I actually think they look ok on me, I'm not a big guy. I have ordered some lenses for them and they are the photofusionX in green. I’ve got the photofusion X (blue with ruby flash) and have to agree they are great at the speed in which they change tint and how clear they are indoors. However I’ve never seen them go as dark outdoors as they did when the optician tested them in store under his UV testing lamp, so that’s a bit disappointing. Perhaps Zeiss can fix that in their next version of Photofusion technology.
This comment I have the blue only time they go dark is when I have put them in yhe freezer for 5 min then put them by the window and they hot really dark😂😂😂. Otherwise, they just show a little blue tint

Hi mate, would any tint + flash be suitable for indoor use (eg computer, reading etc)? I saw you recommended the extra grey + diamond flash, would that work? Would you say the lens wide open is clearer or darker than the Hoya Sensity Shine Silver? In short, I love the mirror look (Zeiss or Hoya) but I'm worried that the default tint might be a tad too dark for all indoor usage. Hi. I have a question - I have a pair of smart life digital glasses in a rimless frame. I am planning to get another frame with say clear view lens with photo fusion x. Will there be adaptability issues when I switch the 2 glasses? My eyes are very sensitive to changes lens.
I have a pair o MENTEs with glossy Havana color for six months. I wear them every day all day and the finish is as new ❤ i really love gast!! great value for money.
That's a cool thought! Why don't you checkout the Eco eyewear collection, they offer a detachable sunglass clip, check out our video on them ruclips.net/video/DK0xxw3Rkxw/видео.html
Thanks for a great review! How clear are the PhotoFusion X in the when it is the clearest (indoor in the dark without UV) compared to Transitions Gen 8? I don’t have a problem with reaction time but I do have a problem with the fact that my Essilor Varilux X 4D Transitions Gen 8 (brown) give a slight yellow/brown tint indoor even if not exposed to any UV-light. I like the concept of having clear lens indoor and sunglasses outdoor without switching glasses. I can’t find the numbers of how clear the different competitors (Essilor Varilux Transitions Gen 8 vs. Zeiss PhotoFusion X vs. PhotoFusion X with Flash Mirror vs. Rodenstock)? Are there any independent tests? Does Zeiss Flash version have more tint indoor than PhotoFusion X without Flash?
You can see in the video just how clear they are indoors. The flash does add more tint indoors (which most people greatly prefer). I wouldn't buy photochromic lenses to replace sunglasses, but they are a great addition to a good eyewear wardrobe as a 3rd option which is kind of a hybrid between clear glasses and sunglasses. Super versatile.
@@thespectaclefactory ok, SO THAT's your advice. If I already have sunglasses, it's better to fit those with prescription-complying Zeiss sunglass lenses than get Photofusion on my regular lenses. Got it.
Can I ask whats your eyesight? Mine is -8 and in my case larger the frsme thicker the edges. But sunglasses dont look with thinner rectangular frames. I am using hi-index lenses would it be a good idea to select these?
My concern with PFX is that it comes with blue guard. I don't want any blue guard because when I am photographed you will not see my eyes, Just that blue glare that it gives off. Can you get them without the blue guard? I am not concerned with blue light damaging my eyes, because blue light does not damage eyes... it will however keep me from falling asleep faster.
First of all, thank you for a very nice video and I appreciate your affords a lot. I am a fan of your channel. I thank you for the informative and educational content you provide - in this video and other as well :) Now about the lenses, I hope you can give me some advices - Currenty I own the stock photofusion X one but I got some unpleasant reflective light sometimes around the edge that caught my attention all of a sudden - mostly a reflection from artificial light I think and it is pretty dangerous when I was driving too. Though I know that it is not especially design to be wore driving at night, it is the time when these reflections are at worst. Is this normal? Idk whether this is because of the blue light protection or not as it tends to reflect the blue light, highlighting the unnatural reflection experience. It is my first glasses so may be I just don't get used to it yet. I don't know much about how things should be. Anyways, this made me thinking of having a drivesafe instead as it has anti-reflective coat which I hope it will solve this problem. However I'm still indecisive whether it can be an all-round lenses or not as I spend lots of time reading too - both from screens and books Btw, a condition in my country is quite different from UK. It is very sunny with harsh sunlight to the extend that sometimes the tint is activated- pretty dark inside of a car. I don't know if this a factor causing the problem or not.
Respected Sir/ Madam, I would like to know few details about problem faced by my son regarding Chronic light sensitivity, headache and nerve pull in his body when he focus on light or opens his eye and visualise surrounding. He used power glass and black coated sunglass. But still his severity has increased very badly. Can you please let me know if their is any treatment for this issue as he is finding very difficulty to travel around including at home.... Thanks & Regards Mano
Very difficult to advise on remotely I'm afraid, but sunglasses may not be the best option as they will increase photosensitivity. A moderate tint will likely be the best option, but as for the colour it's hard to know without doing some tests
Robert, can PhotoFusionX work with 1.74 lenses? In the past I was told Zeiss’ photochromic could only do 1.67 max, which is why I’ve always been told to go with Nikon if I needed 1.74 because they work with Transitions.
Unfortunately not. However, depending on your Rx and frame choice, you might get an equal result with 1.67 Zeiss as you do with 1.74 Nikon. And if you're really after the thinnest possible, you could get 1.9 glass photochromic...
@@thespectaclefactory My optometrist here in the USA just called the Zeiss lab and confirmed that PFX is available in 1.74 progressive lenses but only in gray, brown and xtra gray.
Do you know how long PhotoFusion X lifespan is? It seems most photochromic lenses have a span of 2-3 years and I'd be interested to know if these are any different.
I have three pair of glasses with PhotoFusion X, and my problem with Transitions is not the reaction time -- I just don't care -- but I think PhotoFusion is superior because the colors of the lenses are BEAUTIFUL. Transitions are AWWWWWWWWFUL. The "grey" is this terrible shade I call Molester Purple. Yikes, lol. There is always a terrible undertone. The grey in PhotoFusion is gorgeous. The sapphire is stunning. That's why I love them. PhotoFusion does not get as dark as Transitions. I will die on that hill. But I don't care about that either.
can you show a comparison of Photofusion X to a Transition Xtractive New Gen? then i will agree to what you mentioned as the title in the video 🙂...are you ready?
@@thespectaclefactory - Thank you Robert. I will keep that in mind when it is time for me to get my new specs. NGL, the additional 'post-Brexit' customs duty really dissuade me :)) .
They're the best? Even better than hoya sensity dark and transitions xtractive new generation? Can you do a comparison video between these? Nobody else has done it! You should be the first!
I might do! Zeiss have their equivalent of Xtractive and Sensity Dark which is called Extra Grey. But all 3 are a compromise for people who try to replace their sunglasses with light reactive lenses - a really bad idea. Normal photochromic lenses (whether Transitions, Sensity or PhotoFusion) always work best when not trying to work behind the windshield - which is where good sunglasses are absolutely essential.
@@thespectaclefactory this is where I don't know what j should do as my eyes are light sensitive and in the past I always just had regular glasses and carried my sunglasses. I thought maybe having photochromatic lenses would be a good enough compromise for someone like myself, but maybe having two is a better choice or just save up and get one photochromatic and one regular sunglass. I've never tried photochromatic lenses before so I figured Its no better time than now to try them they seem much better these days!
@@Rimorox If you're light sensitive (like me), honestly the best combination would be a pair with 25% tint for general use, and an Adaptive Sun pair (which I mentioned in this video)
@@thespectaclefactory do you think a 25% tint would affect the color on screens enough to be a problem for me since I'm a graphic designer/3D designer and work in color reproduction a lot
Hi. Essilor Crizal Easy Pro & Zeiss LotuTec/ Duravision Platinum. Which one is better & quality, bro ?! Thanks 🙏🏼 Your channel is very nice & usefull, definitely will develop/ success more 🎉 👍🏼
Today when trying to order PhotoFusion X, I was told they don't clear 100% indoors even without flash. I thought that was a guarantee in order to even argument about replacing sunglasses. Talk about replacing normal glasses!
This is why numbers are important. It is true that Photofusion doesn't go 100% clear. The previous generation start from a base tint of 8% and go up to 89%, and this isn't a secret or anything, you can literally find the Zeiss lens catalogue online. The point is that an 8% tint is barely noticeable and I don't think there's anything wrong with using "clear" as a descriptive term for it. The more important point that Rob mentioned in this video was that PFX doesn't actually reach the marketed 89%, which is one reason why they're not ideal as a sunglass replacement. But indoors, to all extents and purposes, they are normal glasses.
This video feels weird and fishy, like it’s been paid for or something. There’s no comparison to transitions at all so why are you saying it destroys them? You didn’t even show how long they take to go back to clear.
I always had the most (and way too) expensive purple looking Zeiss glasses (bought in Germany). Now I got Nikon lenses in Japan - Jesus Christ - no way I go back.
Transitions have effectively monopolized the American market. I've never had the chance to experience this brand. Sometimes, ignorance is bliss. Sadly.
I understand, that auther is obsessed with Zeiss, but in reality there's nothing special in PFs. 8 gen Transitions along with Sensity 2 stay the most stable and best working photochromic technology nowdays. The longest durability of pch molecules, best nano-composite matrix and time of reaction. Not to mention that its drive versions, Dark and Xtractive have additional light sources to react and are fully independent from temperature around. People nowadays pay for Zeiss lenses only because of the brand and definitely not the quality. For quality and innovations you go to Hoya, Essilor, Shamir and BBGR.
Our channel focusses on high quality glasses - we offer good value frames that fit within this same 'high quality' category too, such as the Gast frames I am wearing in this video.
Are there any situations you'd like me to test PhotoFusion X in? Let me know 👇
I'd love to see u walk back inside and see how long they go back to clear
If possible try them at ambient temperature 35C. They stop tinting and remain almost clear.
In the car do they get a little darker ? Also are they very slightly tinted inside or completely 100% clear ?

I’m 23 male and have a -6 rx, I have to wear glasses everyday due to dry eye disease.. I like plastic frames but the temples always give me headaches.. could you recommend some nice brands with more flexible temples.. ideally I’d like to barely feel like I’m wearing anything
You need Reykjavik Eyes - check out my videos on them
Are these glasses suitable for driving in the sun and for night driving?
How to order online?

Hi. I have a question - I have a pair of smart life digital glasses in a rimless frame. I am planning to get another frame with say clear view lens with photo fusion x. Will there be adaptability issues when I switch the 2 glasses? My eyes are very sensitive to changes lens.
Or should I opt for smartlife digital with photo fusion x to avoid the adaptability issue
There shouldn't really be any adaptability issues - I wear both interchangeably without issues.
Thanks for the video.
How does Photofusion X destroy Transitions? It was not addressed at all even though it is part of the title. Please explain.
I have a pair o MENTEs with glossy Havana color for six months. I wear them every day all day and the finish is as new ❤ i really love gast!! great value for money.
Thanks for sharing!!
Would be better if it was activate by touch. There are some situation outside I don't want them dark
That's a cool thought! Why don't you checkout the Eco eyewear collection, they offer a detachable sunglass clip, check out our video on them
ruclips.net/video/DK0xxw3Rkxw/видео.html
Great format. Good with some variety. What is your opinion about XtraActive Polarized? I have been reading about them.
They are pretty good, but I would never recommend them since a separate pair of polarised lenses is always better
Great Videos
Please make a video about how to take care of the photofusion x lenses
I'd say just the same care you would give to any other lenses really.
Thanks
I'm about -1
You can definitely get -8 lenses in PhotoFusion but frame choice is very important
Have they fixed the issue with the chemistry not working well in hot temperatures yet?
They are pretty nice

My concern with PFX is that it comes with blue guard. I don't want any blue guard because when I am photographed you will not see my eyes, Just that blue glare that it gives off. Can you get them without the blue guard? I am not concerned with blue light damaging my eyes, because blue light does not damage eyes... it will however keep me from falling asleep faster.
The whole point of BlueGuard is that it's an invisible lens treatment. It's not a coating so there is no 'blue glare'
Can photofusion X save me from harsh summer afternoon light? Of Dubai?
The extra grey option + flash coating, definitely! Sunglasses are always better but that combination will work well
First of all, thank you for a very nice video and I appreciate your affords a lot. I am a fan of your channel. I thank you for the informative and educational content you provide - in this video and other as well :)
Now about the lenses, I hope you can give me some advices -
Currenty I own the stock photofusion X one but I got some unpleasant reflective light sometimes around the edge that caught my attention all of a sudden - mostly a reflection from artificial light I think and it is pretty dangerous when I was driving too.
However I'm still indecisive whether it can be an all-round lenses or not as I spend lots of time reading too - both from screens and books
Btw, a condition in my country is quite different from UK. It is very sunny with harsh sunlight to the extend that sometimes the tint is activated- pretty dark inside of a car. I don't know if this a factor causing the problem or not.
Robert, the only thing you didn't mention was whether they get dark in the car. This is the question I get asked mostly in my store.
Yeah, only the extra grey version goes dark behind the windshield.
Sorry i didn't feel that tint behind the windshield at all with extra grey
Respected Sir/ Madam,
I would like to know few details about problem faced by my son regarding Chronic light sensitivity, headache and nerve pull in his body when he focus on light or opens his eye and visualise surrounding.
He used power glass and black coated sunglass. But still his severity has increased very badly.
Can you please let me know if their is any treatment for this issue as he is finding very difficulty to travel around including at home....
Thanks & Regards
Mano
Very difficult to advise on remotely I'm afraid, but sunglasses may not be the best option as they will increase photosensitivity.
A moderate tint will likely be the best option, but as for the colour it's hard to know without doing some tests
Thank you so much for your response....
Mine are going on 6 years soon. Just as dark.
I agree with all of your observations, and likewise I don't care about reaction speed at all either. But most people do
can you show a comparison of Photofusion X to a Transition Xtractive New Gen? then i will agree to what you mentioned as the title in the video 🙂...are you ready?
I will be doing soon hopefully

@@thespectaclefactory - Thank you Robert. I will keep that in mind when it is time for me to get my new specs. NGL, the additional 'post-Brexit' customs duty really dissuade me :)) .
Hi, just thought I'd let you know that we offer free worldwide shipping! I hope that helps :)
@@thespectaclefactory - Excellent !
Glad I could help!
Can they get dark inside the car? I hope so even if slightly
Not very much diue to car windows having UV filtering
@@thespectaclefactory Thanks for this golden comment-explanation. Helpful!
Hi. Essilor Crizal Easy Pro & Zeiss LotuTec/ Duravision Platinum. Which one is better & quality, bro ?!
Thanks 🙏🏼
Your channel is very nice & usefull, definitely will develop/ success more 🎉 👍🏼
Today when trying to order PhotoFusion X, I was told they don't clear 100% indoors even without flash. I thought that was a guarantee in order to even argument about replacing sunglasses. Talk about replacing normal glasses!
Hopefully you can see from my video that this isn't the case as mine are clear when indoors.
Please show Blue one
To what group of people would you recommend getting a clip-on instead of a photofusion add-on?
Those who want their glasses to function well as sunglasses when in the car, and/or like to be in control of the tint level of their glasses.
Eu tenho essas lentes são maravilhosas
I always had the most (and way too) expensive purple looking Zeiss glasses (bought in Germany). Now I got Nikon lenses in Japan - Jesus Christ - no way I go back.
Specs of your Nikon lenses? Comparison with Zeiss?
Transitions have effectively monopolized the American market. I've never had the chance to experience this brand. Sometimes, ignorance is bliss. Sadly.
Hopefully we can make a pair for you when you're ready
I have my Photofusion X Extra Gray and it is fantastic... Transitions is not bad, its just mediocre compare to zeiss photofusion
💯
BBGR lol
Zeiss and Shamir are the most innovative lens companies
well said 😊👍
PhotoFusion X is awesome but since I love my sunglasses they are unneeded for me.
I agree - I would usually default to my sunglasses but these can be a useful addition to an eyewear wardrobe.
This content creator has a channel that contains a video aimed at rich people only. I did not find it talking about cheap eye glasses
What are you talking about?
Our channel focusses on high quality glasses - we offer good value frames that fit within this same 'high quality' category too, such as the Gast frames I am wearing in this video.
Destroys? Maybe not...
Too bad they include bluegard, I dont see why they are pushing this stupid tech
What's the harm?
Blocking some color nuances, adding a layer of coating that can peel and overcharging you for something not proven@@thespectaclefactory
