Inarius didn't escape hell, Mephisto let him go. Inarius was consumed by hate and Mephisto saw him as an "extra" tool against Lilith. Killing Rathma was just proof how consumed Inarius was.
As Lilith said: Inarius couldn't hear heaven anymore - because he was already part of hell.

exactly, Inarius was the new hate representation in hell, Mephisto also wanted to be absorved by his soulstone. There are plenty of theories that say that Neyrelle has been manipulated by Mephisto since her mother died, and specially when she was at the horadric chamber, if we pay attention to the end she was pretty sure to convince u to use the soulstone with mephisto and not with Lilith, and lets be real Lilith its a true 3rd path, she hates demons and angels the same. And Mephisto appeared at the side of Neyrelle at the end so we kinda know the next dlc content, Neyrelle as Mephisto container most probably lets remember that Neyrelle and Leia are kinda the same character with the same history.

@@eltrolado5764 Both Inarius and Lilith feel absolute contempt for the weak - Inarius flat out hates humans for being weak, and Lilith flat out says the weak must die. And by "die" she means eaten alive by cannibals who may or may not unlock their powers and be considered worthy of joining her army. Remember Donan's son? Is that the "true 3rd path"?
Also she doesn't hate demons, she quite frankly wants to rule over them, but the prime evils are/were just co*kblocking her. She wanted to consume Mephisto's power to become powerful enough (and maybe get a personal revenge), but she definately didn't have any second thoughts asking Andariel and Duriel for help, and making a deal with Astaroth.

I believe this is true and it may be the reason he changed his mind and thought he could go back into heaven after having been self-assured that creating Sanctuary would forbid him from ever coming back. His own pride blinded him to self-evident truths he knew before. Inarius becaming delusional and drunk on his own egotism (pride), which is what ultimately lead to his fall. • @eleesium8407
      @eleesium8407 Год назад +93

From Inarius' eyes and view he probably thinks that the heavens are always correct. You have to understand that he's a named angel, a Seraphim. What's more "honorable" than being Angel in the high heavens? Even if they delivered him to Mephisto, from his pov he just wants to redeem himself. He wants to go back to the high heavens because that's where "belongs."
Granted he was so deep into his motive that he died because of it. We can all agree he had ample opportunity to kill Lilith but couldn't. He thought she died and that was enough for him to be called into the high heavens. Theory wise it's overran by hell.... But even if it wasn't he was in a delusion of him "belonging" to the high heavens no matter what.
He's 100% stronger than Lilith but was so out of it that he left himself open. His only questions he had was "what more can I do to join the high heavens."

One possibility I havent seen discussed, and one that I feel would sufficenetly subvert expectations is that Inarius is the true main antagonist and that he wants to destroy Sanctuary, as a sort of psychotic form of absolution. We also dont know how he escaped from hell... Perhaps the Primes pschologically tortured him and drove him mad. A sort of angelic manchurian candidate, thats secretly or inadvertantly serving them while Lillith is actually trying to stop them... Albeit in demonic manner. If so it would be Mephistos greatest plan yet, few things are more terrifying than a desperate self righteous angel.

So, the prophecy tells us about light piercing hatred's heart.
In the end Lilith kill Inarus with his own spear through the heart. A fallen, disowned and embittered angel that made it his sole mission to kill Lilith.
After such a long time he himself fell to hatred, he hated sanctuary, he hated Lilith, he hates the situation he's in.

They didn't quite deliver him "willingly", it was a bargain struck between Mephisto and the Angiris Council, in order to secure Sanctuary's neutrality, since he did lose his son Lucion, who was the head of the Triune and his daughter Lilith to Inarius's machinations, so heaven basically agreed to let him take Inarius with him as a sort of "good will" token, and recompense for his lost children, of course, the Prime Evils never honored the bargain completely, but it was his idea to begin with, a truce, to allow the mortals to decide if they belonged in heaven or in hell.

But i always wondered, If the high heavens have something like the Crystal Arch which is the spine of Anu and spawns the angels, shouldn't there be some opposing place in the burning hells born from some part of Tathamet? Also the two pictures look alike in the way there is a large tower in the center and some arround. But The details look too different for it to be just a corrupted Crystal Arch. The two thin large towers of the Heaven are missing. Also the Demonic part has some structures in the sky which make it look like its maybe inside a cave with buildings hanging from the ceiling. I would argue that "Light piercing Hatred's Heart" does not infer that someone or something needs to be killed.
I would argue that it means that the light pierce hatreds heart in order to tame the hatred/abolish hatred itself, which could explain why Lilith shows obvious signs of empathy in the cutscene in the Cinematic with her and Inarius as she ask Inarius: What about our son?".
Remember that both Inarius and Lilith joined hands and created sanctuary in order to escape the eternal conflict and that is Lilith's purpose still.
Her pursuit of power in her mind, is most likely a solution to quell the conflict.
A conflict that by nature cannot be quelled at all, since without conflict, nothing can exist.

Yea my view is that the prophecy of "Light piercing Hatreds Heart" is simply the actual union itself of Inarius and Lilith which could be viewed as Inarius being the Light and Lilith being Hatreds Heart as she is the Lord of Hatred's Daughter.
Which means the act of their union is the prophecy itself. I find that the most plausible explanation.
And i believe that this is what Inarius do not understand. He was / is an Angel of the Light, so him killing his own son, his own offspring, even if that son is in part demonic, surely would be against the high heavens standards for what is acceptable.
Killing your own children surely must be one of the most heinous acts one can commit.

Yeah I don't think so. Imperious was left out of the events of reaper of souls. I assume that will be used to full effect either in the main story or the planned extra content and expansion. It looks less like hell and more like the wrath of imperious. Maybe Inarious will pierce hatreds heart and ascend back to heaven to clean up the mess his brothers made restoring a new balance in the heavens. One that isnt bent on the eternal conflict.... but thats unlikely because the narrative demands that conflict continue so that they can sell more games.
And this is why I prefer a self contained story these days. A resolution can be written whether for good or bad, there is finality to a story.
Imagine tolkien telling lord of the rings, but the ring never gets tossed in the mountain... it just ever gets passed from ring bearer to ring bearer for eternity. The same villain over and over just resurfaces to start the same problems.
Thats diablo in a nutshell. I love a lot of the historical lore of the world of diablo but we're kind of at the point now where we're right where we started every time. I want there to be more change and more finality to the consequences of the narrative.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure pretty much does this too and it's quite good for it.
I don't disagree with you though, contained stories are pretty good and it's hard to keep things interesting on a never ending journey. Diablo's biggest problem is how small the world is. It doesn't feel right that it never ends. We beat major baddies every game, how are there still more?
