I just bought the game as it seems it's finally making progress. Skipped the tutorial because "I know games, i've played Star Lancer" then realised the error of my ways. Thank you for this video it was a fantastic help.
Brand new player here gna be trying to get underway in SC. This guide seems really complete so no doubt will be the one i use to kearn the ropes. Thanks LG
Amazing content, LG! Ive been here like 7 years and still learned things from this re intro to Star Citizen. Totally did NOT KNOW that you could turn off the "slow mode when gear is down", nor was I aware you could set waypoints/GPS in on foot minimap. Excellent random tips.
Nicely Done! I'd add that pressing "I" after landing should be a habit as sometimes (or more frequently) when you leave the ship, it won't stay put if the engines are still on. Inventory differences (local vs medical or other) can change, so be a little cautious. I fly a Mustang Alpha often and when I take damage it is 90% losing the right (starboard) wing. Methinks something is afoot.
As always, a very complete tutorial and one I will be happy to pass on to new friends I am getting interested in the game so I dont have to spend a ton of time training! Thanks for all your efforts, much appreciated for sure!

Another video that definitely needs to be shared, especially now that the game is getting a lot more widespread/mainstream coverage. Also a quick note: you stated at 9:18 in that you can access local inventory by pressing I, which will be changed rather soon if I'm not mistaken
Just remembered that the bit around how to get to a (and soon your) hangar and how ASOP terminals will function will also change rather soon. Hopefully you still have your project (and not just the export) so you can edit those in
Honestly half the reason it took so long was I had to really sit down with master modes for a couple of days. I actually recorded all the footage twice because when I sat down to edit the first lot I just thought “I can do this better now”.
We few, we lucky few, who have been beckoned by burning suns and mysterious planets to venture out into the cosmos, approach with timid trepidation at the voice of our guide, as he calls to us: "Let's go, brother!"
This guide was quite helpful. Thanks. It's refreshing to find, after the past couple of days. After years of learning about SC, watching a ton of clips like yours, I finally decided to take the plunge and bought the game two days ago. The prices have put me off TBH. Don't get me wrong, I can easily afford the $1k+ package. They say a fool and his money are soon parted. I'm no fool. Value for the money I spend is my priority. This is why I decided to buy the cutlass package. I felt you got the most for less with that starter ship, especially since it had a bunk and a bathroom. I noticed some ships lack a toilet/shower closet. That in itself was my first gripe about SC. For a start, how can a ship realistically function without a toilet? Or, how can ship have a bunk, but nowhere to shit, piss, or shower? IMO, a bathroom should be a mandatory feature on EVERY ship. It's not as if they can't design one that isn't compact and multi-purpose. They even thought of pop out toilet and toilet paper FFS! Somehow, a piss and shit bucket in the corner of my ship does not give the impression of a futuristic and technologically advanced society. It doesn't come across as state-of-the-fucking-art design. Anyway, I'm having slight buyers remorse, and for good reason. For a start, after buying one of the cheaper ships (which was still considerably more than I normally pay), I followed the instructions to the letter. It was fairly clear. Download the launcher first, then from there you can d/l the game. Only one problem, the site offers two different versions of the launcher. 1.6 & 2.0. This was a bit confusing, more so since the 2.0 version I tried first would give me a "2000 error code" and cut off the d/l every time I pressed the "install". Sigh! After endless Googling and 4 fucking hours later I decided to seek help from the issue council. But, before I polluted the forum with my problems, I read many comments from fans who had the same, or other problems, with other error codes. In the end, I tried both 1.6 & 2.0. Rebooted loads of times. The works. One thing struck me as I read through the loooong threads filled with frustrated fans with similar issues and unable to install the game. The staff would ask for their log file, and post a generic scripted reply that gave the same link to "solutions" on their site. The links were useless. FINALLY, I discovered a comment in one thread that claimed to solve the exact same issue I had. Even better, the solution was simple. Apparently, all one had to do was create a folder in the, Roberts Space Industries folder, name it, StarCitizen. Then, create a folder in the SC folder and name it, LIVE. Made sense since the log file mention some missing files. I put the folders in and FINALLY, after many frustrating hours, I had to wait hours for the game to d/l. Seriously? 17meg d/l speed? What pisses me off is the person who posted the solution to the 200 error code had a few people (myself included) post and thank them because the solution worked for them. Yet, the staff that are there to help you keep posting the same sorry links. Don't they read the entire forum and notice when a person finds a simple solution and other people thank them and say it worked for them, too? Why hasn't a single one of them followed up a post with a solution to test its feasibility? At the very least, they should add it to their list of useless solutions. And, what about the log files they say has the answers. As a matter of fact, mine, and many others had the solution in their log files. Like I said, it clearly said it couldn't install due to missing files. If I picked up on that, as well as, others, why didn't the staff who are reading them see this, over posting the same worthless links repeatedly. Eventually, a few hours later, the game was installed. I was ready to go. The over 15 minutes I had to wait for the game to load wasn't an optimistic sign. After what felt like an eternity, I was in the game. The very, very, choppy, with random freezes that last for 10-30 plagued me. How? I have 32 gig of RAM, a recent kickass graphics card, not to mention all the state of the art shit you need to play the game. Still. Choppy as fuck. When I took the train to find my ship, I couldn't believe all the shit and scenery that would slice through the train. Or, the very strange group of around 30 men, all standing bunched together on the seating by the lifts that took me to my ship. 10 years in development and over 700 million the fans have put into the game and they haven't ironed out shit like this? And finally, the total frustration of trying to learn the endless keystrokes/commands you need to learn. It's all not very intuitive. I use to play Elite Dangerous. Yeah, it was a bit tricky to grasp at first. However, I could basically fly a ship from the get go, in part due to the excellent tutorials that pushed you in the right direction. So, I'm no noob to games like this. I get it. That said, I can't help but feel that it would be easier to learn how to fly an actual fucking spaceship from the far future, over learning how to fly in this game. Even after I tweaked the commands on my mouse, keyboard, gamepad AND my X52 pro, many of the controls don't respond. The farthest I've travelled off planet is 50 kilometres. It's insane. I've never struggled like this before in a game. All in all, I wish I never bothered with SC and everything I've experienced since I bought it is the sole reason why. Thank fuck I didn't buy one of the £100+ ships that I had considered. Look, I get that a game in early access needs attention. But, FFS, it's been 10 years and problems like the scenery running through the train, or a few dozen NPC's bunched together, on top of the seating should have been ironed out years ago. More so, ESPECIALLY when you consider what they're asking you to pay. Ever play Satisfactory? A gem of game on Steam. It's been in early access for quite a few years less than SC and it feels far more polished than SC. The devs have had 10 years and 700 million to get it right. Time and money. Two of the best assets any business could hope for when developing a product. Sorry for the wall, but I needed to vent after the last couple of days. To say I'm disappointed with the game is an understatement. And, it's not as if I'm being unreasonable, or too demanding. TBH, after watching all fanboys praise this game, I got the impression this game was of a higher quality. Funny. I never resented the amount of money they have made until I bought the game. Peace, brother.
Very thorough guide, thank you! One thing I might have done different: anywhere other than ArcCorp, setting your respawn to the station is great, but Baijini Point doesn't have a gun or armor store, and if you just died, you might need to buy more before leaving. Still worth telling how, but maybe don't recommend it there?
I used to always start at Lorville but since the official tutorial I’ve started from A18 since the tutorial will automatically place people there. I figure a lot of people might play the tutorial and then need more help (and if I then go from one of the others it doesn’t help them).
Nicely done!! 😁 The only thing I can suggest is to make a video's on OPTIONS which are one of the most confusing and intricate things new and old SC players have to contend with.
I'm guessing you're referring to the graphic options? Those will get an update in the future where they should function like people are used to, just like a "regular" game. But in its current state a guide could be helpful, especially if you have several peripherals (joysticks, controllers, throttles, button boxes) and how well hidden their bindings are

Excellent vid, TY. No one knows more about SC than Mr. Guns. Most of what I know about SC, came from him. Would love to see a Mole mining vid with latest release.
Would love to hear ur thoughts on which ships to go get, after ur starter - So much to choose from. Perhaps a few of the 1 Mil + ships - for if u only start with one of the basic two ships. Then further along a 2-4 Mil mid-tier and so on... Maybe also for different purposes (Fighter, Hauler and such). There are currently so many ships out there and honestly not that many seem really worth it (like the Cutter? Love the Drake Ships but thats a weird one).
Thanks for the guide. Would mention that the clinic and main station inventory has been combined again in this patch. Also, should have taken call to arms for the extra credits from the enemies.
takeing the 600i for the all in one role, still hopeing the rework isnt too far and there will be no need for a medical vehicle onboard thx, enjoying the videos
My first time playing it took me an hour to get out of a hangar at Hurston. Didn’t realize there was hangar doors that needed to be open. Died so many times
Hahaha - and this is why my new player guides are long (they assume no knowledge) :D Once you've been playing a while everything seems so obvious but it's really not when you're new.
Best new player guide I've seen so far. Answered some of my questions after 2 days of playing. One thing...when I try to modify my ship there's a locked symbol. Does the ship need to be stored before you can modify it? Or does it need to actively be in a hangar?
Question: so as far as armor/weapons etc. When we die, we just buy new stuff or whatever we may have looted previously in our local inventory? I seem to lose a lot of weapons and armor from dying, because I'm not very good, lol. Also, there are no differences in weapons and armor such as Common, Rare, Epic, etc.. Correct? No special bonuses, etc. Correct?
I have not played since 2020 and I have only one question. To get back in and do the one thing I enjoy doing (trading with my Freelancer) do I need to use that dumb fin worthless pos mechanic to manually load crates to trade now, or can I still buy cargo and sell cargo?
I'm experiencing the fact my ship randomly explodes, could be happen because i'm using a backpack and gun while sitting at the pilot seat in the Crusader Spirit C1 or is that fixed and i'm bumping with something else?
Do you know what is 4x better than fighting with star citizen patch related bugs, which happens every single major patch? watching star citizens content on youtube...
@@supersavagegodgaming6888 probably a good shout mate 👍 the free flies are also worth jumping in on (but I would keep in mind that with loads of new players performance can tank around them).
I will get back to you in the morning mate (just closed down my pc and headed to bed). I think it’s under “flight - movement” though. One thing you can do is switch to KBM in that menu quickly and scroll through until you see MMB.
Not gonna lie. SC looks impressive, but you can do 98% of this on Elite Dangerous Odyssey, including planetary landing, exo vehicles, and missions in planetary outposts, without having to get an expensive computer. The only thing really missing is ship interiors, but EDO makes up for that with billions of planetary systems to explore and thousands of human controlled planetary systems to do missions/trading and stuff in. Just saying... For those who haven't paid for that high end computer yet. I'm gonna hold off on getting one until SC gets quite a bit more features to separate it from EDO... Because right now, aside from ship interiors to walk around in, EDO has way more than SC.
@@LoudGuns Sure sure, I know it’s a Herculean effort to create such a lengthy and in depth guide. It’s a well done video as are all of your videos. I just wish major creators like yourself would not leave the beacon mechanic out.
How do missiles work in 3.23. I go scm to missile mode, missile ARMS target is selected, I’m in the min and max range. The weapon then shoots but just goes straight.
Yeah you’re doing it right by the sounds of it. As long as I’m aligned to the target I get an audible “missile lock” then they work like they used to - hud for missiles is a bit blocky imo and harder to read than the old one
11:37 - "Heavy backpacks can take either light, medium, or heavy." OOOOOOOPS! That should have been: "Heavy ARMOR can take either light, medium, or heavy backpacks." 12:12 - NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! You forgot to tell them not all scopes, suppressors, and such fit on all weapons. Each weapon will have, in its description, the size of attachment for top (sights), under-barrel (lights), and barrel (suppressors and such). They can be size 1, 2, or 3, depending on the size of the weapon. 14:30 - AND? ANNNNND??? What about sights and under-barrel?
He did mention that weapon attachments come in different sizes, that weapons have different slot sizes and that they have to be the same in order to fit. The rest is probably due to editing fatigue :P
Laser repeaters are probably where I’d start, the ammo recharges and you fire plenty of shots so missing a bit isn’t as painful. Laser cannons are better dps but you need to be more accurate

Best new player guide I've seen so far. Answered some of my questions after 2 days of playing. One thing...when I try to modify my ship there's a locked symbol. Does the ship need to be stored before you can modify it? Or does it need to actively be in a hangar?
Thanks mate 🙏
Yeah sorry little fact I missed! Ships have to be stored and at the location you / the parts are in for you to mod them 👍
With the amount of UI changes this is still likely helpful to active players with new features
Love it load guns. Great video as always 🎉
Cheers Greg! 🙏
brand new player. thank you!
Correct?
great guide thanks for making it.
Love it, good job x
Excellent guide dude cheers.
Cheers mate! 🙏
Another great video LG
Excellent, Thank You
Thanks for watching Katana! 🙏
Solid stuff as usual.
I have not played since 2020 and I have only one question. To get back in and do the one thing I enjoy doing (trading with my Freelancer) do I need to use that dumb fin worthless pos mechanic to manually load crates to trade now, or can I still buy cargo and sell cargo?
Should’ve watched this first lol I crashed into a planet n died ahh learning this will be fun
Great guide!
Ace Ventura UPS delivery scene comes to mind 😂
Haha AV would be a fantastic character for the new creator 😆
Ngl, I’ve been playing for 5 years and this is the first time I’ve heard anyone mention that OM 1 or OM2 are north and south…
Also "learning to drive in a Reno" gives me PTSD (my first car was 9 years old Clio III).
Tbh I got lucky and my first car was an old mini, but a Renault Clio was my second!
I am pretty sure quite few think that "floppy disc" is some medical condition.
😆
I'm experiencing the fact my ship randomly explodes, could be happen because i'm using a backpack and gun while sitting at the pilot seat in the Crusader Spirit C1 or is that fixed and i'm bumping with something else?
A nice movie I must say :D
good shit!
May the algorithm ever be in your favour
Praise be to the algo!
Do you know what is 4x better than fighting with star citizen patch related bugs, which happens every single major patch? watching star citizens content on youtube...
5:11 Man talking about tech from the 1900s... Wild
It was a simpler time 😆
Im going to get the game at 4.0
@@supersavagegodgaming6888 probably a good shout mate 👍 the free flies are also worth jumping in on (but I would keep in mind that with loads of new players performance can tank around them).
@@LoudGuns Okay thx for the advice
pog free healthcare
Yeah I can live with the taxes 😂
Canuck chiming in to say I'm more than happy paying tax for universal healthcare
American here to say that I desperately wish I was 😢
Hardly free then?
@@SledTillDead refer to my comment on your other post about this for the reason I don’t value your opinions.
Dude. What is that keybind called that swaps between QT / Flight / Scanning etc in NAV mode ?!? Did not know that one. I'm on HOTAS so
I will get back to you in the morning mate (just closed down my pc and headed to bed).
Because right now, aside from ship interiors to walk around in, EDO has way more than SC.
can you still autoland? tried holding N but my ship won't autoland
Did I miss your part on using Rescue or Medical Assistance Beacons?
You didn’t - honestly I could probably have made this 3hrs plus 😆
Tried this today and think time my PC needs updating perhaps, what are you running please ?
11:37 - "Heavy backpacks can take either light, medium, or heavy." OOOOOOOPS! That should have been:
"Heavy ARMOR can take either light, medium, or heavy backpacks."
12:12 - NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
The rest is probably due to editing fatigue :P
what weapons do u recommend for new players?
Laser repeaters are probably where I’d start, the ammo recharges and you fire plenty of shots so missing a bit isn’t as painful.
Laser cannons are better dps but you need to be more accurate
@@LoudGuns Kool im going to purchase the Avenger titan as my starter ship , so if u have any builds for it would be most grateful or point me in the right direction! :) And thanks for the response!
The problem with these long tutorials is that i just dont get to play SC! ,😜
+1
Oooo i do love a noobie guide
Nice! Well here we have a 1.25hr one! 😂
Tried playing today. Couldn’t even get out of the bed. Pretty ridiculous.
Algorithm hype!
🙏
The kettle is on
Yorkshire for HW FTW!!
Is that a 3.5" or 5.25" floppy ? 🤣🤣
3.5 - I grew up in the 90’s 😆
I pay so much for healthcare in the US lol
Yep everyone pays taxes, it just varies how we pay them 😆
@@LoudGuns compared to other high income countries, the US has the most expensive healthcare and the worst outcomes. We were ranked 11/11 on the "Mirror, Mirror 2021: Reflecting Poorly" study. We are even worse than Canada lol
posted vid and then 3.23.1 comes out LOL
Ah the life of an SC guide maker 😂
Alternative title: how to not go splat
Haha I’ll consider this for next time!
It's a long one, buddy.
That it is. I honestly do try to be concise I promise 😂
Unless you have the game saved on a solid state drive and 32gb of ram, dont bother with the game at all.
Too late we’re on 4.0 now lol
Oh how I wish that was the case xD
o7
First, what's up Loud Guns
Hey Melsy! You get one of these 🏅
