I never thought I'd say this in a million years, with FF6 being my gold standard for RPGs, but FF2's orchestrated version is my favorite battle theme of the bunch. Of course I'm sure I'll change my mind when i play through 6 again soon. 😂
Since I've really gotten into the Pixel Remaster of FF2, I can say with *some* veracity that it's quite overlooked and there's a LOT of good qualities about it that I'm finding. I don't know that it'll ever become one of my favorites, but the soundtrack is amazing as usual and the story is solid. Thanks for commenting!
I'm glad there is good sound quality on the original songs from 1 and 2. For some reason in the PS4 versions of those games, the original music seems way off balance toward one ear to me, which is odd because it's supposed to be mono.
I ripped these directly from the Switch version, so it's odd to me that the PS4 version is off! That's super weird - well, at least I've got them here! Thank you for commenting!
I always go back and forth. I think the originals will always hold a special place, but the Remasters offer something different! Thank you for commenting!
It depends on what platform you’ll play them on, but in general the average price seems to be $70-90 currently for all 6 of them in a bundle OR around $11-17 a piece separately! Thanks for commenting!
I love the PR versions but have to admit I don’t think I’m a fan of how much of a Mariachi vibe they give off. I don’t know if there’s just too much emotion or human element in the trumpets or what, but it definitely feels like a different flavor. The themes definitely feel strongest when they play up that rock organ.
FF6 remaster is the only one that sounds worse than the original to me. The trumpet is more realistic in the remaster (which I oddly do not prefer). And the rest of the arrangement is very similar to the original but seems less cohesive… even though the instruments are objectively more detailed and distinct sounding.
I had a similar thought to the FF6 Remaster soundtrack originally, but then I remembered that the GBA port of the game also did funny things to the soundtrack and I still think it sounds much worse. However, I think the team behind the Remasters knew it would be a huge undertaking to please fans of the original while simultaneously making something fresh, and in my opinion, they succeeded - it just took repeated listening for me. I'll always think the original is better, but there are a few moments in the Remaster where it leans into the nostalgia while presenting something new (Searching For Friends immediately comes to mind)! Thank you for commenting!
@@TheReturnersHideoutthey certainly didn’t botch it with the pixel remaster. I’d call that an achievement. :D Not sure what version my next FF6 play through will be, but you have me thinking maybe Pixel remaster, just so I can fully experience the whole soundtrack. I was actually thinking a SNES Romhack-addon, or the prior PC remake (same as android+iOS I think). Maybe it will be pixel remaster as I said. In any case, a FFIV play through comes first :D Just still deciding between 3D remake and pixel remaster on that one.
Even the PlayStation fails to pull out the brute power of FFIV as it was on the SNES sound engine... unless you record it directly on to the CD/DVD/Blu ray.
Is it weird that I think that the original soundtracks absolutely shit all over the Pixel Remasters? But for some reason I hold the Pixel Remaster soundtracks into super low regard. I loved the soundtracks for I/II PSP, III/IV 3D, IV Complete. Something about Pixel Remaster sounds way too over produced? I don't know how to describe it. It doesn't fit the tone of the games to me
Updated Final Fantasy Beginner’s Guide (where to start, how to play, etc)! 👉👉

It is amazing what they did with the 8 and 16 bit systems.
I agree! When I was going through them for this video, I had that some thought! Thank you so much for commenting!
the pixel remasters go so hard :-) the music can definitely up
the nostalgic goodness remembering/replaying these games. thanks for posting
Absolutely! Thank for you watching and commenting, Justin!

@@TheReturnersHideout Yeah. Still below 4 and 6 as a total package game. I love the battle theme, though.

the addition of the mini battle theme to ff3 remaster was a nice touch,
I think 4’s will always be my favorite
Every time I hear it, it always hits me right in the nostalgia bones!
FFV's battle theme always gets me so pumped.
Hey bro, always love when you drop new videos. Hope all is well.
Heya! Thanks so much! All is well over here, getting back into the groove of making videos!
Music is a big things for me with Final Fantasy so if the music doesn't gel with me I often will skip it.
I still prefer the old versions of all the FF soundtracks. I don’t know if its Nostalgia or something else..

For me Nostalgia and I would like to play it the OG way
Man, this is great! I love Final Fantasy music. Great job with the transitions. Any chance on boss music comparisons or four fiends theme?
Oh I can absolutely do that! I'll go ahead and get the boss music video done and then work on a 4 fiends! Thanks so much for commenting!
Ff4 had my favorite
It's iconic! Do you prefer the original, or does the Pixel Remaster version do it justice? Thanks so much for commenting!
@@TheReturnersHideout both
Let's goooooo new video!!!
Heck yeah! Trying to get back in the seat of creating content again! Thanks so much for being here!
YES TO THIS VIDEO! 🤘🔥
I may one day like to purchase these pixel remasters. How much are they?

@TheReturnersHideout I was thinking ps4, but thanks and Merry Christmas!
@williamlatham9246 to you as well! It looks like right now the bundle is $74.99 on the PlayStation store!
@TheReturnersHideout oh cool, thanks man.

FF3, FF5, FF6, FF7, And FF10s battle themes are my absolute favorites
PR relies way too much on guitar and rock elements. Other than 2, it gets kind of annoying that every battle theme has those elements.

They sound incredible.
Yea, its wierd indeed. Even if you prefer the original, saying that it "shit all over the pixel remasters" is just utter bs.
Yeah cause the pr versions shit over the original
