    I cleaned my barrel of my Gen2 and forgot to clean the grim from the breech face because the 10 shot mag plastic was covering it. I shot the next JSB 18gr. pellet into the snow, and it went off like a 22 long rifle powder burner. Less than 500 shots later, it lost over 130 fps and the piston seal was cooked. I found the pellet in the spring time, (I collect them when the snow melts., and it had a perfectly blown up skirt to .300", (2mm bigger than the barrel, the ID of the plastic silencer kept the skirt from blowing apart.)
    It ruined the gun. I could not get parts from Gamo, so I bought another gun. I will never let that happen again. You go ahead. But there is no good reason to do it.

    I have found in dieseling these pellets that you have to make sure that the skirt of appellate is the same diameter every time when you're adding any oils 4D cycling then how long you wait before you pull the trigger cuz sometimes the oil wants the roll-out of the pellet at the back-end some so if you're not timing exactly when you shoot the pellet Soca shooting the pellet at the same time every time and the skirt has to be the same diameter every time and even then you'll have a slight variance but it's more persistent I haven't seen this gentleman size the skirts of any of the pellets

    When you are talking about dieseling it is like an engine where you lose power when your fuel to air ratio gets out of balance and the only way to be sure of consistently getting the same amount of oil with a break barrel is to keep the barrel pointing down when you close it. I watched an interesting one that used petroleum jelly which is easier to be consistent. Really liked your video.

      @charlesheald1782 Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. And thank you for the comment!

  • @hendrickotto103
    @hendrickotto103 Год назад +2

    Very interesting experiment.
    Inconsistency of oil volume used is in-built by closing the barrel, especially when you close it from inclinated / vertical to horizontal. There is reason to believe that not all shots have the same amount of oil in the pellet skirt.. Viscocity of oil is a factor but spillage will occur. Dripping oil is never the same volume. . Some oil will flow into the breech area. Some oil residue may remain after the shot, resulting in different volume being burned in the next shot. Also some oil of the previous shot may not be fully burned and build up in the skirt. And there may be build-up of oil between the breech seal and the transfer port. This might be the cause of your screamer shots.
    You might minimize these differences by fixing the gun in a clamp iwith the barrel in the vertical position and cock it by moving the rest of the rifle. Not an easy job for the chrono and you need a pellet stop in the ground.
    Full clean up of the breech and TP between shots is also in order.
    Your method is WAY safer than put oil into the compression chamber, which is bound to burn up the piston seal very quickly and blow the spring up. But even your method will break the main spring soon. Wrecking the gun and your friendship at once is COOL!

    I take a little scoop of vasoline put it in a little bowl and add 10-15 drops of 3in1 then stir it up so you still have that semi thick vasoline and you can just take a Q-tip or point of a knife and take a dab and put it in the pellet cup on the backend, (Same place you put the oil) This is a great mixture for getting shots that break the sound barrier and you don't have to worry about it running out all over because the vasoline is like thick jelly, I usually put a dab in every other pellet in the Gamo 10 RD mag and the difference in speed is crazy also penetration and FPE!!! Caution as doing this to much can destroy rubber seals/rings so do it at your own peril.

      @@HuntShootLive Mix the 3-1 with petroleum jelly so that the oil doesn't drip out the skirt of the pellet. What's happening is that when you close your barrel, some of the oil leaks out... this variation of fps will not be consistent. Mix a thick batch of the two components and use a very fine syringe 💉 to carefully fill the skirt of the pellet, use razor blade to remove the excess by simply sliding the blade like a putty knife to prevent from etching the skirt. • @HuntShootLive
      @HuntShootLive  Год назад +2

      @John Hoag That would definitely be worth trying. I believe the inconsistency is more related to the inability to keep the liquid in the back of the pellet. The second you level the rifle, the liquid begins to drain out. Several have commented that petroleum jelly or vapor rub works well. I plan to try those in a future video. Anything is worth testing though. You don’t know if you don’t try. Thank you for watching and for the comment!

    The ultimate platform would be: Pre-deisled pellet (made by a savy manufacturer) one that has an oil/petroleum jelly mixture, protected and held in place by a micro film of wax. Then, make the air rifle so it can withstand the pressure. I would like to see 1600 fps with a .22 caliber pellet at 16.5 grams. Put this on a platform with a 12 round magazine, and you got the best selling break barrel/ pellet package on the market. (Yes, pre-deisled pellets. The wax could be a dirivitive of bow wax. Just enough to hold the oil/gel in place.) Charge .50 cents apiece for the pellet. High end price/ high end performance. Your thoughts 🤔🎯

    • @HuntShootLive
      @HuntShootLive  19 дней назад

      @scottwalmer9248 The reason the don’t beef up the barrel is so it can maintain the qualification of not being a “firearm”. I can’t recall the exact wording but that rule is basically what keeps them as they are durability wise. The premade pellet idea isn’t bad at all but 50 cents a pellet would be a tough sell. You can buy 22lr for 6 cents per round.

  • @kenfan5666
    @kenfan5666 Год назад +1

    I think that even the dropper doesn't have a consistent result because the volume is of the drop of 3-in-1 is not consistent, or the speed of the piston in combination with the volume of the drop of 3-in-1 is not consistent. Assuming that there is a spread of lowest average speed to highest average speed of the non dieseled pellets of around 18 fps, and the average lowest speed gain to the average of the highest speed gain, you're gaining multiples of initial speed of nearly 243 fps to 266 fps. with a minimum average gain of 60 fps. That's pretty good! Maybe my math is wrong. I added all the dieseled speeds and took the average, by dividing by 10 shots. Then I divided by 18. Basically, by dieseling the pellet, if you can stay on target accurately, you can achieve .22 long rifle speeds with a .22 pellet. It kind of defeats the purpose of a suppressed pellet gun, but if your purpose is to achieve more fpe for better stopping power or more penetration and expansion for humanely harvesting a medium sized game animal, you achieved your goal.
    Anyway, Thanks again for the interesting video.
    Stay Safe, Be Well, God Bless.

    • @HuntShootLive
      @HuntShootLive  Год назад +1

      @Ken Fan It is worth noting that I am used to working on loads for long range rifles and need deviation in or very near single digits for 1000 yard shots. I would have to guess the actual spread of the “group” at 100 yards or less with a dieseled pellet wouldn’t be terrible. The inches don’t have time to add up at that short of a distance.

    • @kenfan5666
      @kenfan5666 Год назад

      @@HuntShootLive I generally pest and hunt at short distances, usually within 50 yards. I'll bait, trap, or hunt larger game from a perch or blind, but have rarely stalked, and have never taken a shot past 100 yards.
      I hope you will continue to post hunting videos and go more in depth with your preparation. I have really enjoyed watching. Especially your Father/Daughter first buck video.
      I watch a lot more of the pellet hunting videos recently because my son is getting into shooting and hunting at age 10 and it's a good father/son activity that I don't have to wait for a season to do. It's always open season on rats.
      Dieseled pellets probably have their place, but I think it will make more sense to me to just stick to a lighter pellet for faster speed and not risk damaging the pellet gun barrel and moderator, or jeopardizing the shot placement with an unstable flight path. When I first started pellet hunting as a kid my buddies either had a 1377 crosman or a Daisy 880. I didn't have a pellet gun and I don't remember if there were even different weighted pellets.
      Today we have so many different pellet types and grain weights that I can afford to keep some pellet guns (my Gamo rifles in .22) specifically for short or long range hunting, and some (my .177 Gamo Varmint, Crosman 1377s, and Benjamin Trail NP pistols) specifically for pesting.
      Your videos have been great in terms of practical knowledge and shot placement. And I especially appreciate the fact that you emphasize humane harvesting and following the laws and regulations.
      Most importantly, you present hunting with your daughter as a rite of passage and something positive and wholesome. I wish you all the best, and hope to see more of these types of videos.

I though would prefer to just shoot it with a pellet. Don’t ever shoot it without a pellet, the quick empty discharge could damage some kind of seal . If it could safely be decocked why not . Don’t think it mentions that in the manual I would do some research first

      The high compression starts the combustion process with anything that will light under high compression,---just like a diesel engine with no spark plug. Airgunners should be more interested in how accurate your rifle is, not how much you can wreck it. If this sounds negative, it's because you're going to get people that really can't afford to wreck the air rifles and they're going to do so, because they're going to think it looks cool because you did it.

      @@HuntShootLive Good day, I am a new member, first, to succeed in a group shot, stay below the speed of sound (1100 fps) ideally 975/1000 feet seconds to avoid vibration when approaching the sound barrier, and never exceed it if you want to remain stable...2nd, used the heaviest grain possible but boosting it with vapo rub or other, (which does not leak) used the exact quantity at all times of your fuel in a very precise way, to remain below the speed of sound and maintain your stability...important...if you use the heaviest pellet possible combined with your vape rub or other, your stopping power will be at maximum capacity (over 55/60 feet/ pound) if your pellet is heavy enough and it loses its precision, do you understand? then, by filtering your pellets, make sure that there are no defects on the pellet and in particular on the skirt, and clean them (remove any lead or other impurities) and dry them properly before applying the fuel ( vapo rub or other.) ballistics is an exact science (I have been reloading ammunition for 40 years). The idea for my advice is to get as close as possible to the sound barrier (without crossing it) with the heaviest projectile possible to increase the stopping power while maintaining good precision for hunting. a single pellet with this recipe should be enough to kill your animal the first time (lethal) without making it suffer unnecessarily... let me know for your future results Have a nice day.

    Dieseling is forced combustion through quick compression. If theres a small amount of pentrol or alcohol substance in between the piston and the pellet, the compression from the piston (if stong enough) causes ignition and therefore more outward propelling of the pellet. You end up seeing and smelling smoke sooo..why would you think its anything else?

      @Micheal313 I am well aware now. This was my first time dieseling anything and had basically zero investigation into it. Of course it will makes the pellet go faster. But you have no control over fps so you won't have any accuracy or repeatability. I also damaged the piston seal of one of these gun by dieseling accidentally, and you can't get parts from Gamo. Have to go through a licensed firearms dealer, (and it is legally a firearm with dieseling as it is using a burning propellant), and good luck finding one that will order your parts. I ended up just buying a second gun. There is no accuracy and it can hurt your gun.
    There is no good reason to do this. None.

    A great example of the dieseling concept !
    However, by using the
    3 and 1 product will not give you a consistent result, due to when you are closing the breach, and becoming horizontal, you are losing an inconsistent amount of oil from each shot fired !
    There by, your result is varying some.
    A far more consistent result will come from utilizing a level amount of
    "Vaseline" petroleum jelly in the skirt of the pellet, giving you a consistent level in each round, even though you have turned each shot to be horizontal in order to fire each round, which will give you a much better evaluation of the dieseling concept !
    ( of course, this process is NOT recommended by ANY airgun manufacturer ) !
    You are assuming ALL risks related to this procedure to yourself, and to the gun you are experimenting with ) !
    And may cause catastrophic failure to the gun, or potential physical injury to yourself as a result of !!!

    No two drops of oil are the same = therefore - the minute fluctuations of volume of oil will affect the speed. The fact is dieseling works. Many videos have proven this fact. Even bullets fluctuate in velocity from one round to the next. A drop of oil will not blow up your rifle, it is too small to do that and it does not rate in the category of gun powder.

    Mix the 3-1 with petroleum jelly so that the oil doesn't drip out the skirt of the pellet. Surely your FPS will be easy more consistent. You're welcome 😊

Click on the icon next to my comment, a photo of a Glock pistol appears, enter my channel and see my tests. Also with the patent the thread i thought of making 2 year ago, which worked! Putting a bigger gas-ram 180bar, you don't need to use deseling. What i pay attention to and maintain every 150 shots is to grease the chamber with the appropriate grease, and this is because the gas-ram 180bar i have put in it hits with a lot of force. After all, you said 1832fps, i thing you are exaggerating🤔 otherwise make a video, tell us the Modification you have made and show us in action what you say.
