Michael is a genius that worker with geniuses to create masterpieces. TDCAU is such a powerful song with incredible and powerful statements. True work of a master and his voice was so magical and raging with anger and emotions❤️❤️❤️❤️ everything there is to love🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
The most annoying thing is not having the STEMs to the beat! I find it difficult to mix vocals with a beat as stereo track because dudes that brings in beats aren't properly mixed as the kick may be too loud, the synth parts too wide. I gotta have the kick, snare, Synths, bass, vocals all separated for a proper balanced mixed.
I did a remake of "Flashlight" with George Clinton @ Sly stones house. I was engineering for Sly and was asked to re-do Flashlight with George. Yeah I know nerves. Just me and George. Will never forget.
When mixing an instrumental without a vocal it's hard to know how loud to have the melodic instruments. When there's a vocal it's easier to set the melodic instruments relative to the vocals. When it's just drums and melodic instruments, sometimes you have the melodic instruments louder than you would if the vocals were there. Same goes for the hi hat.
Same when there is no non harmonic percussive elements for example if the only thing keeping the rhythm ims the acoustic, turn it up too much and it cuts into the vocal and other instruments and turn it down too much and there is no more rythmn backbone.
That's why you need the STEMs of everything. Depends on the mix really. If Lesly sent you a 2 Track beat you can mix vocals into it because he knows how to mix a beat and leave room for Vocals. It’s like mixing/mastering.
@@JimijaymesProductions it depends which way the track will go, more funky/rhythmic or more harmonic. Need well carefull balance. That defines sub genres

did you watch the fucking video? Because the man literally said he was working with Dallas Austin and Michael requested the Dallas bring the guy in who did all of the beats… That was Lesley. And he worked on all of the Dallas Austin mixes, the main Dallas Austin mix which was used as the radio and single version of the song which is what most people are most familiar with👍🏻👍🏻 The album version was a different mix that featured explicit lyrics that they had to take out when it went to radio

MJ !!!
I was one of Mick Guzauski’s mix assistants on Thriller 20th Anniversary. We worked on the song “For all time” - I also went to FS
I love that song For all time!
So fortunate you are to have worked on an MJ project.
Hey guys! We hope you enjoyed this video - What is the most challenging part of mixing for you?
Probably restraining myself by not putting 500 plugins on each track.

Most challenging is which instrument on what level & which effect is to insert in each instrument.
Thank you for sharing, beautiful and inspiring.
