Dieseling a .22 Gamo Air Rifle...More Power?

- Saw this and wanted to try. Completely impressed with the result, however I'd like to try it again and shoot targets at 50meters to test if there's a change in trajectory and accuracy.
Steel Target at this test was 22meters.

You will get more consistent results if you put the oil in the skirt of the pellet instead of the chamber. I have found that a tiny dab of vaseline works best, as it stays in the pellet. I have done this with both .177 and .22 pellet rifles and have had the result of them making a sonic crack like a .22 long rifle cartridge. My chronograph shows that I am getting a 200 to 300 fps boost in velocity.
I'm gonna try that with the older rifles
Use chest rub. Fill the cup of the pellet to level. The salve stays in place and offers consistent results. Glue a . 177 bb into the hollow point recess of a .22 Crosman hollow point. This combination punches through satellite dishes at 50 feet. The salve allows me to keep a dieseled pellet in my springer air rifle, uncocked and ready to be presented as a door prize indefinitely. At 7 yards it is certainly lethal.
This is dangerous info you shared......and I like it
Great indepth video Vince thankyou. Subscribed....love from the UK.
Thank you.
We dieseled air rifles in the 1970s. Makes a significant difference.
Filling the back of the pellet with petroleum jelly works the best for me and I've never had a problem.
Will try that
I tried the vaseline salve putting a small amount of that in the skirt of the pellet. I tried it in a Diana Eleven cal.177 and in a single shot handgun Gamo P900 (not the nitro piston version). The same pellet in the P900 was not able to pierce a plastic bottle at 6 meters (6 yards circa) but the same pellet dieseled with a vaseline salve pierced the plastic bottle at the same distance and I did see smoke from the muzzle and it smelled like a burnt candle. The power in more is significant: I was wondering if it is like to shoot an hypothetical firearm in .177 caliber like many users say that in a .22 air rifle they compare the sonic crack with the sonic crack of a .22 cartridge.
I saw someone fill up the tin of pellets with the oil of choice some then shake them around. Then the residual oil in the cup was enough for great results. Looks like a cool set up you got there. Thanks for the vid
Pleasure. That could be an option I'd try on an older pellet gun. Don't wanna wreck the new toys. Thanks for the tip
Fill the caps at the back with Vicks VapoRub. Speed went from 640 to 990 ft/s. Camo 5.5 .22
Nice vid. I got I think the same rifle but is called the swarm maxim elite in UK (noticed with gamo the same model name can vary slightly in different countries). You went from around 13 ft lbs to over 31 ft lbs!
Thanks. Yeah, Was trying to research and theres a few variations. Prob won't be doing this test again because it's not feasible to sight a rifle in or get on target with only 3-4 dieseled shots. Was a good experiment tho. Will prob do it with my cheaper .177 rifles that I'm not attached to
Cool, I'm going to try in my pellet gun
You make two mistakes: 1. feeding the gun from it's magazine (you should try putting pellets one by one, directly into the breech - it is possible with all Swarm Gamos); 2. a drop of diesel should be applied to the skirt (rear part) of the pellet, not towards the piston.
You're right
Why are people soooo paranoid about seals blowing? Never seen it happen from dieseling but someone said. But if they did blow what would be the big deal? They aren't hard or expensive to change.
😉👍
Is there actually any rifle meant to handle those stresses or any seals that are more durable?
Would t be able to answer the question. However, you get rifles rated up to 1000fps and not sure if they change the seals when they insert the stronger action/spring/piston. Manufacturers dis t spend $$$$$ designing a gun for us peasants to modify and think we know more lol!! I don’t do this test often tho.
lol @ all these people "you're doing it wrong waaaa" ... The chronograph just proved he's doing it 'right' if there's a right way to do something you're not supposed to do lol. It shot way faster than without dieseling so the point was proven. Informative video 👍
He didn't get consistent results. If you fill the skirt of the pellet with vaporub it will give much more consistent results. You're also much more likely to damage the piston pouring in there.
You put the oil in the pellet skirt, not the air chamber.
Как винтовка называется?
300 fps is alot!
I would say do all the testing with this one since you might already have ruined the piston seal by putting the wrong oil in it
[In fact gamo even says to not put ANY oil including silicone oil in the compression chamber in some of they manuals]
Def wasn't expecting 300fps difference. Don't know when someone would need to diesel their rifle as it's not practical nor sustainable. And you're probably right, will need a new seal at some point. eeeek.
@@firenmeat6902 fun and giggles !
I might try on a detuned rifle soon or later haha
Try the silicone grease. It works better.
Oh stop, you're tempting me
Time for some new airgun videos 👍😉
Yup, Gimme some ideas and I'll make them. You can some you wanna share?
Should be at least 670 with those, prob a nick in seal
It's pretty new. Also considering replacing with a piston.
Poring the oil in the pressure pipe? 😂😂🤣🤣😂😂 Are you feeling alright? 😎
Not that day, lol!!!
That will destroy the seal and damage the piston. It's a bad move.
Too late....maybe a good excuse to upgrade...nothing wrong with a new rifle hey?
@@firenmeat6902 Just buy one that already shoots 1300 fps and no need to diesel.
Not necessarily I've known ppl do it regularly for several years with no problems at all. Technically speaking those moving parts do need to be lubed for optimum performance. Having said that I'm sure it will damage the seals on some rifles & probbly wouldn't recommend someone to do it with a brand new £4-500 top of range Weirrauch.
@@tabvalentino That's what they advertise but then it's like 350fps less than advertised
@@tabvalentinowhere.?
Its illegal in UK
This gamo with Dieseling is almost letal pellet rifle wow!! But u did it wrong the best way to do this is pellet by pellet a single oil drop in the pellet no in the barrel.. I only dieseling my hatsan 30 cal when I'm going hunting I put drop 💧 oil in the pellet at 15 yardas I kill medium dear with dieseling pellet but I do one by one no more than 4 shots
Thanks. Won't be doing it again as I feel accuracy at 500 vs 650fps may differ. Do you find that?
Not dieseling it properly. Not supposed to be poured down the tube. Put a drop of oil or gun lube in the back end of pellet then put it in the tube, when the pressure hits the back of the pellet with oil it makes it combust and adds way more power. You got it all wrong.
Thanks. Wrong or not, there was results, however will try it that way and see if there’s a difference.
@@OPPSINTL should make huge difference and more of a crack sound when shot 👌
You are correct, he did it wrong like MANY others do.
For some reason they don't get that all action in ALL shooting weapons happen BEHIND the projectile. 😂
Fill the back of the pellet with petroleum jelly. It stays in and works the best by far.
@@devon6866 Yup, gonna try that
Your supposed to put it in the ass of each pellet not the piston.. Iv never seen that at all.. And WD 40 or 3 in1 works best
3 in 1 would be easier to apply. Will try on the older rifles
Try break fluid, it's more combustible. Baring in mind that fuel heat and oxygen are the three elements for a fire 🔥 better the fuel the bigger the fire
Whoa!!! You're tempting me with a good time now
If you want to rust your barrel then go for it. Break fluid = corrosive
@@triplex706 I recall people would do a revenge/payback by throwing brake fluid on people car. Wrecks the paint
Did that in my youth....might do it again. Someone pissing me off...not gonna say who lol!!
Here's what I've found. If you want to deisil a .22 cal rifle, the Chinese break barrels are king. Super cheap and surprisingly accurate.
Cheap and replaceable.
Dieseling can and will destroy your rifles... don't do this...matter of fact Dieseling will cancel out your warranty... If you diesel even one time, you will have to send it in for Maintenance, a professional will be able to tell you have Dieseled your break barrel air rifle...the damage done by Dieseling may not be apparent at first, but the seals Canon Will form micro cracks that will cause them to fail....at this point it would probably be cheaper just to buy a new break barrel air rifle....
Eso se supone que no se haga porque daña el pistón y los sellos. Es la primera persona que veo recomendando algo así
You will eventually ruin that air rifle !
True, however only did this one test on it. Figured, if I want a more powerful pellet gun, will buy one.
Junk rifle, junk pellets, stupid idea.
What would your educated suggestion be other than slamming an idea?
