The FX30 was set on 5600K and you can see the warm color cast of the Sirui 24mm. It's about 4900k on a 5600k light. Thank you Gregory! I do think there's still a lot of work for horizontal work especially for indie filmmakers / documentary shooters. Budget anamorphic is a great market but I understand where you're coming from. I had to shift mine to 50% vertical now since most of the brands I've worked with just wants more vertical deliverables. It's more work and time for both parties to do it right but gotta stay in business lol I wish we go back to everything horizontal or even square-ish aspect ratios.

The problem is that it makes a nice big computer monitor or television look small. You waste so much of the screen to black. My TV has a 16:9 aspect ratio. My computer monitor has a 16:9 aspect ratio. So, shooting in 16:9 mode makes use of the full screen on both devices... making the picture look larger and more detailed.

Victor, do you have any recommendations for a similar camera to the FX30 that’s a little more budget friendly that would do well paired with an anamorphic lens?
Thanks goes to Kofi Yaboah for pointing me to your channel. I've actually seen a couple of your videos on the FX30 while I was researching it before buying my own FX30. This was an excellent video. And I have subscribed.
oh this is really well done. love it. i wanted to make something like this but you knocked it out of the park. you got a new subscriber just based on this video.
Genuinely surprised that you didn't mention Cooke in your lineup of Anamorphic big-dogs. Also, i know how anamorphic lenses work and what the whole technical shtick is about, but for anyone that doesn't, you jumped into the whole 'Monitor / Desqueeze' section *and the rest of the video) without any context whatsoever, despite the fact that the squeezed image is the singular thing that makes anamorphic anamorphic! Would've liked to have heard you give a little run-through of what makes anamorphic anamorphic, technically. - That bit of feedback aside, solid video !
It's my first jump into anamorphic lenses so I pretty much just spit out everything I know about it (and it's not much) I only shared what I experienced so far and yes there's a lot of missing things that I could go on researching for ages hence why I linked up Tito's channel (anamorphic on a budget) in the pinned comment. Essentially, it's just a first impression video of someone who just got their first anamorphic lens. Maybe in the future I will have enough knowledge to cover the technicality of it. I enjoy the lens a lot and ready to keep going down the anamorphic rabbit hole lol
i’ve been considering saving up money to buy a camera, it would take me a while but now that i’m trying to start a film class in my local community college i want to have my own camera and lenses to use so i can go out after school and enjoy filming what i want.
Fx30 is notoriously noisy outside the base ISO so yeah it was tough to get a clean image. If you have your secrets with uncontrolled night lighting, feel free to share them.
Looks really nice, as does all of your stuff. A question. I both some of your LUTs, the SLOG pack, and Sunset Drive LUT. Because of the looks in your videos. It would be nice to see a video on how you use these LUTs. The Sunset Drive LUT I can't really figure out. It doesn't work after your Slog3 correction LUT. And on its own, its lacking contrast, and the skin tone looks really weird to me. Even though falling nicely on the skin tone line indicator in Resolve. I'm using FX30 Cine EI, White balanced with a white balance card in the camera. Resolves show good white balance when looking at white and blacks. Not complaining. Just want to learn. Cheers DrHans
It’s on the works!! The slog3 conversion should be as easy as applying the film lut and adding green tint +2 (should be 27 on offset can work too on resolve) As for the sunset drive, once you have the converted slog3 footage, you can tweak the white balance to cooler or warmer depending on the scene. If you used a grey card, it should look better on cooler adjustments. I typically use it on 40-60% gain on the opacity node itself. Kinda like having the lut on 40-60% strength. That should work! If not, you can join the discord group and send a sample footage to download. I’ll see what I can do! Again, the video is on the works it should be up hopefully next week. Any other questions feel free to ask :)
That's because it's just a LUT. It's not taking into account your time of day, footage colour, WB. It's just colours. LUT's can be destructive if you don't know how to grade. Learn to grade your footage from scratch first using colour wheels, tints, temperature, WB etc
The FX30 was set on 5600K and you can see the warm color cast of the Sirui 24mm. It's about 4900k on a 5600k light. It's similar color cast to the 7artisans 35mm cine lens and adds to the overall "filmic" look. It's an easy fix in camera or in post if you want a true white balance.

Thanks goes to Kofi Yaboah for pointing me to your channel. I've actually seen a couple of your videos on the FX30 while I was researching it before buying my own FX30. This was an excellent video. And I have subscribed.
Amazing!! Glad it popped up and hopefully helped with the buying decision!! Any questions at all with the fx30, feel free to ask 🙌🏽
The music hits every time.
oh this is really well done. love it. i wanted to make something like this but you knocked it out of the park. you got a new subscriber just based on this video.
Thank you so much! Welcome to the channel :)
Loved this video ! Good work friend. Subscribed and can’t wait to see more!
Thank you Jake! there will be more for sure :)
Hey! Loved the video!! I wanted to ask, what's the name of the font you use throughout with the yellow colour. I LOVE IT. Thanks (:
Thank you! everyone seems to love it too! It's NT Wagner :)
Wow I LOVED LOVED this, I subbed
Your quality is awesome, bro!
Thanks, Justin! 🙏🏽
Someone sent me this vid to watch, and it's so bizarre to see you roll into Mariposa Market in the middle of it, lol. Footage looks great!
Thanks! Gotta love Mariposa. Are you from the area?!
My in-laws live there, so I often take off with my camera and explore. Might see you around town one day!
Love the look of the Sirui lens!!
It’s so cool!!!
This is so cool. Would this type of lens work better on a full frame camera?
Potentially if you need more light in! But both s35 and FF would work almost equally as good for anamorphic :)
Ufff… could be the right choice for next project. Or maybe even an immersive walking video
I've been thinking about those walking videos lol sounds a lot of fun!!
being eyeing this lens for some time! Def a unique look!
Right?! Haven’t been this excited about a lens before !
the aspect ratio works really well on my wide screen monitor. Definitely am interested in getting both the sirui and the fx30.
I need to get me one of those wide screen monitors!! yeah it's a beast of a combo
There's really a nice warm tone to it
yup!! nice and warm
The intro was 🔥Keep it up!
thank you!!
Was that music yours.. If not didn't u got copyrighted? Wow it was mind blowing and nostalgic 😍
Licensed through musicbed :) isn’t it so lovely?!
@@VictorLaforteza yep♥️🔥😍
i’ve been considering saving up money to buy a camera, it would take me a while but now that i’m trying to start a film class in my local community college i want to have my own camera and lenses to use so i can go out after school and enjoy filming what i want.
It’ll definitely last you a long time too once you invest into a good platform! Cheaper lenses and more selection outside of Sony
damn i cried so hard through the intro its so beautiful
awww thank you!
Great video!, I was wondering, can this lens be used with the sony zv-e10?
Yes it can be :)
What a perfect intro! 🥹
Glad you like it!
f2.8 is a challenge? in low light for you?
Fx30 is notoriously noisy outside the base ISO so yeah it was tough to get a clean image. If you have your secrets with uncontrolled night lighting, feel free to share them.
Beautiful shots!
GREAT track! Sold the whole thing!
I love the result! I wish I could achieve something similar but on a student budget !
let's hope they make more budget options!!!
The typeface you are using fits perfectly! Which one is it?
NT wagner :)
The slog3 conversion should be as easy as applying the film lut and adding green tint +2 (should be 27 on offset can work too on resolve)
As for the sunset drive, once you have the converted slog3 footage, you can tweak the white balance to cooler or warmer depending on the scene.
Learn to grade your footage from scratch first using colour wheels, tints, temperature, WB etc
looks amazing! huge fan of anamorphic lenses they have a time and a place for sure. Are you overexposing slog 3 by 2 stops on the meter?
Thank you dude! Nah, I'm only shooting 0 to +1. Or if I shoot on CINE EI mode I will keep it mostly at 400EI at 800 base
the rate that youre producing content at is amazing... keep it up brother
I appreciate that! Thank you brother 🙌🏽
this is beautiful
Thank you 🙏🏽🙏🏽
I love your footage and grading
wow looks dreamy. how do you focus on subject coming towards you or just moving????
Tried to do both haha! Focus racking while moving
@@VictorLaforteza thank you for your replies great content
WOW, great post-production video and great content! Happy to subscribe~ Happy New Year! 新年快乐!
新年快乐! 谢谢你 🙏🏼
i don't like any of the handheld shots but the rest is STUNNING!
That was a beautiful intro!
