He’s. Only smarter than tails in some areas. In the past he’s openly admitted sometimes he steals tails ideas before he can finish them. He comes up with stuff Tails struggles to understand for sure but tails has absolutely out smarted him before and definitely doesn’t downplay it.
@@hi_tobby3771I’d say tails is a little more cunning, but eggman takes the cake in overall intelligence. Tails (when well written) can think fast and make a solid plan quickly, but given enough time eggman can always make a better one. To put it in game terms tails would win at an RTS but any turn based game eggman would crush him.
Dont forget that he secretly built a maze that bends reality so no one can ever escape it in Vol. 10, because he realized how limiting the laws of our world are, and the only reason it failed was because he was unable to test it on someone simular to sonic before it was discovered In the same volume we also get an indepth look at where and how he tests his machines before sending them out into the field, which was really interesting to read about as well. @@Bubbble_Bear yeah ya know with focused Eggman is on technological improvement wouldn’t be surprised if he uses sonics rampaging to see what things he prioritizes in restoring if it survived. Also the more I think about it Starline recruiting the Zeti is a major reason his virus plan failed. He could have just stayed safe in his machine and everything would be fine:
it's because Starline is aware of the cycle between him and Sonic and Starline's ultimate goal was to try and break it, only after failure of his attempt does he realise how futile his situation was, he says it himself, he planned for every contingency he could think of and it was all dismantled within minutes and he realises that if he were to try again, he would just be perpetuating the very cycle he's trying to break. So in his mind he was left with two options of which he loathed, walk away from the situation and give up eveerything he spent so much time and energy on, or fall into the same vicious cycle of eggman and sonic.
That much becomes clear after he blew up a chunk of the moon (SA2), split the surface of the earth into multiple floating fragments (Sonic Unleashed), and caused a zombie apocalypse (IDW comics).

I love Eggman’s plan here; he knew that he couldn’t go toe-to-toe with Starline if he had his glove. So he chose a specific model of mech to use, knowing that he could defeat Starline in mech-on-mech it would force Starline to use all of his power to destroy his mech. Actually that is pretty smart of eggman, think about it he always uses machines to fight for him so it basically built as a reputation even when you first meet him, in a face to face they wouldn’t think he would do something like that meaning he can easily catch someone off guard with a physical attack
The problem here is that Starline just doesn’t get it he’s trying to impress Eggman not seeing the kind of person that he is, he doesn’t care about anyone or anything but himself and will never see potential in others unless it benefits him. He said so himself once he can’t hire good help but he can build it which means he prefers machines then people

This kinda proved that for all his Admiration and Fanboyness. Guy really did not understand who eggman was. Dr Ivo Robotnick is a complicated character who really just dose things. He is kinda like the joker. As he really dose not want to destroy sonic. Hell half of the time when his schemes fall apart he just teams up with him. Even thou he has the capability to just leave and never come back. Likewise his actual goals are just random. One day he wants to rule the world. Another he wants to control space and time. And then he just wants to turn the world into a theme park. Guy really dose not know what he wants. But the last thing he would ever want is to be upstaged. Starline failed to understand that he is just a minion to him. He dose not want to share rulling the world with starline or anyone. Granted this is assuming he actual wants to rule the world. But regardless starline wants to be equals to him for some reason. And ivo really dose not want to admit that. So this entire plot would just never work. Granted even if the good doctor didn't have a massive ego. Taking over ones entire operation and then expecting them to come crawling back to you like a broken house wife. Really isn't something that most people would do.
Using the 15.AI for Dr. Robotnik's voice was pretty good choice, I mean there were definitely other good voiceovers to ask but in case of not finding one in time in lack of their of use a machine… Sounds pretty weird but hey all I'm saying is nice job
Anyone else feel like some of the tension disappeared fron the impact Dr. Starline made having a "clonk" sound instead of a "crack"? I just keep imagining it as a sort of "bonk" noise and it just cracks me up 🤣
People forget, Eggman only looks like a fool since he almost always goes against a hedgehog that can move at the speed of sound. And that Eggman knowingly tunnel visions himself so that he will win "properly". Know compare him to an above average mobian, he can likely manage with his bare hands. But of course he has an army of robots, and only his ego to hold him back.
Before you comment just know, Dr. Eggman/Orbot/Belle are all voices generated on Uberduck.ai (which are no longer on the site). I provided the voice of Dr. Starline and you can see where the music is from in the credits. I know this is FAR from perfect. I did this entirely for fun and just wanted to share my work with RUclips.
Starline did months of planing and made sure everything was perfect down to the smallest detail and still lost. Now he understands why eggman goes big or goes home, because making plans like that against beings like sonic don't work
I am glad his story ended here. Gives the IDW comics more weight if we know death is a possibility. He could’ve had a story where he tried to redeem himself but he would’ve been fighting for Tails’ spot as the heroic genius in the story.
I think that above all what Starlight suffers is that if Eggman is that dangerous, Sonic has been able to defeat him a million times most of the time alone without friends, that means that if he can't against Eggman against Sonic he will never win.
DR. starline: I have prepared for every outcome, you can't win robotnic! DR. eggman: Is that so? Well i guess I will have to be cautious . 😏 'DR eggman proceeds to hulk smash starline in to the ground like the hulk.'
I see a lot of people dropping in their ideas on this, and I'd like to make mine: I can't help but realize that Starline said he accounted for every minimal event, but he didn't realize the size of his own ego. If Sonic taught me anything, it's that your chances of losing are about the size of your ego. Starline was so proud of his tri-core glove and showed it off to Eggman, little knowing that the latter would make precautionary weapons (such as the goggles blocking out the hypnosis), and prepping the Egg Emperor to catch him off-guard and feeding that massive ego, destroying it with the tri-core blast like he did the last time and making him doubt Eggman's intelligence, before plummeting it all to the ground in seconds. Another thing was that Starline's ego kept him from researching Eggman's goals. The empire he wishes to form will be ruled by him and him alone, not letting anyone have a single share of that. If Straline had noticed that, he wouldn't have let Eggman live, or he could've kept him as Mr Tinker in Windmill Village. His ego and desire to impress Eggman were contingencies that he caused yet didn't account for, and what did that lead to? Not only his downfall, but his death as well. Thank you for coming to my TED talk. I'll see myself out now.
I think I know why Sega wrote eggman the way they did in some of the Sonic games... They fear him, they fear his true genius. Because IDW as well as late Archie comics robotnik has shown to be a very dangerous threat.
He also seems to be canonically faster than Sonic, at least in the video games. When playing as Robotnik in Sonic Adventurer 2 for the Dreamcast, he gets out of his mech when you visit the Chao Garden, and runs so fast that it's almost impossible to control him!
@@Jackapod It's an ancient joke from way back in the days of Sonic 2 that Robotnik is fast enough to outrun Sonic on foot when he's not in his hovercraft. A joke which seems to have remained consistent throughout subsequent games, such as Sonic Adventure 2.
I'm kind of sad about Starline tho, I thought he has a really good thing going up until he was (supposedly) killed off. I liked Starline because he was the third contender between two big brawlers that strategized in the shadows while the other 2 fought, striking when the opportunity arises. Seeing him get killed off is true that Eggman will reign supreme between villains, but disappointing because I'd love to see more Eggman vs Starline action.

Nope he is AS SMARTER AS TAILS they both have 300 IQ
@@hi_tobby3771I’d say tails is a little more cunning, but eggman takes the cake in overall intelligence.
Tails (when well written) can think fast and make a solid plan quickly, but given enough time eggman can always make a better one. To put it in game terms tails would win at an RTS but any turn based game eggman would crush him.
Dont forget that he secretly built a maze that bends reality so no one can ever escape it in Vol. 10, because he realized how limiting the laws of our world are, and the only reason it failed was because he was unable to test it on someone simular to sonic before it was discovered

When orbot claims to eggman that tails must have been the one that was hacking into all his robots (involving the Zeti) Eggman even says without hesitation that tails could easily do it, but if he did he wouldn't have made it so easy to fix. When he does come up with something it's solid and even eggman can't think of a way to fix it easily. Give tails enough time and he'll always come up with something to beat eggmans ideas. Tails and Eggman just have different thought processes.

Honestly, i love the fact they brought back the egg emperor even if it was a very brief cameo. Easily one of my top 5 favorite mechs from Eggman's arsenal.
I love Eggman’s plan here; he knew that he couldn’t go toe-to-toe with Starline if he had his glove. So he chose a specific model of mech to use, knowing that he could defeat Starline in mech-on-mech it would force Starline to use all of his power to destroy his mech. And after that he was sure his martial skills would be superior.
As he said, “it’s all falling into place for me”
The scene where he emerges from the wreckage smiling like that alongside with the background music is just golden.

I like the way the AI says “LiTtLe MaN”
I see a lot of people dropping in their ideas on this, and I'd like to make mine:
I can't help but realize that Starline said he accounted for every minimal event, but he didn't realize the size of his own ego.
