Love it mate. Most of us trying to do tutorials and quick videos for people we work with don't want to have a full studio setup in our office and fiddle with lots of different lights and software and extra peripherals and aaaaaaaaaugh! I just want it to work and look pretty good. Thanks for doing this.
This review was so helpful and saved me time (not having to go down the rabbit hole watching a ton of video reviews). I appreciate your effort. and speaking of rabbit holes, I look forward to binge watching your other videos to learn your perspective on other things. Appreciate you tremendously.
Great roundup, thanks Jack! The music is 🔥 Good point about only getting 720p from the big ones. I'm using an a7s as my daily webcam and it looks and works great. I use it mostly for zoom and google meet and record rarely, so it didn't even occur to me that it only outputs 720 right now. But I'll give it another shot with hdml using camlink..
Really well done a webcam review! Thanks for reviewing all the alternatives to a built-in webcam. I especially loved the lighting tests (natural light + key light and softbox)
Honestly the ZV-E10 is one of the best webcams I have ever had. Easy plug and play USB-C connection, no time limit, charges off of USB-C in case you don't want to get a dummy battery and the Sony Autofocus on this little camera is fantastic! Built-in microphones do a pretty good job and it also does have inputs for an external microphone and a headphone jack in case you are using it for playback as not a webcam. If you have the budget I would say the ZV-E10 and the kit lens is what I started with and it helped me get used to cameras more complex than my smartphone.
@@jackmcdade makes sense, then I think the ZV-1 would be a good replacement for your point and shoot, as it is a lot cheaper, has the same streaming ability and it a built in variable ND filter.
good afternoon. you showed the iPhone 15 for comparison, but did not mention whether you did it directly from the front or main camera, or whether you connected the phone to the computer through a third-party application such as droid cam or iсam?
I've been using Sony ZV1 as a webcam for a long time and never have seen any issues with that. In order to access the screw thread while using dummy batteries inside, all you need is a CAGE :D seriously? 3D printing :D lol. Plus you need a 2m micro usb cable so you can keep it mounted all the time.
Hi Jack, Loved your review, very detailed and i believe we the viewers loved. My suggestion is to decrease the volume of the background music a bit, because its seems its almost at your voice level and can disrupt the viewing experience. Keep up with the great work.
i have sony a7s3 and dummy battery and elgato cam link for shooting courses on my channel but you need to put the elgato cam link on it's own port like don't put it inside hub as it overheat on m1 . and using insta 360 as webcam and i can say it's the best investment
@@jackmcdade cause i wanted easy setup like webcam provided and forget about storage or removing/adding SD card. for frame drops, i faced this issue when elgato cam link was heating then it get disconnected because it was connected to hub but once i found a solution on reddit to make elgato cam link connect to m1 directly without hub and through converter everything worked perfectly
If you are using a Mac and an iPhone I believe Continuity Camera would do what you want. I use an old iPhone and a PC connected with Camo software. Works well. I use an old phone so I can leave it set up and avoid the issues mentioned in this video. There are other apps similar to Camo that do the same thing.

Thanks. This was very helpful. Just got the Insta360 because of you. Very much appreciated
Thanks for doing this Jack. I've got a Logitech 920 and have been looking at the Insta360 Link, hopefully will grab it in the next few months.
My pleasure!

Awesome, thanks for that! I had a hunch, but didn’t want to step up to that price point considering all the other things I already have lol

I appreciate your review. I had to follow no gimmicks and realistic!
Thanks! What camera were you using as the default camera for this video?

I did not know Final Cut Pro auto syncs things! Great video. Very disappointed at all these tiny webcams
It's always interesting when you strip back the marketing, isn't it?
was the iphone connected by continuity cam or something that work in window too ?
qinda big deal, some of as are ok with iphone but not ok with mac :P
Osmo Pocket 3 also works great as a 1080p webcam. Added bonus is that it can track you because it has a gimbal
Good to know. 2 of these had gimbals which is pretty cool.
it does but the insta360 link look way better, the pocket 3 look super soft in webcam mode.

Can you try the DJI pocket 3 in webcam mode?

Why not just shoot to an SD instead of dealing with the Camlink? Don't you risk dropping frames and other issues?

@@amaelftah Thanks for the tip! I do have a Camlink but I've never actually used it lol
@@jackmcdade nice you can give it a try :D
Zv1 buy ulanzi or smallrig cage
You choose ZV1? Well, that obviously is in its own category/price league

@@dondgc2298 I have my iphone connected wireless with my Windows PC, just use CAMO Studio
Music is too loud.
🤤 *promo sm*
All your cameras were tested in different lighting conditions.
Does not make good comparison.
What's up with this awful cowbell music?
Please NO!
I tested them back to back in the same 30 minute window.
