My late brother Mark started collecting X-men comics just as this started. Making this story and the X-men themselves extremely important to me
This was my favorite comic book series. I collected the entire set, every book from every storyline, and I read them all multiple times. Loved it, and I still think it would make an amazing animated movie.
Let’s not forget about Joe Mad. His art is what shaped that era.
He was awesome on the ONSLAUGHT saga
Age Of Apocalypse was absolutely one of the best X-Men stories ever. Back in the day I read it a million times.
Indeed. I was so obsessed with their twisted take.
I remember getting the Alpha and Omega books
Wow this takes me back. AoA got me into collecting comics.
Man I remember this so clearly. Going to the comic shop and suddenly all the X-Men comics have been replaced? You couldn't keep it a surprise in this day and age, but I wish you could. Marvel comics struggled post Image, but this was definitely the peak of their 90s output. Great work guys! I look back on that period very fondly :)
Man the 90s was such a good decade for the X-Men.
Age of Apocalypse showed Exodus as a capable X-Man.
age of apocalypse will always be a classic.
I started collecting comics during the Fatal Attractions and when Age of Apocalypse dropped my mind was BLOWN (in a good way). Taking 30 YEARS and flipping it into the best "What if...." story ever is superb and I still reread them. I collected the back stories as we well during the years to come. I was just saddened when the sales for the other back stories decreased so much they stopped making them. If only more of the back stories were created (hint, hint)
I was watching XMen Apocalypse deleted scenes and I got notification about this
Legion went back in time to kill Magneto in the past, accidentally killing his father Prof. X.
dragging some of the X-Men to the past,, thus erasing the regular 'Mutant' titles and it's timeline,, for awhile. Pretty great books to read
I PRAY the MCU incorporate The Age Of Apocalypse in the movie version of The X Men storyline.
no thanks
I remember when _X-Men: Evolution_ looked like they were going to touch on _AoA,_ but then was cancelled. I never felt more "robbed" in my entire life. The animated series from the 90s had kind of a version of it I guess, but it definitely wasn't the same thing.
*Edit:* Hopefully one day.
@@ViraL_FootprinT.ex.e I AGREE WITH YOU 100%!!! I FELT ROBBED, TOO!! THEY WERE ABOUT TO USHER IN THE AGE OF APOCALYPSE, AND THEN, POOF!! CANCELLATION!! The only thing I didn’t like about that AOA scene, was how they did Apocalypse’s eyes. They weren’t menacing looking at all. Don’t mind me, I notice those minor things 😂
Rest In Peace Robin Williams
I woukd like some context please.
As we all know Robin Williams was involved in the making of Morph...
one of the best X-men stories ever....this was a game changer in everyway
Currently reading the entire saga. As a kid i used to own X-Calibar, Weapon X. Factor X, Gen Next and Alpha and Omega.
Let's not forget about Gambit and the Externails drawn by Tony Daniel!
I beg Marvel to make this into an animated film, or a live action TV series. Groundbreaking and heartbreaking at the same time.
I bought at least 2 issues of every single issue in Grade 9 when it came out. Just before university, I reread the whole thing and LOVED it still. I should do it again.
I never clicked after watching thumbnail so fast.
Apocalypse was my most favorite villan beside Thanos..
Got into X-men through the 90s X-men show but the first actual X-men comic I ever bought was X-men Chronicles# 2 which was part of the AOA storyline right off the stand in a grocery store in the mid 90s. It was the issue where Rogue chooses Magneto over Gambit (who was my favorite comic character). Her choice crushed me and even though it was in the middle of an alternate reality event I was instantly hooked and began devouring all the back issues of Claremont's run up through AOA. AOA changed my life forever and made me a lifelong comic collector. Still my favorite X-men event ever!
I bought almost all of these books. I thought I was tired of the X-Men, but then they do something brilliant like this. I think I still have most of them. There is also the fact that they did a cliffhanger in their books before AOA that wouldn't be resolved for four months. You never did stuff like that before.
Back in the day, not knowing that the things were going to go back to the way they were made this series that much more real to me.
2nd Season of Wolverine and the X-Men was going to be The Age of Apocalypse story-line.
Alas, the series was cancelled and never made it pass Season 1.
🥺😭
AoA was amazing, Generation Next is one of my favorite X men comics
Im transported back to 7th grade in the city of Saginaw,MI and how many lawns i cut just to buy all of the opening books, missing only Alpha out of my collection. Putting the most important task of my comic life, in the hands of my uncle to pick it up as i was in school. Come home to Xmen #41. No beautiful foil cover. No cool new outfits and teams. I was soooo pissed. Lmao!!!
This is the only marvel movie I ever hoped for. Thanks for mcu so far but work towards this that X-men omega bomb countdown is a perfect cinematic moment waiting to happen
One the greatest story arcs of all time AOA
You guys made magic with this series, the greatest what if ever. Awesome job.
Favorite parts:
Sabretooth/Blink's relationship
X-man/Nate Grey
Magneto taking Charles Xavier's spot
Gambit reaching the McKraan Crystal
Morph
Sunfire
Bob Harras had his moments. His ultimate crime was the Spiderman Clone Saga.
This makes me mad all over again at that last X-Men: Apocalypse movie after watching this.
Lamar Newton, that Bryan singer guy butchered the X-men.
Vivian Thom Agreed. Bryan Singer only made one good X-men movie, which was X2. He never was a good choice for directing X-men movies. Imagine if Nolan had done X-men!
I remember this very well. It was the last time I collected regularly-- my family moved far from any comic store. But I loved this arc.
I love X-Men: Apocalypse, underrated
It’s kind of dumb but it has its moments.
Oh no. What? I can't have read that right
@@moscreefus norime
@@alexh4319 Dumb??? There are more stupid moments in X1 and 2 and Catain Marvel!
It is not an absolute masterpiece maybe but in my opinion it holds up the new saga well and at least it is better than X3 and the first two Wolverine films, in my opinion also of the overrated X1 and 2.
Dave Cerryman days of future past was better
What I remember most about this run was the day they hit the stands I made a B-line for the store. I walked in and what on any other day would be full of titles from Marvel was just the first 4 new issues. Not because they weren't being released that week, but if you read the new stories it would have been because they never existed in the first place to be released. I thought that was a fantastic touch.
Thank God for Legion
My favorite X-Men story, along with Avengers: The Crossing story, Maximum Carnage, and Onslaught.
Yikes
This storyline should be an animated movie
BEST PROPHETIC CONTENT EVER! it describes everything we are living today
Hands down my favorite X-men series. I so wish that they would do this as a movie ill even take animated
Powerful memories... makes all these comic movies all the more entertaining.
Best story line I’ve ever read!!! Incredible. Loved every page of every title 👊🏼💥👊🏼
This was auch a great Storyline with amazing Artista! Thank you for making this.
I still have the whole event minus Omega. Awesome back in the day but over too quick.
My son's mother has basically been holding mine hostage since we broke up back in the day saying that she's holding them for him. Which I kind of don't mind considering that whenever he's ready to crack them open, I know he'll really love the story.
@@ViraL_FootprinT.ex.e my 12 yr old will thumb through my collection. But he's starting develop his own tastes, which is not a bad thing.
This was my all time favorite story!!
Love the art style and owned it since it came out
I loved Age of Apocalypse. Marvel needs to stop trying to redo it every few years (Ages of Apocalypse, Age of X, Age of X-Man....c'mon, guys).
So cool
I love marvel
Los amoooooo. ❤
Oh, yeah....this I remember. The first big world-changing event for me. The only caveat was that it sadly didn't really affect the other parts of the 616 (fantastic four, Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, etc.)
AoA was amazing it was short lived maybe if it had lasted a year it would have had such a stronger staying power and would have gotten much more respect in it's legacy but def a moment of time x-fans loved
It did kind of keep going though. There were three adfitional series, some one-shots and revisits in some of their ongoing series up until 2015.
This is starting to scare me now all these X-MEN documentary I feel like something HUGE and life changing is coming for the X-MEN
Why would that be scary exactly?
@@IllMatic97 all my favorite characters might die or just rewrite the whole existent of X-MEN
@@Vfrezz huh, i thought they were kinda doing that already.
@@Vfrezz I don't if you're being sarcastic, but Hickman writing the X-Men titles is a HUGE deal.
@@mastermix9619 I was being sarcastic.
Them getting rid of all the X-men titles made me quit reading comics for quite some time. I wish I would have stayed reading. I’ve been back for the last 5 years and I enjoy the comics. Just wish they would get back to story lines that seem a bit more like classic X-men stories.
Cool
Does anyone remember the previews in Wizard or other ads, and everyone was trying to figure out who the characters were? Sunfire and Blink were such cool mysteries at the time.
They were all darkened out in silhouette, right? Good times.
So, next should be either Phalanx Covenant, Maximum Carnage, 1602, or the start of the Ultimate line, right?
Can't wait to see X-Men Dark Pheonix this Friday with my cousin and next month on July 2nd 2019 Spider-Man Far From Home can't wait to see it soon.
Good to see someone wants to see that pheonix train wreck
Oddly enough I started collecting at Legion Quest #1. What followed was just excellence writing!
I hadn't started reading Marvel graphic novels until I was 15. Until then, the only magazines I read was the Beano.
_AoA_ was the alternate universe that I feel so like was the gold standard. While _House of M_ came did a decent job eventually, AoA is still *"it"* for me though. I got really into the _Exiles_ at one point, and while some good stories came out of that title, nothing (none of the alternate timelines from that came close to _AoA._
Ame es video
Please Marvel, do a another part of X-Men seminal moments on Days Of Future Past and also The Dark Phoenix Saga
WHY are the Jim Lee omnibuses (vol. 1 and 2) out of print?????????????????????
Epic.
Nice😮😮
The MCU has made billions of dollars. Disney has crazy money to blow on these properties. Imagine if Marvel also made serious animation adaptations of story lines like 'Age of Apocalypse" in the same manner DC animation based on Flashpoint, Batman Year One, and The Dark Knight Returns.
Nice
In AoA, Magneto takes up Charles’s dream.
Blink is just...just....Whoa!
This was dope......its everything house of m wasn't and it was original.
Jordan White does not deserve to be included in a documentary with actual talented people; people whose work he and others like him exploit, insult, and water down in a sad attempt to unnecessarily and shallowly redefine.
The best.
Age of Apocalypse was a great story with the unintended consequence of killing any story momentum in the X-Men line for almost 6 years.
sounds like house of M
I cheered for Apocalypse to win lol hes the man
How was Rogue able to give birth? How was Magneto able to touch her and not be hurt? How did Weapon X's arm not grow back when he still had a healing factor?
BigE-Unchained99, healing a cut is much different than having part of your forearm cut clean off.
@@vivianthom4801 Something about a "magnetic condom/bubble" 😄.....but im serious tho😐
And adamantium is unbreakable
Go ahead 😁😁😁😁
as a kid I just remember Age Of Apocalypse being almost entirely unreadable across the board
AoA is the best 90s event story
If this came out today it would be totally trashed on like they did to the last jedi
Pretty ambitious to juxtapose this with the upcoming relaunch. Putting all the books on hold barely affects their bottom line these days
its good to see marvel talking about their comics and not cooking or anything else.
I❤ Marvel
Larry Hama also created GI Joe cartoon series.
I loved the story and characters of AoA but the one bad thing was it gave us the artwork of Joe Madd, which eventually led to the nose-less Wolverine. I still have no idea why people liked his artwork.
I wish AoA had lasted longer, like 6 months, and had involved the entire Marvel Universe. We did get that 2-book mini series that showed what the rest of the Marvel Universe looked like, but I would have preferred all the Marvel books being transformed during that time.
Nose-less Wolverine--LOL Facts, though.

My favourite x-men phonix wolverine
"Out for blood because we had taken away their precious Kitty and Colossus"
BUT WHY ARE WE NOT TALKING ABOUT ROUGUE AND REMMY GETTING SIDE-THROWN?????
Because Rogue/Magneto is awesome.
The drawings were not that great except for Bachalo's Generation Next and loved the Sugarman villain. Astonishing X-Men was ok as well. In sum, the whole saga in terms of writing was cool.
Is deadpool is the part of either xmen universe or MCU,
I can't understand yet, please tell me if you have any idea
Johny S R Vellalloor he is part of the X-Men film franchise, though his films are set in a different timeline
@@ramenninja04 But in Wolverine orgin there is a different Wade Wilson too who dead in the climax.
Is both are same?
Johny S R Vellalloor No, they are different. Days of Future Past creates a new timeline where that never happened, so the Deadpool films are either set in the new timeline or a separate one
@@ramenninja04 Thank you for the information
Johny S R Vellalloor no problem
