I don't do a lot of free motion quilting but whenever i do this video gets another viewing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
Editor Level: Master. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
If I had been just listening, (as I often do), I would not have noticed that little “add in correction“, because the voice never changed.. Job well done!
As always, great lesson!
Glad I found Rob, again... I’ll try to not lose him, again. 😆
THANK YOU ROB! I have been sewing since l was six. My parents got me a Featherweight when l was 8 or 9- l’m 75 now. I never understood tension and now I do ! I am so grateful! I have watched your videos for years, your energetic delivery always makes my day.❤️
I vote for another vid on tension/free motion quilting. I found good help here. Thx.
TY for this. I recently bought a JAzz II and it is terrible! I have heard a lot of ppl (AFTER I bought it!) having problems with JAzzII... TY for sharing this
I bought the bobbin case tension for my mid arm. Guess work out the window!
This is a great series! Thank you Rob.
Thanks, Rob, you highlighted two of my tension issues when free motion quilting. I’m pleased to now know how to correct them. I hope you do more videos like this!
You have helped me so much with this issue.
I have several machines and that I haven't used in YEARS but after watching your video on cleaning I've started taking the out cleaning, oiling and getting them sewing again. I know I can only use one machine at a time but I used to have different machines for different sewing, like one just for heavy duty, one with a special foot that gathers the fabric as you sew.
Thank you sew much for opening my range up again.
Loving this series. One thing I noticed you did not touch on is using the correct bobbin for your machine. For experienced sewers this is a no brainer but maybe not newbies.
Rob, an excellent video, very informative. Thank you
Please teach us about tension on a overlocker/serger.... or give me a link to one you have made
This is a great series!! I have learned so much...thanks Rob and Stitchin' Heaven!
I'm using a singer model 15 from the early 1950s 😬 worked great on the first project with multiple layers, but can't repair at shirt😂🤔
Thanks for such an informative idea. I’ve been sewing for a long time and I learned new things. Keep up the great work!
Thank you! I understand more than I did.... Which may not have been as much as I thought 🤔
One of the issues on my embroidery machine with small spools is the when they have rough ends, or notches and then the top thread stops completely!
My embroidery only machine I only adjusted my drop in bobbin tension when diagnosing a failed drop in bobbin tension spring.... solution was a replacement. (It is so hard to diagnose issues on an embroidery only machine, as you can't just sew straight or zigzag stitch)
My tension on machine is good
First of all, I love all tour videos.. Need some input though. While doing free motion ribbon candy my machine is not catching on the outer curve of the ribbon. Is thay my tension or something else?
Great information! But I do have one question as a sewer. I understand that breaking a needle while sewing can throw the timing off. What else can throw timing off and what can I do as a sewer to advoid doing this? I just had my machine in the shop for a yearly cleaning and check up. While I remembered breaking a needle just prior going into the shop... I did not think that it was hard enough to throw the timing off. Uggggg, it seems that every year the machine is in the shop, I have to have the machine's timing fixed. I'm being to think that I am being taken in because he is the only local repair shop in a 30 mile radiance. Please help.

Thank you for all your information, I’m still having issues w skipped stitches while free Motion sewing 😩Oh it so annoying I’m tired of ripping out stitches . I’m using cotton fabrics cotton batting n cotton thread new 90/14 schemtz needle have rethreaded adjusted tension color coded on the Brother PQ 1500 n it still skips. Sews ok then long skip . Help help help 🥺😠
Yes, are you using the HLx5 style needles? They work much better for free motion on the straight stitch machines. I just confirmed with your owners manual. Give that a try Schemtz makes them, but they are labeled Serger.
Thank You 👍🥳
Never wind bobbins that still have thread in them. That will throw off your thread tension and could cause other problems with your sewing machine.
