    I could use any of them as a handy tabletop processor with headphones. All very reasonably priced. Zoom sounds better than I thought it would but I like the "little" color screen on the MG300, likewise the metal enclosure of the Valeton is nice. Each has its own tonal identity in the demo tune. No losers here IMO.

    I had the Mooer GE150 for about four days, then I sent it back. It sounded good, but usability was just really bad. It has a few annoying things. Biggest problem is that changing patch does not happen when you press the button, but when you release it. The second biggest issue is that expression pedal range cannot be customized, you cannot assign an effect level and set for example minimum level at 30, max level at 50, it is minimum 0, maximum 100 all the time. So as I said I sent it back after a few days, bough a Hotone Ampero and never looked back.

Given that you are experiencing the pedal first hand and some of us at least just listening to it through small speakers. It would be really helpful to know your opinion on the subject.. after all you know what you were trying to achieve in setting up a sound on each unit. The rest processors needs a lot of mid cutting down in this recording, therefore it's hard to tell wich is best, but I still think it would be Zoom anyway. For those who were / are confused as me
    Valvetron sounds are okayish. Buy this only if you know you are a rough user as it has metal body
    Moore is good but costed a bit more and was out of my budget
    Zoom G1 four is good unit. Biggest advantage being it's battery operated
    I almost went to buy it but then got an opportunity to play the Nux 300 side by side and even to my untrained ears the Nux sounded heaps better.
    So got the Nux. 👍

    I heard you can plug one of these to a headphone and use it without an actual amp. I'm a beginner that's just starting out and I'm currently using a really cheap headphone-plug amp (JOYO JA-01), for my money's worth, should I get one of these and plug a speaker/headset in, or should I get an actual amp in the same price range like Vox Pathfinder 10?

    • @Pomberizer

      All of these have amp simulators and CAB Impulsive Response, so yes, you can use them with headphones and also plug directly through a DI box and play live withaut any amps.

    Is it possible for all of them to be recorded with no sound card, direct with their own USB connection?
    If so, do I still need a sound card for better results or that's just enough?

    • @TaylorDanley
      @TaylorDanley  4 года назад +1

      Yep. I dont know how much, if at all, better the results would be...bi just record straight into an interface out of convenience

      @@TaylorDanley Next video idea, for the way some of them can be used is to compare the USB out sound vs the analog sound out into an interface.
      After A LONG trial and error and even though I find that with better sound cards you can have around the same (but not exactly) results, the USB interface is always far more useable, less congested and with better bass response, even if it is just 16/48 or 24/44,1 or 24/48.
      It gets a bit weirder on the treble response, sometimes is one or the other. You don't have to shootout between all of them, just one that can be used both ways. There is a catch though.
      In order to properly get the results you want to hear, mixed, you should use something like asio4all, use the USB audio driver as input (modeller), have stereo recording enabled on the DAW but use the sound card you usually mix with as output. I can tell you from now that it works, it allows you to hear/adjust the modeller as you want it to hear (because if you use it as the "complete" sound card it will sound a lot different than your normal soundcard: think headphones, you will be mixing on the headphones of the modeller (!) that way and then listening through the headphones of the sound card afterwards, it will be very different.
      So the real way to do it is use the asio USB from the modeller as input and the asio of the sound card you normally use as output. You will have dropouts sometimes but I will like to hear your thoughts or A/B comparisons.
      I seem to find that via USB it's a lot more studio grade like recordings. You do end up with one less analog to digital conversion and it can be a bitch mathematically if the sample rates used are 44,1 to 48 etc...

    • @scarygotchaclub
      @scarygotchaclub 2 года назад

      He is asking if you can record straight from these units as interfaces themselves. The answer is no. You need an input for your DAW in between.

    how do you load the custom IR to the G1 Four?

  • @needsLITHIUM
    @needsLITHIUM 3 года назад +1

    Zoom has really good amp and FX modelling, but their built-in cabinet emulation/IR loader handling is just terrible. Get a zoom and a rack power amp or like a Joyo BlueJay, Mooer BabyBomb, or Valeton TAR-20G, turn off the cab sim and throw it in the FX loop. I have mine in the loop of a Joyo JackMan II and I'm more than happy. Otherwise, use external IR loaders, turn the bass down a bit, and roll off the extreme highs and lows somewhere in the FX chain in your DAW.

    • @kiillabytez
      @kiillabytez Год назад

      You just have to remember to turn off the built in IR when you use an external IR.

    • @needsLITHIUM
      @needsLITHIUM Год назад

      @@kiillabytez I'm talking about using it with an actual cab, but in both that situation and using external IR loaders, yes, turn off the internal IR/cab sim loading feature.
