I always thought that sewing machine manufacturers never sewed in their lives or they would build larger throat spaces. Minimum should be 16"

My Jacobean had to be serviced twice while while just making masks during the pandemic. I kept on thinking: Why does this dumb machine NOT work as good as my mom’s Singer, purchased in 1939? My quilting group had a zoom meeting where everyone showed off their sewing space. I learned that they all had no computerized machines! Most were older, pre 1960 and the only modern choices were like the Jacome 1600P, which only does a straight stitch and is not computerized. I was right all along. My mom’s machine was better than my fancy one.

I have a 1950's all metal Singer straight-stitch that i amazing but I will be changing to an all metal professional machine soon. I have a PFAFF 6232 from 1990 with dual feed and some fancy stitches but its fully mechanical - not computerised. that is very good and a modern computerised Singer that is plastic garbage and I regret buying.

My vintage Pfaff machines from 30+ years ago have the integrated dual feed! Might be missing other newer items, but I still love my older machines?

*IM ABOUT* to upgrade to a professional machine for my straight stitch work SPECIFICALLY for the throat space - I work with a lot of heavy wools
The other reason is the knee lift and the range of precision feet. The precision of the presser foot has a LOT to do with the quality of the finished product

    Excuse me!
Baby Lock machines are made in Brother factories, BUT to the higher Baby Lock quality standards.
    Look it up!
I purchased my Baby Lock Brilliant for $799 when they were on sale.
Sometimes it pays to wait for sales.

I have a baby lock Presto. It seems as though the fabric doesn’t want to feed through straight. I have to be very vigilante while sewing to make a straight seam. Is anyone having this problem or any ideas?

I have a Bernina 770QE, and a Bernette b37. I’d like to get something a bit better than the Bernette without spending more than around $1000. I’d love some suggestions. I don’t live too far from your shop. Thanks
