New Engine Knock Sensor from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ib/1AEKS00035
This video shows you how to install a new knock sensor in your 1997-2003 Ford F-150. A knock sensor monitors your vehicle’s engine for unusual pulsations caused by things such as engine knock. If a sensor is damaged or malfunctioning, the engine may run poorly, inefficiently, or only in a low speed safe mode, and may also trigger diagnostic codes.
This process should be similar on the following vehicles:
    1997 Ford F-150
    1998 Ford F-150
    1999 Ford F-150
    2000 Ford F-150
    2001 Ford F-150
    2002 Ford F-150
    2003 Ford F-150

On the 5.4 fords 2 valve . You don’t need to do all that . Just get a ratchet and extension and you can reach it from the top behind the alternator. Easy peasy

Wow alot of work for one sensor. Probably around $1000 to $1500 job cost.

What’s the name of the sensor that plugs at the end of the coil and injector harness? It looks like a grayish “C” shape. Thank you.

On a 2003 f 150 4.6 is there only one knock sensor, and if I saw correctly, the plug end of the new sensor is a female? I my research shows both male and female ends on the replacement knock sensor. I need to make sure which one I need. Thank you

Will a faulty knock sensor cause a knocking sound only when the engine is warm after driving it for a bit

Would this apply to a 1997 Ford Explorer (V6 SOHC 4.0) also ?

This is the only way to get to the knock sensor on a NPI 97 5.4 2valve. on the PI 2000 engine there is an easier way. A non PI motor has both heater hoses at RR of engine. The PI has one on the RF and one on RR.
