Hi Annie, I found this video because I am planning for my 2022 word now. I enjoyed your explanation and process you shared. I have chosen a word of the year for the last 5-6 years and only discovered last fall that there even was an official Word of the Year program that has been around for so long! Usually by this time in the year I am completely settled on my word for the year ahead but this year I am still contemplating. Your video was helpful. Thanks!
I have had a word of the year since 2012. I got the idea from a friend. I've never put this much detail into planning it out or picking it though. My WORD usually just comes to me and I roll with it. I keep a running list of all my words for each year. I've found that by the END of the year, I have found new meaning around the word and it takes ALL year to fully appreciate it. New things develop by the end of the year that really finalize it for me. Words have been Joy, Peace, Focus (that was my 2017 word too!), Abundance, Intentional (for intentional living), Excellence, Goddess, and 2020 is Magical - and it HAS been Magical!
Really love this video. My 2019 word was ‘shine’ & it was such a game changer for me, because I stopped playing small & achieved so much in the process. Taking my time with my 2021 word, thank you for this. Also your voice is very soothing ☺️
I've been having a word for a few years now and took Ali's class two years ago, but I didn't follow through with it since it was just too much for me. But I choose a word and make a plan how to work with it and these words have helped me a lot by always being on my mind through out the year and helping me to choose the better way.
I use a word of the year, as I believer I am definitely going to start your process. This video was very inspiring and I only found your channel yesterday and I love the content.
I have to say, I watched the video as well as the Ali Edwards video and I still don't understand why you would do this. For me, a single word seems way too vague to serve as a guide to anything I want to do. There are too many things it could hook onto. (maybe this is related to the extreme difficulty I have with goal setting and planning?) Do you have another video somewhere that would help me see how this is related to setting actual goals?
Matthewdba, thank you for such a thoughtful comment. I guess I would describe my WOTY as an overarching theme for the year, a theme that inspires and influences all my goals. You can see how I am incorporating this theme in my monthly goal planning videos. I am measuring each of the monthly, weekly and daily actions against the theme of "does this help me flow? or does this hinder my flow?" Thanks for watching!

Such a practical approach and helpful explanation. Thank you!
I love starting to plan the year in November!
I am currently trying to pick a word of the year for 2021 and still cant decide!
I love this guidance - your suggestion (in this video and the other) to keep references is so smart!

I finally decided to do this for 2021. I chose the word "satisfaction "
Great word!!!
@@PlanningAnnie Thanks! I put a lot of thought in to that word. It seems so fitting after 2020. Lol

Would love to see how you transition to goal planning from your word of the year. Enjoying your videos!
Oh, that is the fun part!! I will give an update as I go. Still in "making a list" step right now. So glad you enjoyed. Thanks for watching!
