    Photofusion X looks great
    The last time I got Zeiss blue light was the last. After 1 week I got rid of them. I even wrote Zeiss.
    1) at night you’d see a blue double of every street light.
    2) colors are off and look like they have a slight yellow. So definitely don’t get if you work in photography or branding etc
    3) when you do see reflections they are usually blue and stand out more.
    All these things got annoying to myself and made me never want any blue light filters. Plus the science is out on it. But maybe this new technology is better.

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  Год назад +5

      Well there is certainly no blue reflection on these lenses. Most people didn't have an issue with the old tech (it's dependent on the frame as to whether those reflections angle in to your eyes BTW) but a lot of people like yourself were sensitive to it. So it's great that you can get blue light protection now, if you want it of course, without a reflective finish.

  • @Reprobator
    @Reprobator Год назад +2

    I've just seen this after getting my first pair of Zeiss lenses. I got the Clearview 1.74s and to be brutally honest I haven't noticed a significant increase in sharpness. Maybe a marginal increase in sharp viewing area, although that may be complicated by the increased aberrations created by a higher rx and a higher index compared to a 1.5 lens and a smaller rx.
    The Platinum coating however? Phenomenal. Instantly noticed a reduction in reflections and the antistatic properties were a game changer in keeping them clean. I do like them a lot.

    • @Reprobator
      @Reprobator Год назад

      No, I'd had another pair also with 1.74 lenses in the same rx for a few months prior to getting the Clearviews. Still very nice lenses though and I found them very easy to adapt to compared to the previous pair. Always felt like I never fully adapted to the old pair but it was effortless with the Clearviews. Although of course this could be due to other factors like measurements and frame adjustment as you know. Always hard to tell.

      Yeah I think that will come next year when I have more experience with it. I don't like to rate something until I really know it inside out. And the thing with photochromic is that EVERYONE has a different opinion on them. Some people want them to go dark fast, some people want them the go clear fast, some people want them to go super dark, some people don't want them to go very dark. So I want to get feedback from my clients over the next few months.
      Plus on top of that, it's winter and therefore not the best time to be testing it.
      My first impressions are very good hence I felt comfortable including that in this video, but I wouldn't make a whole video about PhotoFusion X just yet.

UVA UVB protection is way more important and it's great to see this built in to a clear lens. Regarding the photofusion X under what conditions do they get to the darkest state? There is no such product made by Zeiss Germany as AS DriveSafe. The DriveSafe design is inherently not aspherical. Maybe in the US, where they licence the lens designs, they might be able to create weird combinations, but you would be losing most of the functionality of the product.
      The Zeiss freeform lens design is the most important component of DriveSafe. Changing it to aspherical would make no sense.

    May I add an explanation of why Clearview lenses are clearer and sharper than SmartLife lenses. I own Essilor's version of Clearview, though I forgot the name, but it has Essilor's stock lenses with sapphire coating.
    Clearview is tuned like the Vivid color setting on your television. It’s vivid, lively, and dynamic, but at the end of the day, I experience a lot of eyestrain because our eyes are immersed in such a vivid color environment.
    SmartLife, on the other hand, is like a TV set to either Standard or Comfort mode, which is less vivid, less dynamic, but precise and comfortable for the eyes.
    Clearer and sharper lenses are dynamic and lively, but they can be very tiring by the end of the day.

    I was blown away at just how terrible Clearview is with with HI 1.67 material. Got my prescription bumped up to -3 after using -2.5 for several years prior... and carelessly thought I would update my old chunky lenses with a thinner material. But gosh. They are super sharp in the center, yes. But the chromatic aberrations are terrible. The field of view is narrow, there is significant degradation if I look at anything at say 30 degree angle... Makes it a poor fit for everyday uses like say working with 2 monitors.
    Much worse than I was used to (my prior lenses were some old Hoya lenses... possibly made out of trivex, I forget... so thicker than I wanted... but far less optically compromised).
    Will try SmartLife and possiby move down to HI 1.6. I'm curious though: does PhotoFusion X introduce any optical compromises? I would be keen to add it too, but only if it comes without additional compromises.

    "No visible tint at all" - I got ClearView 1.74 -9.75 with Photofusion X grey and Blueguard. I put them in a crystal frame. The glass is yellow tinted. It looks really bad, because it renders the look of the clear Porsche frame useless. It looks like my liver is not working correctly. But why is it yellow? My optician told me it's normal, because Photofusion X leaves a 3% color (which is the first time I heard that, and the colour I chose is grey, not yellow…) and the material in combination with -9.75 also is yellow-ish. Is that really true? Is there any combination which gets me a really clear glass?

    - is clearview available in Europe (Italy)? Maybe not right now, maybe in next future, if you know please tell me
    - I've a smartlife lenses with blu protect. Although I found smartlife very comfortable, I'd like to have a focus between this and clearview. Also, blueprotect make my glasses reflect a blue violet light, I don't like it, but you seem you really enjoy this new blueguard. Are they really 'flat' with no blue reflections? Or just to be sure, should I avoid blueguard and just take what, duravision platinum all in one?
    - really like the frame! They seems to sell just online and not in store here in Italy (?), could you please tell me which model is this exactly?
    Thank you in advance, I did enjoy this video

      I'm sorry, I don't know about Italy. I would assume so!

      Exactly. Nobody has an anaotomically perfect eye, so it would be advisable to order with prescription (you *will* have a prescription, especially in the dark), otherwise the lenses won't funtion to their fullest extent.

    A month ago I bought new lenses. I went for the top of the line new Zeiss. Progressive lenses. I used to have Leica lenses which are amazing. After a month with the Zeiss I brought them back because they are not good at all. Feel dizzy, headaches, not clear and very small focus area. Hopefully it’s just a flaw on my lenses and it will be corrected. Anyway back with my Leica which even with a lesser correction than needed are way better.

Contrast is good but there is not much difference between it and an average lens in terms of clarity of vision. Of course, I did not have the opportunity to test the parts that require more technical measurements such as blue light and UV filtering rate, eye benefit, etc., but I was disappointed about antireflective.
