Mooer GE 150 vs Zoom G1X Four: which one to buy? Entry level amp modeling pedalboard
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 15 сен 2024
- In this video we will share a comparison between the Mooer GE 150 and the Zoom G1X Four. Actually, I hope that this video will be useful for guitarists, who maybe want to buy an entry level new amp modeling and multi effects pedalboard and are unsure which one to choose. Let me say that both the pedalboards are good options, but maybe one of them has that extra feature that better suite your needs…So, the arguments we will discuss together are: the technical differences between the two pedalboards, in terms for instance of in/out, sampling frequency and so on and so forth…Then we will better listen to the sound differences, that you are already hearing in the demo song…Finally I will give you my 2 cents. I hope you enjoy and please don't forget to subscribe and hit the notification bell...it would be of a great help!!!

#MooerGE150 #ZOOMG1XFour
I've never had a better way to get in depth info about a multi-effects pedal in video than from Leo
just awesome work Mr. Gibson
Thank you so much, it is really a great compliment...tha makes me happy!!!
Even though this is not a correct comparison, the Zoom still wins, better mids, a fuller sound, but you should have compared the Zoom with the GE100, anyways, portability, being able to run on batteries or a power bank, being able to turn on or off any effect in the chain and place the effects in whatever order you want, plus a better sound, make the Zoom a no brainer ! IMHO !
I have the zoom and really like it, but I actually liked the sound of the mooer better in your video! One cool thing about the zoom is although it is lightweight it feels incredibly solid like it’s cast in really thick plastic and has almost no ‘give’ to it. It doesn’t bend or creak or feel fragile to me at all.
Hi John, thank you for sharing your opinion! In my opinion they both feel solid for the price.
I dropped mine. Still no issues
Good vid and great playing! For me, the main decision criteria would be the ease of use of all features, versatility of configuration options, and durability (assuming the sound quality of both are comparable). I have the G1X Four, having upgraded from a Zoom GFX707, which is still working fine after 20 years. Zoom has been refining the art of multi-effects pedal design for decades, and I trust them to produce quality goods. The ergonomics, intuitiveness and build quality of the G1X Four are excellent, IMO. Yes, the G1X has fewer patch slots than the GE150, but more than enough for me. The Zoom's AA battery power option is also a must for me. I like the small size too. I haven't tried the GE150, it has to be said. The one feature I wish these pedals had, is drum fills and endings. A drum machine without fills and endings is if little use to me, except as a glorified metronome.
Hi, thank you for sharing your findings and I'm happy that you have appreciated the video!!!
For me the Zoom was better due to several points: 16 amps and 16 cabs is more than enough - if you can't find a usable sound with those there is something wrong with you. 55 amps/26 cabs is just too many.
50 + 10 patches again is more than enough, 200 is overkill.
The effect seem like the Mooer has the advantage but to be fair I've never needed more than 5 effects simultaneously in my life, and don't see any need in the future.
I liked the extra 16 rhythm patterns the Zoom offered, but do prefer the 80s looper of the Mooer over the 30 of the Zoom. I also give the Mooer the better display. I personally went with the Zoom myself and it has not let me down yet.
Hi Andrea, thank you for sharing your opinion and experience!!!
And u can turn and of effect in zoom without chance presets
The amp and cab sim on the Zoom take up their own fx slots. So depending on the use case we might end up with effectively only 3 free slots.
It's a big minus for people like me who aren't using guitar processors along with a hardware amp/cab combo.
Only watched one videos of your yet, but it was an instant subscription! Fantastic content quality, amazing playing. Congrats sir!
Thank you so much, this is a great compliment, and your sub really means a lot to me!!
I prefer the sound quality of the Zoom over the GE 150. No point having many cabinets etc if they doesn't sound right.
Hi Alex, thank you for sharing your opinion with us!
I prefer the ZOOM G1four on clean/Pre Amp/eq block and fx...the feel is like a bit tighter and better...just my preferences...😎👌
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinion with us!
This is a really well made video, compared to other videos who talk too much and don't put enough info. Thank you!
You are welcome, I'm really happy that you appreciate the video!!!
I highly appreciate your effort to do in depth demos and comparisons of various gears in various price ranges.
I am also leaning towards the zoom for the same reason you said on the last part.
Keep up the good work sir!
Thank you, I'm really happy that you appreciate my videos and that you find them useful!!!
I just ordered the G1 Four over the weekend and I'm waiting for it to arrive.
I chose it because it is cheaper than the Mooer and because I was unable to determine if the Mooer can use any effect in any order of the chain like I know the Zoom can.
Must admit it though, it's disheartening how much better the GE150 sounds in this video.
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinion with us!
Waiting for my zoom and have to agree on the sound
I've a marshall mg10 amp. It's a good practise amp, but what's worse is that it doesn't have any delay/reverb effects. I'm planning on buying the zoom g1x four or mooer ge150 processors. Which one would you suggest?
@@aymanF655 not the zoom, that's for sure. I still don't have any experience with the Mooer, but I can say for sure that the G1X Four doesn't sound that great. Also, the USB connector spontaneously broke very early on.
This channel is very good. Thanks for the review!
Thank you Chris, appreciated!!!
So far and based on the intro I just heard, mooer ge-150 sounds WAY more "organic"
Hi Michael, thank you for sharing your opinion and I'm happy to have been of some help!
Probably my favorite intro of yours
Thank you Thomas!!!
Agreed. Leo is a monster guitarist
The Mooer is a bit brighter but so could the Zoom be if adjusted. I have used both and they both have strengths and weaknesses.
The Mooer is set up better out of the box. The zoom needs fettling to sound good. The zoom is killer at the price!!
Hi Richard, thank you for sharing your opinion!
LEOOOOOOO YOU'RE AMAZING MAN!
I am extremely impressed by the level of quality you maintain in your videos, subscribed!!!!
Thank you so much!!!! Your appreciation and sub is really important for me !!!!
Leo, I just stumbled upon your channel and I am impressed with your in depth review and comparison of pedals. You are also an amazing guitar player. Bravo! Can you please do a review of line 6 hx stomp? Or compare it with headrush gig board and tell us if it is worth to spend around 600 dollars on those multi effect pedals?
Hi, thank you very much!!! Well, actually I'm working about a video with the HX Stomp compared to... something else...:) ... Tomorrow I should be able to upload it...stay tuned...
Thank you so much. I will definitely be waiting! Ciao.
I think these comparisons with two products that are not exactly in the same price range are very good, because many times we don't just want to know which product to buy, in that price range. Sometimes, we want to know if the price difference pays off. Just like in your comparison between Mooer GE250 and Mooer GE300 (and sometimes we only comes here to listen good music 🎼😁)
Pt-BR:
Thank you Roberto, I'm really happy that you enjoyed the music and the video!!!
Thank you!
I prefer the sound quality of the GE 150 over the Zoom and you also get alot more. The Zoom has the sound quality of the Mooer GE 100 and it also has more to offer. I had the GE 100 and wasn't thrilled with the sound quality.
Hi David, thank you for sharing your opinion with us!
Great coverage of the comparisons…Thank U
Thank you, I'm super happy that you like the comparison!!!
I recently was able to A/B the GE 150 and the G1X Four. Give me the GE 150 all day. Worth paying a few extra bucks for it
Hi, thank you for sharing!!!
Thanks. It is now $157 vs $100 in the US. Nice solo!!
Thank you for sharing and I'm happy that you like the solo!
Leo - I prefer the Mooer. The tones seem brighter especially on Marshall Sound where the highs are supposed to be brittle or violin like. In my experience Zoom cannot get the EQ right in any of their units and this appears to be exactly the same. I have owned a G3Xn and its predecessor and both suffered from poor EQ. Bass response in the G3xn was especially poor so much so that there Marshall patches never sounded like Marshalls at all in either bass or treble frequencies. I wasted much time in my life trying to correct that but never succeeded so I just sold them on. I think this comes across both in your demo song and the comparisons. To me the Mooer just sounds better, brighter. The Zoom to me sounds dark and slightly muffled.
Nowadays to get close to a Marshall tone I use a Joyo Ironman Goldenface which was far more impressive than any of the Zoom digital pedals.
Great video though!
Thank you Steve, you compliments are really important for me!!! Thank you also for sharing you experience!!!!
@@LeoGibsonGtr Leo -it may be a good idea to compare some Analogue pedals/Amp simulators against the Digital modelling units. At the moment you are comparing like with like, well almost. It might be interesting to see how the digital modellers stack up against analogue pedals. What I have noticed often is that digital units seem to lack a good authentic bass response which is something that analogue pedals do not particularly suffer with. I am so impressed by the GOLDENFACE bass response even when fed into 4.5 inch monitor speaker it feels like it is pushing air.
Good review and great playing. I would have loved to have heard a comparison of the comparable mudulation effects of these two pedals. For example, the stereo delays, vibes, chorus, octavers, pitch splitters, etc.
Hi, thank you so much , I'm really happy that you appreciate the review and the playing!!!
Thank you also for your suggestion!
The only reason I think the zoom could be better (for some people) is the stomp feature. Idk if the mooer has anything like it but on the zoom you can set it on a patch, and you press a button to enter stomp mode. This makes it so 1 pedal cycles through the 5 block, and the other turns them on or off. So if you wanna toggle a distortion pedal, delay, amp, etc on or off you can. To my knowledge you’d just have to copy the same patch to 2 slots on the ge150 and then add or remove the given effect so that on patch has it on and the other has it off (remembering to put them in the slots side by side so you can go back and forth)
Hi Jose, thank you for your message and for sharing your opinion and your knowledge!
Leo Gibson thanks for the reply you, are an amazing guitar player and I really appreciate the he straightforward way you do your comparisons. Cheers and keep rockin! 🤘🏽
@@JosePineda-jn8jk Thank you so much!
Great demo! SUBSCRIBE!!
Zoom has amps which much more focused at the midrange. I prefer zoom.
Thank you Alexandr, appreciated!!!
Nice video, thanks for the comparison.
Hi, you are welcome! Thank you for your message!
For under $100 and practice simple the Zoom G1X four because it has knobs and simple to operate. At some point, you can have too many effects and amps to choose from blurring the lines between programming and just playing. If I was going to spend under $200 it would be a Boss ME80 or might even just grab an ancient Line 6 Pod pro rackmount - twisting knobs to shape the tone.
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinion and experience!
Great clarity and detail, iscritto!
Thank you, really really appreciated!!!!
When I am practicing, it is important that i still love and enjoy the tones I am creating in the music I am practicing. And the zoom sounds REALLY bad to my ears. The Mooer sounds actually pretty good. To me, enjoying every minute I spend in practice, rather than feeling like I must force myself through it, is worth $100. I would rather buy a couple behringer pedals at the pricepoint of the zoom, and sacrifice minimal tone.
Ok Josh, I understand what you mean, and it's totally comprehensible....thank you for sharing your opinion with us!
Zoom g1x four for me because it can be powered with batteries which is very handy for live gig.
Hi, I agree, batteries are a pretty handy feature of the Zoom
Yeah I would not use that live if you don't have to.
@@MobileDecay I've done it and it everything worked fine. No need to spend more than $150 now days for great tone.
Uma mistura de sotaque indiano com brasileiro kaakak very thanks for the video.
You are welcome!!! 😀
Another great comparison video. My question is, which is easier and faster to edit? like if you want to edit while in the middle of a song. Thanks and keep it up
Hi, I think they are on pair...they are both pretty easy to edit in my opinion. Thank you for your message!!!
Ok just got both and after extensively testing here are some clear conclusions that aren't shown on spec wise:
1.Zoom has accurate effects and amps and parameters.. tone wise Zoom has a warm old school sound in the mid-range.
2. Mooer doesn't have the accurate effect and amp parameters but tone wise more hi-fi/processed sounding if that's what you're looking for.
I compared my own Ibanez TS808 to the Zoom and Mooer; the Zoom doesn't have a significant difference in the sound and parameters whereas the Mooer's TS808 sounded like a full on tube amp 🤣
Hi, thank you for sharing!
I appreciate your review. I noticed it in some other reviews you’ve listed as one of your categories the build quality or materials used in the making of the affect panel. I didn’t see that in this comparison. I wonder which of these units is more sturdily built?
Thank you, I'm happy you like the review. It's hard to tell, I would say that the Mooer is a tiny bit better as it has some part of the chassis made of aluminium / metal
i have both i think zoom little bit better but both are useful...
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Excellent Demo! You definitely helped me make up my mind! also, kudos on the guitar playing!
Thank you, appreciated!
So what did you buy?
very nice technique, a pleasure to watch
Thank you Manuel, really appreciated!!!!
Cool track and awesome playing !!!
Thank you Claudio, I'm happy that you like the song!!!
Smokin guitar playing Leo!
Thank you John, I'm super happy that you like my playing!!!
I chose the GE 150 because it looks more solid, it has more presets, the USB OTG port, and a more user friendly interface for me. Of course it's for my practice and home recording and not to be brought on a stage.
I use it in connection with a very good and powerful FRFR system that I built using parts of old and scrap devices, at zero cost. 😎
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinion and experience!
Also Mistake on the Zoom, it has 50 user presets but they can all be overwritten, and it also has autosave , it just saves everything as you modify it, very useful if you forget to save b4 exiting !
What if you didn't want to save it, and wanted to go back factory settings for that particular patch?
@@Lew2000 autosave function in g1four can be disabled. it also has feature to reset to factory patch setting
Great comparison. Thank you very much. For me, it will be the GE-150 or something else. I'm not impressed with the Zoom. I live in SE Asia, so the 150 can be had at a decent price - roughly what you're paying for the Zoom in the west, and the features of the 150 are going to be tough to beat, at that price. One thing; I would think the weight and larger footprint of the GE-150 would be a plus for the added floor-stability, no? Edit: New Subscriber.
Hi, thank you, your sub really means a lot to me! I do agree with everything you said, and yes, the larger format of the 150 could be a plus...it depends on your needs and for what you are gonna use it...
Thank you for your message!!!
Excelente comparação!
Thank you so much… when you like my videos…I’m super happy!!!
Love the G1x four but it has a trass design.
Hi, thank you for sharing!
In keeping with a similar price range, this GE150 should have been compared to the ZOOM G3Xn, not the G1XFour. Maybe you can do a proper comparison between those two units. Maybe do a video on the ZOOM G1XFour vs. the Mooer GE100?. Otherwise, nice showcase video here...
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinions and suggestions! Actually, I received the request for this video as the price of these two units in Asia is very similar (at least it was similar at the moment of the video).
Thank you!
OMG you did it! Insta like :D
Thank you Paul! Appreciated!
Zoom G1F for practicing. Its sounds OK for that purpose, but it actually doesn't have a possibility to add additional IRs. Price and batteries are killer fearures. A lot of features for that price.
Hi, thank you for your message! I do agree with you...
Hi Leo can you do a comparison video between mooer ge150 and valeton gp100?
Hi, I don't hav the valeton...I will check out if I can get a second hand occasion....thank you for your suggestion!
Zoom g1four vs nux mg300 please
Hi, thank you for your suggestion!
I recently obtained the g1x 4, my first pedal since the rp350 digitech. Honestly, it feels like a toy. It has some perks, like the sequence filter, looper. I wish I liked the drum machine more but only a few beats.
Overall, I will return it and get a mooer 150.
Hi, thank you for sharing your experience with us!
I have been using a Zoom PS02 for years. It's old tech, but still sounds good. I am trying Mooer for the looper and other functions.
Too bad you never took the time to read the manual and properly learn how to make your own sounds... your comment is the typical "I don't like how the presets sound so I'll send it back". This unit is pretty amazing for what it costs, but as with any piece of equipment, you need to learn how to use it first.
@@socialdef3 ok
@@Martyrdom143 yeah you're welcome

G1X4 : use ceramic guitar capacitor.
MOOER : use orange drop/polypropylene/film guitar capacitor..

Hi, thank you for sharing!
fantastic video
well done and great playing
you obviously have a classical background
I think the Zoom sounds are a bit thicker and nuanced
good enough for busking and running on batteries is a big plus
are either if the loopers quantized?
a very important feature of any looper which few if any demonstrators pick up on
can either take an aux in eg an external drum machine
do wither have effects loops
Hi Anthony, thank you so much, I'm really happy that you enjoyed the music!!! As far as your question is concerned, I'm not sure, but neither of the two should quantize, but if someone has better info, please drop us an email.
Thank you!
Which one do you like based on sound quality?
Hi, it's very difficult to give you a definitive answer...I try, even if it's really a matter of nuances...to my taste, the Zoom is a little bit better / it's a little bit more pleasant to my ears. thank you for your question.
@@LeoGibsonGtr hhehe thanks for the answer..
my friend told me.. that g1four its like g5n and g3n,, he opened the case,, the different g1four only have 5 chain per preset.

Hi , I purchase the rp55 digitech for a long time, want to buy the G1 four for upgrade for have a best quality sound effect, it is a good idea ??? Thanks
Hi, I don't have the rp55 so I can't tell from direct experience. I would just say that it does not seem a big step forward. I would rather go with one of the units in this video for a more tangible upgrade: ruclips.net/video/5F8YAarIA78/видео.html
Thank you for your message!
I have the G1X Four but after this video I'll also take the GE 150 🙂 Anyway, is there something to do so the "editor" in ZOOM Guitar Lab is available? When I connect my ZOOM via USB I can only click on "effect", "patch" and "news". The "editor" button is inactive. Any solutions?
I Lukasz, thank you for sharing your opinion! unfortunately I don't know how to solve your problem, if someone know, please drop us a message.

Late answer but....The G1 can be also used with the free software from ToneLib (Freeware section). Have the same issue with the Zoom software and solved it by turning off the antivirus and run as Admin. But ToneLib is now my go-to software...so no more issues
I choose mooer ge150

Mooer sounds amazing here! Very dynamic and open tone. Zoom still sounds almost like 20 years ago :(
Hi, thank you or sharing your opinion with us!
Actually, I have the same feeling... I own an old ZOOM 505 and the "clean" sound in this video is making me think that Mooer has a brighter-smoother sound...

Thank you. Great review. Which of these (or even others like Valeton) has more clean tones (and better quality) in your opinion? I am looking for something able to do clean jazz tones). Also, which has more jazz drum rhythms? Grazie.

Lol I'm from southeast asia and the price of the mooer ge150 is like 13,000php while the zoom gx1 four is only 6000php. I think they mistaken the mooer ge150 for a mooer ge100 which is the one that is the same price as with the zoom gx1 four.
Hi, thank you for you message and for sharing the asian prices.
Which should I go for?
So confused between Nux mg100 vs zoom G1x four.
Hi, I don't own a Nux MG 100 therefore I can't tell...sorry
I had a Zoom G1 Four which I sold to buy a used Vox Tonelab Le. Unfortunately when I opened it up to clean the tube I shorted it out because I forgot to disconnect the power cable. Duh! So I got a Nux mg100 and sent the Tonelab for repair. The Nux mg100 has up to 8 effects and the sounds are not too bad but you can't connect it to a computer to download or edit effects, you can't change the order of the effects chain, the battery compartment is too small to fit rechargeable batteries and the battery door broke as it is very flimsy, there is a lot of noise when it's connected to mains power, the noise reduction isn't very good, and I don't even bother picking up the guitar anymore because the Nux mg100 really feels like a cheap and nasty toy. I've been told that my Tonelab is beyond repair so I'm going to buy another Zoom G1 Four.
@@algrundau9441It shorted out. The repair guy replaced a lot of parts but it still won't work. It powers up but that's all. He tells me it needs a new motherboard and I can't find one, but I'm reluctant to throw it out.
@@blackadder2453 I retired my Tonelab ST when I bought the Zoom G1 Four. Don't miss the heavy Tonelab, don't miss the expression pedal and don't miss the amp modeling. With that said, I did use the Tonelab for everything from jamming to recording to rehearsing and live. To me, the G1 Four sounds much more alive in the amp modeling aspect. Love it so much, none of the fanfare from bedroom hipsters about the Line 6/Boss/Headrush convinces me. Fractal, Kemper Axe Fx? Why? No need.
1. Ge 150 mooer / 2. G1 four zoom...??

1!
Cool video. Mooer GE 150 gets me when it comes to tone and OTG feature. But I wonder if it is the same case with Zoom G3xn? Anyone?

@@LeoGibsonGtr perhaps, g1 four vs ge100 would have been closer match. Prices are more comparable!

Thanks for the great review ! Considering the price level, wouldnt the Mooer GE100 be a more fair comparison since it is almost equal in price while the GE150 is double ? BTW, there was quite a bit of background noise in the recordings at 9:13 . Keep up the great work !
Thank you Stefan, really appreciated!
I was concerned about the price difference of the 2 units like you, but I was asked about this comparison in the comments of the video of the Ampero vs GE 250, making me notice that in Asia the GE 150 is cheaper and the prices of the two units are more similar.
I will check out the noise problem, thank you for letting me know.
@@LeoGibsonGtr Ah, i understand. Its really strange how things can be very differently priced for different markets. Both Zoom and Mooer are asian companies as well, although Zoom is from Japan and Mooer from China.
Hi Stefan, just to take into consideration another example, I was also checking out the Line 6 HX stomp and I notice that its price in Europe is around 460€, pretty similar to the GE 250, while in USA is 650$...almost 200$ more than GE 250....I'm very surprised...so it seems that in Europe a comparison between the GE 250 and the HX stomp is fair....while it's less fair in USA....well...I think I'm gonna do it...:)
@@LeoGibsonGtr Its stange when products from the USA is cheaper in Europe, i have mostly found that almost everything in music gear has been much more expensive here in Sweden than in the USA, well that was until Thomann from Germany came into the game, it has been a lot better after that, i mostly buy from Thomann since many years now. The new LIne6 POD Go that has just been released could be something to compare (when its availible) to the GE250 , they should hopefully be fairly similar in price (POD Go $449 in the USA) and also similar build and purpose. Personally im considering the POD Go and the Mooer GE300, i think the Helix lt seems to big and heavy to carry around.
Hi Stefan, I agree, the POD GO seems very interesting! I will try to test it out when available. I agree also about Thomann, I also buy a lot of staff from them...even because the are pretty fast dispatching the orders...thank you for your messages!

@@LeoGibsonGtr Somewhere in Central America? Columbia?
@@DavidAndersoniiVI You should take a look at a map. Columbia is a state of the US, and "Colombia" is located in south América.

Mooer ge 150 wins
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinion with us!
This is by a country mile tee most Italian accent I've ever heard. I'm a native Portuguese speaker so... lo capirei molto meglio se il video fosse in italiano. Scusa se ho scopato qualcosa.
Lol you know you've finished your Italian sentence with a line that says: Sorry if I fucked something?
right now in Asia the Mooer is much cheaper than Zoom
Hi, thank you for let us know!
Italiano?
Ciao, si
Un saluto

Hi, actually I was also skeptical, but the video was requested by the community, underlying that the price of the two units in Asia is much more similar. Thank you for your message!
