    How is the podmic powered if plugged directly into the phone?

    • @bambymedia

      The phone powers the microphone via the cable. It's pretty neat!

    Can you get a stand for the Podmic or do you need to hold it the whole time?

    • @bambymedia
      @bambymedia  7 месяцев назад

      Yes you sure can! Here are a few options for you I'd recommend:
      Rode tripod stand (if you need compact). amzn.to/3T12u32
      Desk Stand: amzn.to/3T2Pj1z
      Boom Arm: amzn.to/3uKVfmh

    I'm plugging my rodepodmic usb to my iphone 15 pro with usb c but the input gain when I record in the camera app is super low and I can't find a way to turn the gain up. How did you do it?

      Yeah @taylorabell is right! The Rode Central app on your phone should give you the option to turn the gain up, and make other adjustments. I've got another video coming for specific DSP settings for this microphone too using the Rode Unify app. That'll be with you on the channel soon!

    Thank you, this was so helpful. Would you consider doing a video of a beginner podcast setup for an interview style on location? I have the Rode Wireless Go 2 and an iPhone 13 mini. We want to meet in a cafe and record our conversations. I’ve done a test with just the audio and it sounds okay. Also, what would you do if there is recorded music playing in the background?

    • @bambymedia
      @bambymedia  3 месяца назад +1

      Oo yes I do have a few of those types of videos in the pipelines! Recording in a cafe is going to be a little bit tricky as far as how to manage the background noise. Is there a reason you want to go to a cafe specifically? Rode Wireless Go 2 and the iPhone 13 don't do a lot to manage background noise (as in, they're not designed to be super directional microphones), so you would be better off recording in a quieter location with that setup. We're working on some options though so stay tuned on the channel.

      @bambymedia  11 месяцев назад +2

      Hey @coleedwards1634! Unfortunately that cable won't work. I tried it myself when I first got the Podmic, and it wouldn't power the microphone. I contacted Rode directly via phone to double check, and they confirmed it needed to the the Rode cable because that one supports the power required to make the Podmic work. So definitely get the Rode one! I've linked it in the description in the video for you!

    I have the Podmic Usb and iPhone 14 pro and the SC19 cable and I keep hearing a hissing/white-noise in the background. I tried with other iPhones and with Android and an Ipad (through Rode usb-c to usb-c cable) same hissing. Can’t be quiet as if you connect it to a computer. I feel I have a faulty unit and I am in contact with the support team, But I wanted to confirm with you to feel confident as the support process takes forever to send the mic 😏😕

    • @bambymedia
      @bambymedia  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hey! Thanks for subscribing. Nice to have you here. Nope, I don't have any hissing with this Podmic USB plugging into the same phone as yours. Only difference between your gear and mine there is you're using the SC19 cable, and I use the SC21 cable in this video. Though the only difference between those two cables in the length. Concerning that you're using a different cable for other hardware and you're still getting the hissing sound. Have you changed any settings in the DSP when you plug the Podmic into your computer? The only thing I'm thinking perhaps is if you're getting a hiss, that can sometimes be if the compression is boosting way too much, and that would be something that is adjusted via the computer first plugging the microphone into that. I'm working on a DSP explanation video for the podmic at the moment that might be really useful to you too.

      As far as I'm aware because the new iPhone 15 pro max has a lightning port now, you don't even need an adapter. You can just use the Rode Podmic cable that comes in the box, to plug the microphone straight into your phone! I'm yet to try it myself, but I can't see a reason why it wouldn't work.

    • @HeresHowWithTomi
      @HeresHowWithTomi 9 месяцев назад +1

      The new iPhone 15s have a weird volume limiter that records USB mics extremely low. Rode is aware of this and have addressed it but Apple has not notified customers. It is not fixable by adjusting any of the setting in the Sounds/Haptic setting nor the Music settings. It happens even when trying to record in apps like Black Magic or Filmic Pro. I returned the iPhone 15 pro because of this. I primarily record with iPhone and wanted to use it with my Rode Podmic USB.
