4 Reasons Why HR Is NOT Your Friend

  • In this video, I explain why HR is NOT your friend. Many workers think that HR is a safe place to go to with workplace grievances. But, unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. HR is there to protect the company, not you. And it will protect the company by sabotaging you the second you make a complaint. They will set you up for failure. So, watch my video to understand the tricks HR plays on workers and how to protect yourself.

HR is not a Police Department. They are not there to play judge and jury. They are just workers like everybody else. If there is a conflict between two workers, HR is going to do what's right for the company, not the victim. They will usually get rid of the victim, especially if he/she is on the lower hierarchy of the corporate structure. I have heard and read stories about people who complained to HR about harassment. The end result was the victim ended up resigning and in other cases, HR did nothing about it. The only reason I went to HR is that my lawyer said, "You should let HR know because I can tell you right now that the law is not going to help you." If you are being harassed at work, you have to stay there until you find suitable employment. That's what the Unemployment Commission told me.

These bullies are jealous and miserable people. Union, manager, HR and the police are all totally useless. Bullies are lazy bums and stupid managers are scared of the bullies. They say about me I'm crazy, I drink, I'm a stalker all bs defamation of character. The biggest mistake since they removed disciplinary measures. They should arrest the bullies and fire the manager. Action speaks louder than nasty words. It destroyed my reputation. I will never quit to make these lazy bums ever win. If I decide to transfer to another hospital and may start mobbing once again, I don't know all the managers ect like in every department like now. So best to not change hospitals. Great advice. I recently had to make a complaint and everything you say is true. They are not on your side at all, you become an enemy as soon as you contact HR no matter how unfair the treatment you are getting at work. My advice? If you are to the point of complaining to HR, you have to be willing to walk, to find a new job and it might just be better to do that than get embroiled in a lawsuit. After my abuse, I had to see a shrink and I talked to lawyers but in the end I just started applying to new jobs and found one relatively quickly. Leave before the abusive enviroment gives you PTSD or errodes your sense of self worth so completely you will not be in the mental frame of mind to find a new job. Don't stay and get abused, start planning your exit.

The thing about HR reducing legal liability by getting rid of the complaint boggles my mind is that it doesn't fix the problem in the most efficient way possible. Maybe they should reduce legal liability by fixing the cause and the employee who complains is almost never the cause. If you fix the cause, you won't have another of the same complaint from another employee.

I think if you have an issue big enough to where you're thinking of taking it HR, talk to a lawyer first. Have your lawyer write HR a letter. Once the company knows you have enough money to afford a lawyer and can sue them, they're less likely to turn on you and make you the problem. However, if you can't afford a lawyer, instead of going to HR, go on Indeed and start looking for a new job. HR will NOT solve your problems. They will make YOU the problem and they will activity work towards making you go away.

Twenty-one years ago I suffered occupational over-use injuries. I worked for a school district. L&I at that time required an investigation of work-place injury within ten days of (W694816) report. ESD 123 granted themselves four (4) 90 day extensions, denying payment for on-the-job medical injuries' treatment through all that time, and after having worked with overuse injuries for a year I retained an attorney as medical providers had sent me to collections. By the second 90-day extension I understood who I worked for and every email was printed and kept in a file at home. During discovery the school district claimed to have "lost" my email account but we demolished them. 'This principal emailed our client here, that administrator emailed client then, do you have their emails? Defendant has repeatedly demonstrated bad-faith.' Repeated L&I violations by a government agency are akin to qualified immunity. Keep up the good work!

Because HR often steps over people's lives. Being in HR often requires one to have no compassion or empathy towards the person on the other side, a trait that is natural in many women. As a retired employee who never dealt with HR (thank God!), I've watched a few of these videos and they all are pretty much the same. So now that I have this knowledge about HR, this is what I would do if I were in a situation where I needed to file a complaint with HR. First, I would go to my lawyer and share my complaint with them. Secondly, I would file my complaint with HR with a letter from my lawyer establishing strength to avoid any monkey business from HR. This approach, I believe, protects and weaponizes me to the level of the company and forces HR to do it job correctly. And if HR doesn't like this approach, well, they can take an aspirin.

This video can be summed up by this one opening statement..."Human Resources...more like a waste of resources."
Valued employees need to recognize that they hold more power in their company than they realize. If you are skilled and have a good reputation for being a hard worker, honest and ethical, don't allow anyone to lie, manipulate or demean you in any way.
Open and honest communication is how problems at work can be solved today but sadly we live in a world today where dishonesty rules and is king and sometimes you will find this in companies. Companies and management will lie, cheat and steal and they will think that they are doing you a favour. Do YOU really want to work for such a company?

  • @arkboi2145
    @arkboi2145 Месяц назад +1

    I agree with this 100%.
As someone who has worked in Human Resources (HR) for a time, I can tell you that HR is there to strictly benefit the company or business, not the people who work there. HR’s sole purpose and reason for existing, is to manage humans, whom a company or business views as simple tools, a resource, to achieve an end goal. HR then attempts to protect the company’s or business’s investments and assets by trying to ensure those tools act and behave in the exact and proper way that they were hired (bought) for, that those tools are following all the proper designated processes and procedures (to avoid legal issues), and ultimately that those tools don’t end up dulling or breaking all together (burn out and/or performance issues). Otherwise, those dull or broken tools will be quickly and easily thrown away and a new tool will be acquired as swiftly as possible as a replacement.
EVERYTHING an HR department does, is ultimately from this lense. If it ever seems like your HR department “cares” about you or is doing something nice for you, know that the ulterior motive behind it stems from the singular purpose and goal I mentioned above. It’s basic manipulation tactics via Psychology.

3 months before I left company manager of department 2 told head of department I, they want me working for them full-time,
I won't be going back to department 1.
Shortly thereafter the head of department 1 (Indian) got Indian employees to start harassing me (walk past my chair saying 'head of department 1 said he won't stop harassing you until you leave', head of department 1 wants to get rid of you, you think because you of .... nationality we must be scared of you, etc.). Not to mention on my way out of building (going home) an Indian employee threatening me with a knife and gun. Told HR I'm fed up with the harassment, thinking of going to arbitration association and going to a labor lawyer.
Next day called into urgent meeting, suspended for 45 days, then called into disciplinary meeting (accused of fake charges) and dismissed. 4 days later received email stating company received my resignation letter - I never resigned.
Prior to above happening to me another white employee (different department) was targeted by same head of department 1, the white employee resigned with Immediate effect. His work was moved over to department 1 (Indian employees).
Does that sound like nepotism / racism / discrimination by head of department 1 (Indian) ?
Was the intention to replace me with Indian employees of department 1 (just like with other white employee) ?
I chose to fight unfair treatment at work (unfair labor practice) by not responding or retaliating (just ignored it), but reported issue to HR. What is the lesson in above scenario, don't ever trust HR (human resources), if you're an employee, they are not your friend. Don't complain, just get another job, then resign.

Encouraging fellow workers to help their colleagues and if employees are concerned enough to report the so called ailing individual to HR so they can help. Edit: I thought I was safe because I had nothing to hide. The girl was lying because she did something that was gonna get her fired. She even gloated about it the next day.
And they railroaded me for it.

At 3:54, while I agree that HR can be shameful in its lies, it's also noteworthy that some HR offices (or at least some HR generalists) are just plain incompetent. I've seen HR offices lacking in basic knowledge of admin leave, payroll processing timelines, and other separation logistics. Heck, these HR folks would love to lie and wish they had enough process and legal knowledge to do so, but, alas, the best they can do is start to run with the ball and then take a tumble.

The documentation I sent to HR they used against me. And no their investigation doesn't interview other employees that could corroborate your story. If you're in a union shop a lawyer or the EEOC or the Human Rights division will not deal with until all of your investigations and grievances are settled.

Shalom! I am currently going thru this right now. One manager has already contacted Human Resources about me. I was recently given a consultation over something petty; the manager said she has been talking to Human Resources and will begin documenting my actions at work. She and another manager issued me a PIP. I maybe on my way out.

And you in turn need to be documenting them. Are they singling you out? Sounds like it. If you are in a protected class, you may have a legal case. If not, don't stick around for more abuse. They sound like a couple of vipers who have banded together to force you out. Start your exit strategy, it is not going to get better.

@Letsthinkaboutit-mb7nn I believe that you are very much mistaken. Whilst many companies give you medical coverage, it's not required here in the UK. Across the European continent, there are equally better deals.
Paid annual leave is another that we all get here in Europe. Most people in North America can only dream of such benefits.
Also, what's with this thing where you have to pay US taxes for income younearn in other countries? I don't mean to spend 6 weeks in France, then head back after, I mean, when you live and work in another country, that you pay both the local taxes and US taxes.
      Good luck.

The truth is that HR complainers straight up are bad employees. There’s a massive correlation there. I don’t know how one goes to law school and gets passionate about protecting these corporate liabilities.
One thing people don’t remember is this. It’s not the companies that get hurt. It’s the complainers’ managers, who are just trying their best and trying to support their families.

The thing is, you can sue but all they have to do is make up a bunch of reasons why YOU were a bad employee and that was why you were let go. The second they see you as a problem, they watch every single move you make. You took a minute longer during break? That's getting written down. You forgot to write the date on a document? That's getting written down. They won't tell you they're watching you. But they're watching you and building a case against you. Even though you went to them because you're being sexually harassed.

Then a Russian teacher from that school appeared on the video saying that the 6 yo boy was a very bad boy indeed because he used bad words and showed indecent gestures to his classmates!

No SH!T. Hey get your resume up-to-date. Corporations don't owe you anything, so you are your own employer.
Do you do more than expected in your job, are you mentoring others, and asking for feedback? Are you thanking others for helping you finish a task, a report, a collaboration, etc. Always thank others for helping you. It builds trust and they will go out of their way to help you later. Document your work, ask for feedback from your Supervisor and ASK for work.
What I did as a Supervisor, (now retired) was preach to my team was the four Cs: Communication, Collaboration, Cooperation, and Coordination. No one can take shots at you if you do these four things and of course, document your work.
