Hey Jeff, could you help me? What albums do you recommend me to get into coheed and Cambria? I listened to that album burning star IV and I loved it. I wanna get into them.
@@viniciusaguiar8979 Broski, I started with Burning Star IV as well. If you're tryna go more prog listen to In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3, but if you're lookin for more hard rock then go Good Apollo 2: No World For Tomorrow. Second Stage Turbine Blade is more pop punky but also still prog. Those are their earlier albums, but past that I don't know much about them.
Beth, please don't sleep on this singer and band. They have a gigantic range across their releases and there is a lot to unpack vocally if you get the chance. Love your content!
That's exactly what I said! He deliberately does that so he can't see anyone, because he's such an introvert. That and the fans LOVE his hair! It's like a creature of its own.
I Remember the first time I saw them, I was describing Claudio's voice to someone as the voice of an angel and I heard a thank you from the van in front of me, I was standing outside the venue at the time. He's really shy. Lol
Other acoustics to do: Sentry Defiant (same home living room) Here we are Juggernaut Iron Fist The new The Gutter done both in a studio and in a car (latter is acapella) All great acoustic that show his face. Add A rush and a Push and the Land is Ours with Travis! I really like their acoustic stuff
Claudio has a very special voice. He's not always pitch perfect, he can pronounce some words very strangely. But that man puts so much power and emotion into his voice. There'll never be another musician/song writer like Claudio Sanchez.
idk how im only seeing this three years later but you just said some hard facts. From one Coheed and Cambria fan to another, i hope your lifes going well these days.
I'm a pretty big Coheed fan and this track is not a great introduction to them at all. Just about every other example everyone else has already mentioned here in the comments would be a better example vocally and musically. I'd personally recommend Crossing The Frame, The Suffering, A Favor House Atlantic, Mother Superior, and Wake Up. That out of the way great vid as always!
Another great one by them is Mother Superior acoustic, you can really see the way he projects his vowels. It's a really unique song and worth the listen.
Man I love circa survive, but I saw them live a few months ago and i honestly do not recommend it. It may have been the venue, it was a bar and me and my friends sat dead center where wed get all the best acoustics and anthony greens voice was downright painful. So loud and high pitch, best seat in the house was not the choice for that concert lol
@@fisharepeopletoo9653 aw that's a shame. May have just been the venue like u said tho, or the night was just rough for him. Seen em live multiple times, always been good, always at the same venue tho, big stage, lights, huge floor. Seen em play with coheed and cambria too, that was unreal.
Beth: *starts subconsciously singing along at **8:27* Coheed fans: “Yes… YES. ONE OF US!” Jokes aside, I love that the band sees the audience as part of them. That’s why so many of their songs have harmonies that the crowd just hums and shouts along.
Claudio is an amazing and unique singer and I have to admit I got a little emotional seeing someone with your knowledge recognizing it. You called it when you said there is a lot of joy in his music, don't get me wrong he can go dark but he has a great way of blending heavy metal sounds with melodic choruses like no other song writer I know. Thanks for the react video!
That’s awesome that you did Coheed! They’re an amazing band! They’ve been around as Coheed since 2002, and all 10 of their albums since then have told one overarching sci-fi story, each album accompanied by a comic book or prose novel. Super unique. Check out “Apollo I : The Writing Writer” by these guys!
Man, I've been listening to Coheed for like 15 years, seen them live about a dozen times, and I'm so gutted you did this one. There was a short period when Claudio's voice just went a bit off, I think around the time the band was thinking they may split up (just before this album came out). Since about 2014i-ish you can tell he's worked so hard that now his voice is absolutely amazing. His personal style isn't for everyone, but I really enjoy it, and I'd definitely say check out some newer stuff to see what this guy can really do. Love the vid as always though, cheers!

COHEED AND CAMBRIAAAAA!!!! IM SO HAPPY YOU REACTED TO THEM 😱 Try Wake Up, Ghost, Acoustic Version of The Gutter and Claudio's(The vocalist) Cover of Elm Street Loverboy.
KJ Hferwr I love Elm Street Loverboy it’s a really cool B side and he does a cover of a rush a push and the land is ours by the smiths that is incredible
nice! i love how you were singing along at the end. that's one of the signature moves of becoming a c/c fan. claudio is incredible; not only can he sing really well, and i believe he's mastered his craft as time has gone by, but he can shred as well. i wasn't stoked on the last two albums, but the rest of their collection is superb. please do more!
Was extremely hyped to wake up and see this video on my feed! Coheed has been a favorite for years! Great video, and I really enjoyed your insights. Thanks! :)
Coheed fan and trained singer here, great commentary, and relevant advice for Claudio! I was worried you'll tear him apart because he's not the most consistent singer live. But your advice is good because MOST of his problems stem from his lack of consistent placement on those crazy vowels. It's a weird dichotomy between an AWESOME tenor, then he basically switches into a woofy baritone, making him fall flat.
This is awesome. Claudio is the man! You should do a reaction to their nervous energies session of Mother Superior. One of the best acoustic performances.
This was a super entertaining video. I don’t know anything about the technical aspects of vocals, so it was really fun to hear a professional explain Claudio’s voice. He has such a unique voice, but I never quite knew why until now. I also always wondered how he managed to sing in a “deep” voice despite his high register, I always just assumed it was because he’s such a huge guy with thick vocal chords. Having watched this vid, I now know better!
The energy at any Coheed and Cambria show is always 100% and amazing. In Keeping Secret, Welcome Home, Wake Up. Those are all amazing choices to listen to to get a full understanding of his range. Also Lucky Stars from the new one is light and sweet.
Really great band. I haven't really gotten into them enough but will give them more of a listen. If you like crazy high proggy vocals you should check out The Mars Volta
Coheed still stands as one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen. There’s an entire dvd set of their first 4 albums played live in New Jersey called “neverender” if you wanna hear more.
Listening to recognize so many things I knew I loved about Claudio's style but never could articulate while feeling proud of him as if I had something to do with his singing myself hahaha.
The first place I've found to teach a baritone to pratice tenor spaces.... While I may have stumbled upon this idea through random practice, I will now use it with more of an actual focus. THANK YOU! :D
I could listen to a vocal coach analyze every single coheed and cambria song they ever made. Claudio is one of the most novel, cool singers of all time!
Coheed is my favorite band. An immediate tie for favorite is a Japanese female rock group BAND-MAID. PLEASE review them! Anything from the Studio Coast or Zepp Tokyo DVDs, but especially try "Play"
Yessssss! You finally did my favorite band! Im so happy that you enjoyed them. This performance doesnt really showcase what Claudio(the singer) can actually do but still an awesome little sample. I highly reccomend listening to more of their songs.
I could honestly care less who it is that you react to; I just love hearing you break everything down and analyse it. These videos are always amazing, keep them coming!
Just found this channel! I've been pestering some other vocal reactors to look at Coheed. Glad you did! Claudio is one of my favorite vocalists and it seems like you definitely respect his style. If you're down to look at more, check out any of his acoustic performances of The Gutter. It is much more recent and really beautiful. Cheers from the US!

Claudio Sanchez ( Coheed and Cambria) is incredible he's the like the Micheal Jackson of prog rock. I just went to their concert in NJ last month. Best show ever.
I loved your breakdown of one of my favorite musicians. You only forgot to mention that he’s playing extremely advanced guitar while singing. Which is very hard.
I've noticed variants of "La-Ga" with whichever vowel after the L and G really help you train your sounds. La-ga, Lee-ghee, lie-guy, Lo-go, Lu-gu etc. Do each of those ascending and descending through the notes, the same way as you would the "do re me fa so la ti do" Your voice will love you
My favorite band! :D If Chris is on drums and Mic is on bass, this performance must've been 5+ years ago as a rough guess? Claudio's gotten so much better as a live singer since. He's always an energetic performer and used to struggle a bit to maintain breath support, which you can see here, but has a lot more control these days.
I’m so happy you reacted to Coheed. Their performances of Wake Up or Welcome Home from the Neverender shows are incredible.
I was at the NYC Neverender shows and my stupid face is in the booklet. Four of the best nights of my life.
Welcome Home is masterful.
I'm all about Here to Mars and Mother Superior. When they played Mother Superior at the concert here in L.A I almost lost it ♥️
I went to Neverender in Austin
Was thinking wake up or favor house Atlantic for best reaction
Coheed is my favorite band ever, and watching this happy, sweet-faced redhead enjoy them for the first time was very endearing.

@@arsonall1 supposedly the sentry the Defiant vid was the very first full play through of the song.
Imho, The Light & The Glass is a 9 minute epic that really showcases everything Claudio can do. It's such a beautiful song
My favorite song
Especially the "your fathers dead, he passed in his sleep" part
Claudio Sanchez has the most beautiful voice. I recommend Here To Mars or Darker Side of Me live performances. They are magical.
Candace Darkside of me is incredible.

If you're "that friend," there's a good chance you've transcended beyond fan and are bordering on obsession
Dorian Carter lol so true
Nah it just showed up on my suggestions
So accurate man lol
how i found out bout them, friend in highschool played welcome home in the car on the way home and i was hooked ever since

One of my favourites, aswell as goodnight fair lady
His voice change a lot depending on what song you listen to. Please please do more by them! I love them so much!
His range makes him a bit of a vocal chameleon, which I love about him
Which (preaching to the choir) is because of the story lines behind the music. That's what I love ... you can hear him play the characters

Yes! Mother Superior live in the shoe shop (I think it was?) The Nervous Energies session
Mother Superior nervous energies is where it’s at
