video helps! Hope it works for you
Love your videos.
This is so informative and professionally done, I thought it was a TV show, not a youtube video! Well done!
Thanks Tom! Glad you like it.
Really useful tips for beginner. Thank You, man
You are an amazing teacher...love your shows!!!
I think this video is good too because people mostly think you're going to be catching 50lb fish all the time- and then they rig with big baits, big hooks, stiff rods, etc. But mostly, you are going to catch smaller fish, so should plan and rig accordingly (but still be prepared for large fish- don't go too light of tackle!) at least, that's how I think here in the states.
as a beginner i love this video .. thanks guys ...
nice to watch the video editing done is so good!!
TOP VIDEOS I HAVE JUST STARTED TO FISH RECENTLY THIS HAS HELPED ME VERY MUCH THANKS
Just turned 60 got my first rod thanks for the info have just subscribed waiting for the next one👍👍
From various tackle shops ? The rods are more specialist as they are old and might only now be on ebay ?
Great video, I've been into beach fishing for many years but have been on a break due to the previous 'enforcement officer' :) Luckily I'm back into it now. Great tips.
I had a more permanent reflector made for my anchor light out of polished stainless steel, by a friend in an engineering factory. They're easily made, if you have a friend who knows what they're doing....
Great video. I love beach fishing. I live in S. W. Florida and am able to surf fish year round.
Living in the centre of birmingham i have no intension of sea fishing... i have every intension to watch all your uploads though. Thank you for the quality content
With everything of all species I put up you probably don't even need to go fishing at all...just enjoy ...
Great show!!! We are surf fishermen from Texas!!!
Dude you're awesome. Been fishing for 2 months and not landed anything. Gonna try all these tips out
