13:10 could be because you're changing the color science here, from the Rec 709 to likely 2020, I would assume. The camera claims to support HDR, but if you're not running on an HDR monitor, or recording with rec2020 color science, it will not look right of course, because you've opted to have the camera processing more colors than your monitor/recorded file are seeing. Switch to an HDR monitor and/or record PQ/HLG and observe from there
definitely, I have seen eposvox playing with hdr with these cameras while streaming in hdr on youtube and it looked good! Had of course downsides but also advantages!
With the original Facecam, tones are green *because* your background light is purple. The camera is detecting purple-hued whites and adding green to achieve white. That's why your purple RGBs are white. That's def a situation where you want to set the white balance manually to compensate.
One of my old secondary cameras went out the other day, so I thought I’d get a new main camera and move my Facecam to the secondary position. I put the MK.2 in the basket last night and was going to look at comparisons today before committing. Lo and behold, I look at my newest notifications and there you were. Entertaining and informative! Thanks.
Normally yes, this is the best recommendation for optimal motion blur. However, since I am just sitting and not really moving much, I like to use 1/60 to get more light on to the sensor.
I personally use the m1 as a top down camera for when i do builds and openings. It took a bit to get it to look right at first but totally useful still
My windows pc and the camera hub program show the elgato facecam mk2 but I can not see a video everything is just black. I already installed the program again.. unplugged the cam.. started the pc new.. updated the firmware.. nothing helped. I bought the cam today :(
Yeah I definitely remember the original facecam to be better, even in comparison with the pro and the mk. 2. Not sure why yours is this way, but it sucks that you can't change any setting to fix it
Thank you @nutty for an in depth comparison of the Elgato Facecam line of webcams! I used your discount code to order a pro model!! I also just subscribed!
The only good thing about the sensor on those is that they use sony sensors. Sony is known for good autofocus, colors arent that good. Its not elgatos fault. Just make it as flat as possible in settings and add a sony lut. They have official luts on their website.
Hey Nutty! Love the content! So couple questions. I do a golf themed stream. Some of the features of the pro is you can change your background . I’ve been looking everywhere for a streamer bot tutorial so I can use channel points to have views change my background to a golf course background I have. Any input. I just put a cheesy stream deck button and push when someone redeems. Would like it auto ya know!
He's made a streamerbot channel points vid, and he's made a vid on streamerbot + Stream Deck. You can smoosh them together like peanut butter and jelly. Good luck!
Most of the videos that people put out are generic ez ones. Make a channel point trigger it to a noise or actions. I’m needing one of those master class/advance sbot ones.
@@swingsmooth Yeah I wasn't talking about most people, I'm talking about nutty. He already put out the videos you need. But if you are really sure he hasn't, explain what it is you want in more detail and I'll tell you if his videos cover the information you need.
So if money isnt a problem, should buy the Facecam PRO ? I have Mk2 now, but doesnt feel high quality and has bit of noise... Im about to Stream using OBS
Thanks Nutty, I use an AverMedia 513 webcam, specifically because I have messed up eyes so my face is RIGHT up against the screen, the 513 lets me "appear" farther away as a result of the lens. Is there another product out there for me because this software is jank, the cam get SUPER hot, I'd love another option.
Great video! I just recently got the Elgato facecam pro I was wondering something about your setup is one area for like gaming and the other for videos and content creation?
hello can you help me? I have problem. I have logitech c920 I hear is good camera but my cam quality is no good :( I wonder if this is problem my device because I no stream on pc only on laptop. So I no have idea what problem is. Maybe I need more better light or settings? new camera?
@@JimNortonsAlcoholism Fair enough, I could never understand the difference but I suppose that makes sense. I always thought the other ones looked more washy. This one had more pop. But as you said saturated.
Thank you for this video, it was very helpful...and you do an amazing job with your charisma on camera! Great job. I will be grabbing the pro to work with my Prompter.
I use a DJI Pocket3 4k Gimble camera with face tracking, if your moving around or playing VR its you can't beat it, even sitting it keeps you center in the frame. No i didn't buy it just for a web cam 700.00 camera
i have the original facecam as my second camera for other random crap, i like it but obviously today i would get 2 or pro though its prob not worth the increase in cost for what mine is used for.
Maybe you color graded your video in post but to me it seems the original Facecam looks slightly over(saturated/exposed) and the MK.2 under(saturated/exposed) aka slightly dark/bland/dull/washed out.
Great video. I was looking into a secondary camera. My main is my Sony A7iii and 24-105 G lens. I had a gopro here 8 and a phone connected as second and 3rd cameras, but the go pro just annoys me for some reason lol. Looks like a mk.2 might be a good keyboard cam for when I am streaming fortnite festival or something :) Shocked at the difference between the 1st and 2nd gen camera quality though. In some cases, I think the mk.2 looks better than the pro if I am being honest (especially with the dynamic range and the bokeh as well)
The original Facecam is best. I have 2 of them. I'll be interested to see it tested in comparison to the Elgato Neo webcam. The tint of the original, if you think it's too green is easily fixed. .But honestly these other 2, more expensive Facecams shown here, are dull and washed-out, and that is not fixed so easily.
The elgato facecam software is awful when used with OBS or Streamlabs. The lag on the camera is awful when playing any video game. When the game is off the camera is fine. I have done a million different things and nothing is succesfull I have no idea why this camera is so bad.
I would say that this video has a manipulated opinion. Why? Because each of these cameras require settings tweaking which can make ALL the difference. It is naive to expect ANY usable video from factory settings.
But I like to hear some music in videos because I don't have any music playing in the background... What if he talks too loud. Would you ask him to talk in ASMR or would you simply lower the volume?

You can't because you have no tint control. You need more than just temperature control. Trust me, I tried.

love the mirror trick but iv got to monitors and they both lock different so how do i know what one is best
Shouldn't shutter speed be double your FPS, for 60 FPS, you'd set it to 1/120 or the closet to it you can get?

do you have any experience with the logitech mevo micro four thirds setup? i would love to see that used in obs with your level of depth

Do the face cam pro produce noise when focusing? Especially in an Elgato Propter?
I think they are gonna release the mk 2 pro and i would buy that. The 4k video was better than the mk2 in my opinion. Nice video
The 4k video really should be better than the mk2 given the price difference!
So if money isnt a problem, should buy the Facecam PRO ?

Would you recommend leaving the 4k 60 resolution on the Pro for obs studio/twitch or downgrading it to 1080 60?
4K60 surprisingly looks very clean. It's very low noise especially for a webcam. I run mine at 4K60.
@@nuttylmao that's a bet. Thanks for the reply 👍 keep up the content 🔥

holy shit cameras are crazy. seems like anything goes
I am struggling so much with the camhub software. It never saves my settings. So I got rid of the camhub, which sucks. Send halp.
I find my mk2 has alot of video noise no matter what I do.
mine has noise also, i feel the need to use Noise Reduction on Medium or High .
Wonder if the PRO is better

The camera is over 10 years old lol.
Yeah the HDR mode is such a gimmick. You don't need this indoors. I think they should build in LUT support for applications outside of OBS.
I am not going to lie the Elgato Original looks more rich in color.
