Great channel and a comparison that covers the real world. One thing I want viewers to know is that if you have a bright light in your shot the Tadpole handled it way better than the Lumina. It simply got rid of the blowout that lightbulbs can cause. I bought the Lumina and Tadpole, intending to return one of them. The Lumina was great, but before sending the Tadpole back, I thought, why not give it a chance. Sadly, there is no PC software for all the toys Lumina gives you, but at the end of the day I like the Tadpole for the picture and audio. And it stays put waaaay better.
I'd say that if you have the latest MacBook, the improvement isn't huge. If you want to improve the quality, get the Opal C1. But if you have an older laptop, or a laptop from some other brand, the Tadpole is a great upgrade, and takes almost no space.
It depends what is the use of the webcamera… as you can see from the testing only with tadpole you cannot hear the dishwasher… this camera is for outside of your house… and can do everything it promises… i am taking calls in coffees shops airports etc and my set up is: tadpole for my voice and video and headset with noice canceling to hear the ppl on the meetings and not care about ppl around me … and I dont have any problem at all! How can do that with the macbook?? Everyone will hear the guy sitting next to you speaking on the phone… you can get the C1 or Insta360 but too heavy and too big to carry… When I am home I have an elgato mic so again don’t need the $300 webcameras. Personally if something happened to my tadpole I will replace it immediately! This time I will go with the white one… 😅

the sound quality is pretty impressive
It's not bad, considering it's such a tiny device! But I almost always use my headphones, so I don't use the microphone that much.
Great breakdown! $175 is a great price for this. But do you think it's worth it, given that the MacBook built in camera is pretty good on its own?
