Its Kinda funny if you think about it but.... Fullsail students spend a ton of money to be in those classes, and I just literally sat thru an entire course for free. I was a Fullsail student, it was cool, but one thing they don't teach you is the hustle of this music industry, and that for an engineer is key.
Mack Sessions Cardell Mack brilliant and I agree
Cardell Mack Aka Mack Sessions nobody can teach you how to hustle bro lol it’s either you have IT or you don’t.
@@flatbushmassive2043 Bro .. you are right. I was thinking the same thing .. the hustle, the grind .. you can't teach that. Either you have it or you don't!
@@flatbushmassive2043 Bullshit go hungry..I mean real hungry..A hustler is born..
Cardell Mack Aka Mack Sessions so true!
This video was really insightful, and also very entertaining! Props to you guys, and props to Leslie for being so easy going and passing a lot information!
Yea, he really revealed alot
Awesome thank you for posting!
great video great tips, and a great insight into the thought process of a modern mix engineer. work smart not hard, and let the artist be in control!
Absolutely Fantastic in every way! a must watch for engineers!
Leslie is the best Migo.
Half of this video is him answering questions that he already answered lol 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
Best interview ever. This guy L. Brathwaithe is great!
steelwiz not really, there were a lotta basic questions

Respect the migos man. This guy is a genius thanks for the knowledge
This is a great video, it was good to get some insight and tips from a vet and he was very understandable and not going over your head in tech terms.

Ive always wanted to go to school at FullSail. Hopefully one day I get the chance.
This guy is awesome!
Very informative..
🔥🔥🔥
Fantastic mixer and presenter.
i like this guy...
Full Sail University, this is a great video. I'm really enjoying this and more videos like this. I'm looking forward to more. Can you guys please run the music from the computer and not thru a room mic? It sounds like the music is being ran thru a microphone and not the computer. It's causing a little delay and feedback to come thru the audio. It makes a little harder to listen being that audio engineering depends on clarity.
We'll be sure to let our teams know. Thanks Peirre 🙂
Full Sail University
pierre leufray jr I like to be your friend and a Colleague
Full sail should know this 😱🤦♂️
Super Leslie
No one ever thought to ask about the settings on his vocal mix buss smh
16:47 he talks about his chain and how he sets up each plugin here.
FrijolitoBeans he talks about his chain on a track to track basis but if you notice vocals arr being routed to a vocal bus or sum where they are being processed as well.
Im 45min in and was wondering the same thing lol. still a good watch but good to know i wasnt the only one that peepd that.
The busses look like they only have two plugins on them.
Dela Ratchet yea I sure as hell would like to kno smh
R.I.H T.O, and Les The Man, good one BOSS ☝️❤👊.
This is actually amazing.
Thanks for watching!
This guy Leslie will be great.
cool guy
HHAHAHAH the clowning on the migos had me DYING
now this is a Uni👏
We try 💁
the dude in the corner was holding his hand up the whole video lol
True Sto!!!!
I'll have to check that! Did he do the other arm prop up thingy. 🤣
It's alright. I think they never even saw him with his hands raised. The lighting on that side is kinda dark. :)
Lmao
poor guy behind roxanne had his hand up for like 30 mins
brian philips 😂😂😂
I noticed and laugh anytime camera is on him
HAHHAAHhAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAJjJHHJjajahahahHhahshshajajhahshahahgqhshqhshs
It's alright. I think they never even saw him with his hands raised. The lighting on that side is kinda dark. :)
These students are all asking the same questions, "So how do you mix the vocal, was it like that when you got it?" Lol.
Well recording sessions is one of the first few mixing classes these students have had
Got fucking damn. None of those people in that room are going anywhere. Aint no one know what the fuck to ask such a legend
Lesli please listen to. My Sound cloud to my bwats
7:33 I thought he asked himself a question cause they sound so much alike
I wish I could’ve caught this live but is it possible to get a list of plugins that he used on the track
bro wanted Akon to sound terrible so badly lol
Fr lmaooo
I felt that in my heart about it being too low, I always have to deal with an artist saying that lmao...
how do i know how loud to have my sub with my monitors?
Ken Corlew seems like he's frieeeeddddd
#awesomeness =)
Hey Leslie, is it possible to get a drum kick that sounds little light in a two tracks beat sound heavier during a mix? And thanks, Uncle C.
Great info by the way i subb'd
Leslie B U.S.V.I massive
Ha! Sticks!!!
What about the automations he had?
s/o to that kid who held up his hand for half the class
I want to hear u mix from the dry vocals
Litterly no videos on yt about that, other than trash ass rappers or Tory lanez
can we just get the coordinates and explain the eq theory because on the radio no matter who mixed what every track has a pretty standardized requiem
I wish he would start from scratch from a blank session
I have a question. I use to master the beat with the vocal, all in one project, since the beginning. Is it wrong? Should I master the beat, then add the vocal, then master again?
Brunno Lazzarotto yes
There doesn't need to be a Best Migo just let them be great as the best Migos (squaaaaad)!
7:42 in left bottom corner (ICE CUBE) hahahaha
Can you enable subtitles? Thanks
first time watching ....... he's doing a great job cuz I am a professional at this the only difference is I use Logic Pro x
When the :Strokes: first dropped their sound was completely different than anything on the radio. Very tin can like. Learn the science behind it but like @Dave Rivera says "break the rules"
please can someone tell me how to denoise a vocal on fl studio
Ekemini Inyang waves NS1
this shit was funny af
Does someone know the plugins order for mixing?
For vocals, he said:
Tune, de-easer (4273), compressor (light), EQ (SSL)
What uzi album he talking about
What's on the mix buss?
Full sail is boomin
Wordd. I'm so ready to go next year
I've got a question please; Pro Tools is seen as the industry standards, I should believe the stock pugins are great and industry standards too. Now while I use stock plugins to mix, do you think there is something I'm missing out on by not using 3rd party VSTs? The assumptions here is that I know how to use my plugins to achieve what I desire in a mix, does not using some of these popular plugins like the Waves bundles have me miss out on some extra great sound? What's your take on ignoring stock plugins for the 3rd party VSTs?
3rd party plugins usually have their own unique sound to them eg. SSL board by Waves or UAD. You can get away with using JUST the stock plugins but its always worth having more just in case
Most basic plugins run at around 16 bits, some 3rd party plugins like waves (which have the ssl plugins) run at 16 to 32 bits, if u max out your ram they can run at higher bits which means higher quality in your mix.. hope this helps u out.
take off the hardest 1
My guy was throwing shade at the migos and uzi the whole sesh 🤣🤣🤣 I fw it though
The ginger at 29:00 "i didnt sign up for this shit" xD
lmao
14:05 Shadowpuppet photobomb 👌
HOMIE SHITTIN ON MIGOS HARD
Leslie is the like the yoda of mixing.
title says live mix session..did i miss something. or was this supposed to be question and answer session. i never seen anyone mix anything
Agreed. No mixing just talking. Waste of Time!
Kinda thought the same thing, but it’s cool hearing his experiences. I think he only moved the master fader.
@@eddieseals1076 live mix sessions can never be a waste of time. You always get to know something from the mind of a different artist. :)
That beat was crazy, felt like it was everywhere, till the lyrics came in, made it sound dope tho!
Was hoping to see a more vocal processing
This is an amazing time we're living in. This information is pretty much showing the world how to put together an RnB or hip-hop track. Id like to see how one could put together a live band situation with bassists pianos vocals and drummers could be recorded.
29:00 | Skkkrrr!! Quavo!!! Migo!! ☹️💪
30:32...let them be themselves! Real talk. this is for both sides.
17:19 need to watch this when I’m back in the studio
Some great advice to use for later!
leslie your a genius i now wanna be like you after hearing all that goood stuff.. where mixing is usually something you consort as a big job but cuzzo you brought that down to the devils note...
So compression first and then EQ...I'd like to think that doing the opposite is just as fine...what y'all think?
Dre Mano I’ve been told that EQing comes before compressing and yes, it sounds perfectly fine to me as well.
I guess it’s just a matter of taste 😅
But logically I would first cut and raise before compressing something that has “dirt” in it...
Dre Mano oh of course! I can agree with you on that because then you have a much cleaner signal
All these questions they’re asking will be answered with more experience. Then you’ll get to a point where you trust your ears, monitors, headphones, plugins, EQ and find out how sounds hit in the same frequencies.
Preach!!
A lot of people don’t realize that heavy autotune artists use a distinct type of voice that enhances the autotune effect. You gotta do the vocal work to get the vocal work
Man this was so hard to sit through I just wanted to see what and how he was using plug one but I couldn’t get through the 30min intro 😩😩
how do yu get into this university
TOP SHELF CONTRABAND Baker money
he like roxanne!
Sticks !! Lmao
YOU'RE TOTALLY A MIRROR OF ME…
Bunker 15 here
Ken Corlew lol my homie
if the producer loss the hardrive for the track outs or what ever shouldint they be asked to remake the beat, i had plenty of ppl ask me to remake the beat of other ppls beats until i realized these artist didnt buy the beat
I could never remake my own beats since the sound design and mixing decisions are essential to creation. The original is always best which is why 2 tracks are used in hip hop.
