What an incredible chicken coop build! The design is both functional and stylish, providing a perfect balance between comfort for the chickens and ease of maintenance. I love how you included thoughtful features to make caring for the chickens simpler. This video is a fantastic resource for anyone looking to build a coop that’s both awesome and practical. Great job!
Truly an impressive build. I'm in the middle of building my coop and love to see videos like this to keep me going. The only thing I would have changed up was using hardware cloth instead of chicken wire. But this build is fantastic. I only have 8 chicks, so my coop is only 4'x6' and my run is 6'x12'. Looks like you could easily house 50 chickens in your coop. Great job and your carpentry skills are top notch. Hammering with an actual hammer? That takes skill! I'm using my nail gun!
Yess finally have some funds to build my own chicken coop. I'm excited 😄😄😄 I was going to buy a prefab one but they're so expensive I think building would be a better cheaper option for me
hi everyone ,if anyone else is searching for coop building plans free try coop magic tactic (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my brother in law got great results with it.
Thank you so much for sharing. This video is excellent, visual as can be. Thank you for taking the time and filming your every step. I am a visual learner and this has been the best video I have come across. Keep up the good work. Blessings!
wow , it is beautiful the color I like. you should be care for the gopher to steal the egg or young chicken. I advise to use small opening hardware cloth, such 1/4 opening,1/2 inch opening.
Well, it worked great for about a year before the heat lamp fell on the floor and started a fire and burned it to the ground. lol I insulated it, and it worked really well for the short time I had it
Ha, no worries. It was a lesson Learned and we didn’t lose many chickens. It stayed pretty warm in there. Warm enough for chickens anyway. On the next coop we found an infrared heater that is supposed to eliminate the risk of a fire
Ok thanks was that pushing it or could it hold 30 you think? We're getting 30 chicks soon and I only have a few weeks to get a coop done. How long did it take you to build?
The house is 8’x8’ and the house and run together is 8x16’. We keep 26 chickens in it right now. There’s definitely room for more. I would say it could hold 40 chickens.
It’s definitely a concern. We keep wood shavings in there to keep out the moisture so hopefully it will minimize that issue. I had another coop with OSB a few years ago and I never had an issue though. I just teach them to poop outside 😆
It cost me around $300 to build because I already had the metal and flooring. It will cost around $800 - $1000 total depending on where you purchase your materials
And before anyone says anything about that being farm life, I grew up on a farm and there are other more effective ways of dealing with critters other then killing them.
More effective? You took them and transplanted them into someone else’s area to pawn the problem off on someone else. Let’s not too quickly forget where bubonic plague came from…
They also reproduce at a stupid rate. You kill pests because they bring disease and get into your food and water supply. This country raised girl says kill the rodents
Seriously. You had to kill it and you had to post it. That's not cool. That ended my viewing with you instantly. Not sure how that's even allowed to stay posted.
Totally with you there Gord, instantly stopped watching the video. I get that you live on a farm and dont want those sorts of animals around but there is no need to post that sort of thing. Pretty disgusting you were laughing while doing it too.
@@DIYMAN not to mention they build nests and piss all over everything. Anyone that restores anything old (especially cars/trucks) knows those things cause lots of damage.

Excellent video my friend... especially for us 'farmer' style builders.
Thank you!
This is an awesome video! I learned so much! Thank you!

That groundhog scene was savage & old school (actually just real)
Lol. I’ll take that as a complement 😏

Was it a groundhog?? I thought it was a rat. Groundhogs actually make great pets.
Pretty sure it was a rat or a really big mouse

You’re welcome!
Vinyl flooring works well to keep the chicken coop floor poop free
That’s an awesome tip! Thank you!
Just be careful you dont have any moisture under the vinyl floor. I did and didnt know it, leg went thru the rotted wood. New floor time.
Not for mine the pushed the bedding under it lol
"And hey, that's what kids are for." 🤣
😂 they gotta learn somehow
Nice chicken coop🐣🐤🐓🐔
Thanks Tiara! I appreciate that
This was pretty neat!
Thanks!
Could have lived without the death scene.
Literally... 😏

What size floor joist are they?
I think 12”
nice coop. .would this be warm enough for ND winters?
I did come back and insulate the inside of the coop, so you may want to do the same if you go that route.
@@DIYMANok prob hv to here lol! wht state do u all live in?
Good chance! We are in Oklahoma
Nice coop Man!
Thanks! It was fun to build!
Good job bro

What type of stakes did you use to secure it?
They were homemade stakes made from rebar. They were about 18” long

Really wasn’t expecting to see an animal bludgeoned to death at the beginning of a video about building a chicken coop. 😞

The actual house is 8x8 ft and the total size is 16x8

How much did every thing cost after building?
Check the description for the recommended lumber. Good luck!

Why would u kill that animal ?? It was going to run off and not bother u
It was going to get in my shop and chew up my tools, then spread bubonic plague
