It's not in a game, but I think 'Black Mages' version of this song is one if the best ones: ruclips.net/video/lRhPgzHb_KA/видео.html&ab_channel=FuegoRedXIII
i know some people would disagree but what i loved most about the snes version is the strong bass, thats a bit missing here but the violin ABSOLUTELY makes up for it, i love it, still the only acceptable non og version of my most favorite boss fight music for over 20 years!
The Pixel Remaster FF6 is truely epic, the soundtrack especially as it's all been upgraded so it sounds aweesome yet retains the essence of the original reditions.
Oh yeah... THIS finally captures what the music FELT like back in the 90's in those battles in this story. I'm so happy~ Real OGs went for the Ether reward by the way. :V
Me too! When I first heard this theme, I was temporarily tricked into thinking I was playing a Falcom game and it felt like coming back home after a year of being away. Only to realize that it wasn't Falcom and it was Square, but I still felt the hype.
Tbh, the whole game is like that. I mean, sure it introduced Limit Breaks, the option to switch party members and to toggle between active party members with full ATB bars, those things are important extra little additions, but I never understood why it's considered this legendary masterpiece. Anyone else feel this way? It was just a rehash of FFII after all.
@@raptorlewis273To me it was the setting and the characters. Previous FF games are very medieval and European inspired. VI was the first to break from that mold with having more steampunk setting and tracks that are more modern at least compared to it's predecessors which are also mostly European inspired. It has deeper characters with personal struggles. I-V is where the foundation were built, VI is the game that tried to combine each of those good ideas into 1 game. VI in a way, is the platform that made PS1 era so successful since most of what made VII-IX so successful were based on VI.
Most snes and nes boss themes are short, it's more about how sick the overall melody was and how catchy it was. you could sorta hear how awesome it would be if it was done well.
@@raptorlewis273 This game's story is better than the previous ones to me, but I don't think of VI as a masterpiece in the same regards as other people. That doesn't mean it isn't, just that it isn't for me.
This soundtrack was the reason why i played this game. i played ff7,8,9,10 and 12 before..but never 1-6. thanks to pixel remaster i changed my mind and love ff6. so damn good soundtracks in there and kefka is a great villain.
What's with the hate for the pixel remasters?! I love the snes version of ff6, but the pixel remaster of it blew my mind. Absolute masterpiece, and the soundtrack is incredible
Now that I tried this one, I'm very surprised by the quality of this remaster soundtrack, I usually like far better the originals(unless its Nes era, but even then...)! It motivated me to give a chance to the pixel remasters.
Great music, I'm blown away by this rock update! The battle decisions in the video were driving me nuts though, to be honest. One could easily Healed then > More Commands > Defend when no more healing is necessary when its in its shell.
Well no that's actually something that only started when the series adopted the Active time battle system since enemies could now enter in and out of phases and you choose not to attack immediately unlike the first 3 games.
Kids These Days don't know what it was like to be playing this super moody intro in 1994 and suddenly it's boss time and your face just melts because of the music.
I think everyone can appreciate it. I remember i never played an rpg before and my friend had this game and told me to just listen to the overworld theme. I was astounded and bought it as soon as i could. Finished the whole game after that.
While I tend to prefer the og themes at first with the pixel remastered games (they tend to favor brass in alot of themes), started to love the remixes. The electric guitar bits get my blood pumping 🙌🏽
I definitely prefer the original aside from the violin bit in the middle, it might just be bias since I heard the original first but I feel although this is objectively higher quality with the better instruments I don’t think it benefits much, the mix is less balanced and parts of it are drowned out, it feels way too busy in places, and the guitar is way too over the top and doesn’t fit in, the drums are alright though. I think I prefer the original’s epic action packed sound, even if it’s hard to tell what the instruments are.
Not a bad remake, but I'll stick to the original, this has nothing to do with rose tinted glasses or anything, I just prefer the sound of the SNES version, also the fanfare in this version is just horrid! It's too upbeat, yes you won, but its not party time yet...geez
Glad I still have my SNES and the FF3 cartridge because this looks and sounds worse. Sprites are pastel, text is squished together, adding guitars into old music... 🤮
@@tttitor7710 When the violin kicked in, I pretty much screamed. Didn't think it could get better but it did, hahaha. Violin is my favorite instrument. 🎻
Agreed, I love violins but they are a slower instrument that should not have been part of this fast piece. It slows the whole track down. The original is still better ; I've never heard any re orchestration of this track better than the original anyways, and I listened to tons of them.
Biggs: "Hold it!"

FF6's boss theme is honestly one of the best battle themes in the whole series, and this arrangement is honestly pretty damn amazing!

Of any series.
agreed
Good remake of SNES ff3
This, ff4 boss theme and battle at the big bridge were done masterfully
I love this. The way the violin and guitar mix reminds me a lot of Castlevania and Bloodstained's soundtracks.
And YS !!!
the violins especially remind me of a lot of Sonic soundtracks too lol
@@XyNoST Yeah, it's very Falcom.

100% agreed, the violin is great, even though I miss the bass
NEEDS MORE BASS I AGREE. O-O would be nice if someone made one that mixed both styles
If you listen to this soundtrack totally unshackled on the SNES, Uematsu’s bass isn’t an afterthought, it’s totally essential.
I know some people have felt some songs are hit or miss, this one is not a hit.
It's a direct hit. Brilliant
as me, a FF14 player say, DIRECT CRITICAL HIT!!
best bgm remaster so far, I took so many AFK in boss battles
Because while modern, it still keeps what makes the original good.
You want divisive, the Secret of Mana Remaster OST. This is dang solid.

Violins and guitar together always trigger my Ys and Trails in the Sky memories

I always call that combo the 'falcom violin' lmao
Both rllly good rpgs! Nice mentions!
I forgot about the Pixel Remasters but I will say they definitely cooked on this remix. A certified banger just like the original theme
That baseline is just banging.
The violin is just what this song needed to be perfect
This is very close to Uematsu's composing style from Lost Odyssey.
Violins and metal together, hell yeah
I've always felt this theme was overhyped because of how short it really is, but THIS version kinda nails it!

nothing like the good old snes pixel remaster boss theme. So awesome!!
Ahhh I love the little variation they put with the violin stabs at 1:18
Literally my favorite part lol
This is absolutely fantastic.
As a purist, i was skeptical with pixel remaster... then i gave a try and now im in love!
Damn what a soundtrack remaster, reason alone to pick this up!
ff8 and ff6 easily the best battle themes in the series

The original SP700 sequence on the SNES is more high quality than you can imagine.
I love this and World of Final Fantasy version 🤩

Sweet violin, gives Xenoblade vibes
im hearing a lot of the GBA version in this remix here and i LOVE IT
Much prefer the original version. This one is appropriate for modern style of music nowadays but the original is a super masterpiece
I don't know man, the synth is still 100% that 80s progressive rock cheese that Uematsu loved.
It's good but I still prefer the original. It's just so hard to beat.
Final fantasy 6 music if it was a Nihon Falcom game
La mejor versión de este tema sin duda

THAT VIOLIN THO!
