This scene encapsulates so many things. You feel the love these two men had for each other. You feel the genius of their art. You feel the warmth of their performance. You feel the class they had. But most of all, you feel happy.

Very well said. They really did love each other and that was a constant throughout thier entire careers and indeed thier entire lives. You really can see it and feel it in this scene especially. And how about props to all the "extras" through the years who had to keep a straight face for the cameras while these scenes are being filmed!....I mean, you've got these two goofs carrying on right in front of you....the scenes ruined if you bust out laughing.....yeesh...No Pressure! Can you imagine the number of outtakes over the years? Yeah, actors are professionals but come on...they're human. If you look closely you can sort of see it start but the actor recovers thier composure....if it was subtle enough they keep it in...

The ending of the new Stan & Ollie film almost brought me to tears. Despite Ollie's deteriorating health they manage to perform this routine one last time, it's simply one of the sweetest, warmest moments I've seen on screen. The music combined with the way the camera captures their shadows and silhouettes, oh, it's just really beautiful. Please, fans of L&H go and watch it, you won't be disappointed.

This is, indisputably, one of the most transcendent scenes in the history of cinema. For me, this is as close to artistic perfection as anything I’ve ever experienced.

Mr. Hardy loved dancing, and despaired of heavy people gracelessly plodding, whether while dancing or any other time in life. His basic thought on the matter was, "If I can do this, why can't they?" And it wasn't just his dancing - look at how he walks and moves in the rest of his film work. He was a determinedly graceful man.

Idon't think any other comedic double act married so well as Stan and Ollie. There are other greats but they pale when compared to them. I don't know what it is about them - other than the shear brilliance of their timing, the expressions. the movement. They moved seamlessley from silent to audio work, in fact their voices also seam perfect for their act. They have brought many hours of pleasure and laughter in my life.

Does not much better than this, have watched this for years and never fails to make me happy.Stan is a naturally good dancer but Oliver also had music in his veins . True talent happening here, maybe a good idea to show them to young ones at school ..

PRICELESS ! Who can possibly be their "equal" today in comedy talent ?
Stan and Oliver's physical comedy, timing, facial expressiveness, and routines, WHICH THEY COMPOSED THEMSELVES IN A SCRIPT, will never be duplicated. They were truly Grandmasters of comedy !

I don't see anybody has mentioned it, so I'll add that this scene comes from Laurel & Hardy's absolutely delightful film, "Way Out West".

I have a still from this movie in my hallway and I smile as I pass it everyday, Stan's sister kept a pub in Bottesford, Notts and they both came on a visit during their UK tour during the early 1950s. Everyone in nearby Nottingham went wild to see them. Two wonderful stars who have no equal in my view!

@ Chris. Correct, but the plaque on The Bull is wrong. It says they stayed there in '52, when Stan was sunning himself in California. They stayed there just before Christmas in 1953. There 's a great 4-part website on this part of the Laurel and Hardy story. users.tinyworld.co.uk/dtomlinson/BARKSTON4.htm

The affection for Laurel and Hardy here is so heartwarming, reading these comments and knowing how much their performances meant and mean to so many different kinds of people. I have always loved them and their comedy is timeless, their duo matchless and after all this time, they are still making people smile and laugh and cry and that is extraordinary. Charming scene, wonderful pair and I hope they somehow know how much we treasure them and what they gave and shared with the world, a pure gift making it better whilst you're watching. Even more poignant watching this after seeing the beautifully crafted Stan and Ollie film

Whimsical and poignant! The music overtakes them and they start dancing like a romantic couple would. To me, that’s what makes it funny and sweet! They’re both don’t have a woman to dance with so they make the best of it. Hilarious! And they actually have good dance moves and timing.
They achieved immortality as far as I’m concerned with their physical slapstick comedy and timing along with the exasperated looks into the camera.
Stans look says: here’s another fine mess you got me into and Laurels bawling like a baby when things go wrong just get me every time. What else can you do? I have to laugh to stop from crying because of the situations they get into. Things go bad and all you can do is laugh!
They are the original comic duo and team! God bless them both for making me laugh so hard and for being so whimsical and light throughout their careers.
