- Transition Lens on your Eyeglasses are great. But they are not for everyone. Why? As convenient and money saving as they are by changing colors when exposed to UV light, some people do not like them or it may not be the right fit for them. In this video, we will review why you will fall in love with transition lens or won't even consider it even if it's given to you for free.

My review on some rare and exclusive Japanese made Oliver Peoples.

Had them. Worked great in Winter at low temps. But in Summer when you really need darker lenses they didn't get as dark.
Thank you for explaining in detail.
What is the frame brand you showed in the video.
Great video 🤓 thank you
Eye loved this! I used to work in the optical industry for about 10 years and feel this niche is underserved. From a fellow AHN friend!
Thanks jennifer for the words of encouragement! What is your hustle now? Are you still in the optical industry?
I left that field about 5 years ago, I used to do marketing in the optical industry and left about 5 year ago. Now I do marketing consulting for start up and medium sized businesses!
@@jenniferyip3881 hi, im trying to get my mott and bayard asian fitting brand off the ground. Www.mottandbayard.com. Email my at kennethm@mkeyewear.com and we can chat to see if you can help
@@eyeguyken8042 Will do!
Hey Doc! is there different type of transitions.. like scale lighter to darker color? or its fixed? THanks!
Its generally fix but again transition is a brand from essilor. Different photochromatic brands go lighter and darker and the xtractive brand has a slight tint throughout
Thanks
I have them, and my vision is really weird when the lenses go dark. It feels like I’m walking through a dark tunnel.
It’s the same with sunglasses not not as dark
My transition lenses did not work correctly, they did not change to deep dark staying halfway blueish. My sunglasses are always dark even when I drive, and my regular glasses are always clear, and I like that. And in case I forget my sunglasses I have dark magnetic shields to put over regular lenses, that cost less than glasses.
I wear my first transition for 3 years and it completely stopped turning into sunglasses no matter how much sunlight i exposed to it. Right now I am wearing the extra active which I got it in 2019 after about a year and a half it's no more extra active very slow responding to sunlight. I got it on June 2019 and as soon as the summer of 2021 came around it was very slow responding to sunlight.
Hi Abdul, that is odd. All the frames I use I had transition in them and they have lasted longer and responds pretty quick than what you mentioned. A year or so ago, they came out with Transition 8 which lasts longer. Make sure the optical is giving you that instead of older models or generic photochromatic lenses
They last 1-3 years depending on use
I need them in Southern Nigeria 🇳🇬
someone wouldn't have to have 2 different pairs of glasses while driving in sun because they can just get a clip on shade in dark gray/black for their eyeglasses. the clip ons are inexpensive and many are universal shape/size. this solves the problem of windshield blocking UV rays so that transition lenses aren't activated.
That will only work for driving.... some people work jobs where they can't afford to have clips on and taking em off...its bothersome and not worth it. Even if i was driving I would still prefer to not do anything...hence worry-free transitions.
Now-a-days with the online eyeglass retailers it's actually cheaper to just buy the Sunglasses.
I cant keep up with a phone charger let alone two pairs of glasses 😂😂😂
The eyeglass place I just went to said the transitions they have would change in the car.. Is that a lie?
Hi suzanne, thanks for the question. There is a brand of transition called xtractive that does and warrants a video itself. The drawback of that is it has a slight tint when you are not exposed to uv light. The regular transition do not change colors completely in the car.
@@eyeguyken8042 thanks so much for your fast reply! The lady said they would have about a 5% tint indoors that's not really noticeable. I hope that's the case!
That’s a lie
The prices you brought up are insane, I recently bought two pairs of transition glasses, one Fossil and one Polaroid both with transition lens' and it has only cost me £183 for them both together, this being because of a free pair offer on the fossil's,
The transition lens' themselves cost £55 extra for each pair.
I thought he was a little generous with the price I just paid $179 for just the transition portion of the lenses and I also got the anti reflective coating with the transition lenses they have to be polycarbonate so you have to pay more for that
Well u said it urself: u got a free pair. Congrats. Here in Canada u will easily spend $600 😓
It depends on how they are made, I had glasses from Specsavers which failed after a few years, turned out the photochromic lens was only a coating [ used to be embedded in the glass], I was walking round with 1 clear lens and 1 dark lens
🤓 My transitional lenses are great 😎 NO Problem.
I didn’t know they don’t transition in the car that’s a big deal
It is. I'm a truck driver that had a job where I was driving directly toward the sun for about 2 hours a day. Told an eye place this, and they still sold me transitions
Do you know how they test in the third world countries?
You need a better mic Doc..
Good stuff.
Not all ppl have to have a mic it depends on if they want it or not
Also needs a better haircut.
I think I'll have 1:36
Glasses
Doc thanks but you need to work on the mic, haircut and background music
How silly. To think the haircut matters. I’m here for the info. You look like a beach. Do I judge your profile pix?😂
Why are you wearing empty frames?
good catch! When recording the video, the light will reflect off my lens and you won't be able to see my eyes if i didn't pop out the lens.
Moscott frames are over priced buy zenni on line save hundreds
I do not need them.
okay cool 👍🏼
Terrible audio.
Transition lenses are so ugly don’t get them imo
well too late I already got them lol
Why is it ugly?
