    This is quite literally the *exact* video I was looking for. I shoot with the FX-30 and Sigma 18-35 using the MC-11 and was curious how well I could make a speed boosted 24-70 work in comparison. Great video

    Viltrox also offers mc-11 like performance in af for much less ( though with less proper documentation using the hybrid pdaf/cdaf experimental firmware ).
    Mc11 and metabones is deff the main pillars that built ef to e adapters tho - so due respect to them.

    Very helpful video, thank you! I have a question. I have been using a Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 (APS-C) on GH4/5/6 with a help of the Speedbooster (EF-MFT). I recently bought a Sony FX-30. If I get a Speedbooster for the Sony E mount (i.e. EF-E), would I be able to use the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 without
    vignetting (i.e. dark corners), especially on the wide side (i.e. 18mm)? Thanks in advance.

    I just got the FX30 and I have 3 lenses from before (I also have the a6400). The Sigma 16mm f1.4m, The Sigma 30mm f1.4 and a Sony 18-105mm f4 which is good as long as there is enough light..but I have lots of Canon EF-S lenses for the Canon 90D (not full frame) and the increible Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 and the massive Sigma 50-100mm f1.8!!! and I think I would like to have the option to use them with the FX30 for some occasions...the 18-35mm on monopod for sure (I use the 16mm on a gimbal with the a6400) and the 50-100 on tripod only for interviews...so I'm interested in the Sigma mc-11- and I know that only my Sigma for Canon lenses will work well for video...I know that Canon EF-S WILL not fit on the MC11-only full frame but without video autofocus...so limiting! I have lots of Canon EF-S STM lenses I wish I could use. So my only option would be to get a second adapter that allows me to mount Canon EF-S lenses on the FX-30 even if I have to focus manually for video...or just buy Sony E mount lenses!! Which adapter will be ok for EF-S lenses to mount on the FX-30. The comlite is not good? The MC-11 would be nice for my two sigma for Canon lenses I guess. Too bad metabones doesn't seem to do well...I wish I could use some of my lenses for video on the Sony for sure...I'm still hoping for a Sigma zoom lens 18-35mm or 18-50mm f.1.8 for Sony APSC!!! I'm dreaming I know...

    You mention "tight fits" for the Metabones Speed Booster - 5.46/7.31 of your video. I've encountered this on a couple of purchases of Metabones Speed Boosters. Rather than risk the lens being "stuck" on either the camera body or the lens/adapter interface flange, I'd suggest you write Metabones, provide the serial # of the adapter in question and describe your problem. I've found that Daniel at Metabones is quite helpful and would probably provide you with another interface flange on the adapter in question. Also, because the fit tolerances are so tiny, even being kept in a excessively warmed area can result in expansion of the flange metal - making for a very tight fit.

    • @ReachFilms
      @ReachFilms  Год назад

      If you manually setup the ibis it should work but you will have to do a math reduction yourself so you have to take the full frame focal length and reduce it to whatever field of view that now is while being focal reduced. So it requires a bit more math

    • @ReachFilms

      No unfortunately speedboosters only work with lenses like canon because they take advantage of the space that is needed when using adapters on these camera bodies. Since the Sony lenses go right onto the lens mount there is no room for any kind of focal reducer

    • @ReachFilms

      Losing DoF is a misconception, when you are using a full frame lens on a crop sensor, when framing shots you aren’t sitting on the same focus plane as you would on full frame unless you are at minimum focus on both cameras. But yes simply you can get the full frame look with the speedbooster

  • @FosterMedia
    @FosterMedia 8 месяцев назад

    It doest make it a F2.0, it makes it a 2.8.
    when you crop for apsc, you also crop the Fstop, for 2.8 is becomes f4.2, the speed booster boosts the lens to a FF FOV, from 35 back op 24 roughly speaking and it boosts the 4.2 Fstop back to 2.8, again roughly speaking.

    • @ReachFilms
      @ReachFilms  8 месяцев назад +1

      We’re not talking about the depth of field f stop in this video, we are talking about actual light increase which is a stop of light more than what the lens would normally give

    • @ReachFilms
      @ReachFilms  8 месяцев назад

      Also the crop math isn’t exactly when you think because with a speedbooster your field of view is close to full frame, so an f2.8 isn’t exactly equal to a 2.8 depth of field because it isn’t fully equal to full frame but it’s way close than just doing that math with straight lens to sensor

    • @FosterMedia
      @FosterMedia 8 месяцев назад

      I appreciate that, but if the amount of light doesn't change. It does not increase light or Tstop to F/T2@@ReachFilms

    • @ReachFilms
      @ReachFilms  8 месяцев назад +2

      @@FosterMedia it absolutely changes when you use a speed booster that is a complete fact. The thing is , which confuses people is, let’s say you are at f1.8, when you use a speedbooster you get 1.2 when it comes to light, but that doesn’t give you the actual 1.2 when it comes to depth of field, just the amount of light. There are videos that go into the science of speedbooster way more in depth than mine that explain it in greater detail
