I enjoyed that, thank you. The multi-camera collage was very good. The shift to 60 fps was very noticeable, with the cheaper cameras making your movements look very jerky. How would you compare the Elgato with the Insta360 Link, the other currently popular-with-creators webcam? Obviously the latter moves and the Elgato does not, but what about image quality? Could you elaborate on sensor sizes? Resolution is obviously important, but where the DSLR should really score is the size of its sensor. The larger the sensor the more light it can pick up. How does the sensor in the Elgato compare? How about the other devices? BTW It's amazing how far things have come. 25 years ago we set up a video conference suite with three dedicated ISDN lines and quality was dreadful by comparison to today.
Thanks Quentin. I haven't tried an Insta360 to compare unfortunately. The ZV 1 has a 1" sensor, whereas the Facecam Pro has a 1/1.8" sensor. So yes, it should perform better due to having a larger sensor. Particularly in conditions with less than ideal lighting. That being said though, the ZV1 is twice as expensive, so better performance has to be expected. - Mat
Gosh the zv1 does an amazing image, what are you using for your channel now? My whole channel is just on a Logitech brio it’s incredible for a no budget channel.
Panasonic Lumix S5 for A and B roll, Sony ZV1 for top down B roll and Elgato Facecam Pro for any shots where you see me in a greenscreen/streaming sort of shot - Mat
@@KitGuruTech Hi Mat, thanks for replying! I had some extreme online bullying so I had to turn all my comments sections off. I’ll look up the S5. Just found your channel. Be great to get some RUclips growth advice from you sometime or interview you in a collab. Caley.
I got a bit off guard about the illusion thumbnail but still a pretty good review about the webcam the quality is not too bad ig when compared to other webcam
Good review thanks. I don't stream much as my 5700 XT can't hack it and being a mere mortal I don't have a second streaming PC - but would love to get into it more when I eventually upgrade the GPU
Personally I think there's a big difference between the ZV1 and the Facecam Pro in your video. I think spending double the money is worth it to get the ZV1. The image quality is much better, it has better background blur and the autofocus is better.
I bought the Elgato Facecam Pro yesterday and spent a lot of time tweaking it, very good resolution and smooth 60p but the weak point in my opinion is the skin tone colour, it's not as good as either iPhone or a Sony mirrorless. Everything else good (apart from it does get hot) but I may end up returning it because the colours are not that great
Idea for elgato or anyone else that is listening. We have all seen those robotic/ai webcams that follow the subject around to keep them in the center of the frame. Make basically that but add a mount for a shotgun mic so it always points towards the subjects mouth.
While Samsung is overly sharp, Elgato looks a bit blured, out of focus. Production inaccuracies or imperfect lenses, YT compression - not sure. Good camera needs good lenses. It's all about the amount of light you let through. Larger lenses or perfect, really perfect production and materials. Both cost money.
@@canarychrome7012 if I may - many years ago a book by Joe McNally "The Hot Shoe Diaries", which in theory is meant to be about using flashes in photography, changed my thinking about it and imaging in general overnight. Disagree about the microphone. Having one in a webcam is nice to have, even the crappy one - its always there in case you need that. I would like to see directional microphones on webcams, maybe it would be great to make them integrated into software so you could combine multiple microphones into an array to improve stereo effect and noise cancelation.
Stay away from this camera. I’ve had constant issues with it. Regular camera works fine but if you stream, game, and expect to use the effects on this camera while doing so, be prepared to have some issues. The camera lags and stutters for me when using the virtual camera which is what you’ll use if wanting the effects such as blur or green screen. I’m talking with Elgato support still on possible solutions. Something that has helped the lag/delay issue was learning how to nest my scenes in OBS. But I’m now not able to record and stream without issues. For $300 you’d expect to not have to worry about this kind of stuff. I’m sure there is other alternatives. Camera is great when it does work but the amount of small issues I’ve dealt with make that $300 not worth it at all. PC is spec’d out including a 4090 GPU.. 🤷🏻♂️
A little warning, Elgato is one of the few devices which does not work on Linux so don't buy it if you use Linux, there are alternative capture cards though which do work on Linux.
Who wants to see peoples detailed pukey pores, fake tan lines, zits and pimples especially old wrinkles , crows feet and bad face lifts in 4k? godforbid VR.
it's just a gimmick. It's merely a marketing strategy. A face camera isn't necessary to achieve such high performance. It's just another product that unintelligent people with extra cash would purchase.

Love your lighting setup there Mat. It's these tricks that you need to know if you want to do video properly.

YIKES - That price tag! So the real question is can it compete with the *MUCH* more affordable AnkerWork C310 4K camera? 😮😮
That’s the problem with Corsair. The prices are always so high
Yeah it’s expensive. They always are
If someone has that kind of money, I'd say go full on camera. While it does perform very well, I honestly feel they missed the boat.
Yeah I’d agree. Would make a lot more sense
It’s expensive but it seems to serve a target audience well. Maybe I’m missing something
I got a bit off guard about the illusion thumbnail but still a pretty good review about the webcam the quality is not too bad ig when compared to other webcam
I had one of their older models it’s been very good. Recommended.
Which one ?
Super review Mat, i think the price puts me off this, im not hard core enough to actually use it!
You definitely would need to be doing a lot with this to warrant the cost. No questjon.

I love this! Thank you so much for this
Great product. I know someone who is buying one. Will feed back my opinions when I see it.
Please do!
Nice setup mat. !

Great Review, I think I will go for ZV1
Go for it!

That’s a great point. Lens are so so critical. It’s like buying a Leica camera. It’s so much about the lens.

Very informative. How does it compare to the Logitech StreamCam, that is targeted at content creators too.
I haven't reviewed but have owned a StreamCam and the Facecam Pro is miles ahead of it. As it should be for the price - Mat
Miles ahead in everything ?
Seems quite expensive but that's a pretty good spec right there.
Just the way of the world nowadays. Everything's expensive. You tried eating out lately?
Eating out? On Valentine's day?
it’s not a market I’m too bothered about but elgato seem the market leader. Good software.
Software is good. We agree

Thanks 👍
That Sony ZV1 is still really decent but maybe under exposes a little bit.
At least thats a proper camera with a nice lens. But it cant do 60 fps - such a shame.
ITS RICKY BERWIK IN 4K .... FINALLY
They make good products but you can often spend less and get something almost as good as Elgato

That Microsoft lifecam is so rubbish plus thats a really stupid name. Sounds like a lifestyle product. Tampons etc.

bit of a weird comment to be honest. not sure i understand Jonathans point. they are for a very specific audience I guess.
A gimmick ? Not sure I get the point. It’s hardly a gimmick for someone who needs this kind of product.
