Laurel and Hardy were my Grandfather's favourite comedy team. As they are mine. The look into the camera was comedy perfection with both men able to captivate an audience with ease. They are total legends and make me laugh to this day.
Good clean comedy. Still funny after all these years. I can watch them all day long and still laugh till it hurts. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
How lucky was the world the day these wonderful beautiful funny pair of comic geniuses started making films, lord send them back to teach us how to laugh,
I remember the cinema just behind our house full of people of all ages roaring with honest, healthy laughter watching Laurel and Hardy every Saturday evening. Today's pseudo comedians are often difficult to understand, have a very limited agenda and do not attract all audience as good old Stanley and Oliver.
I'm 22 years old myself. It's amazing to see that to this day they still entertain people. And I plan to show my future children this legendary comedy duo for years to come.
Stan alerts the whole building, "there's going to be a fight". I am still cracking up when Oliver said, "you smile when you call me that!" Gotta love these two❤🤣🤣🤣
75 years on, top comedians are still copying Stan Laurel's classic material (he was the main writer) but the original is by far the best! Thumbs if you agree :-)
I am with U on your statement, they were clean, family oriented, very funny, hilarious, and enjoyable to watch. Back then comedy was comedy, today is nothing but filth, pornography, too much sex, hate, murder, killings, witchcraft, anti God, anti America, occultism, and putting down someone's religious beliefs.
@Zeek Banistor because back then pornography and sex was kept pretty much low profile. Movies were more based on hilarious, funny, religion, history, and respect. Nowadays it's full of pregnancies, pornography, porn stars, sexuality, filth, hate, anti religion, anti Man, and glorifying feminism.
They really had no choice. The Hayes Office controlled what was permissible in films at the time. Anything they deemed unsuitable was axed. It both stifled and inspired a lot of creative genius.
I have always loved this duo and their movies. I have seen most of their silent movies and talkies. They made several movies during the WW2 era, also. During 1965, a color cartoon of the duo was on tv each week, I watched it then. I started watching their movies during 1969, when I was age 9. In those days, on weekends, those movies would be shown sometimes.
Blockheads was one of the best films they made. When Stanley was in the wheelchair and Hardy thought he was hurt was great. Driving the car through the garage testing out the automatic door was funny too!!! WHY CAN'T THERE BE COMEDY LIKE THIS ANYMORE??? This will always be funny. Hearing the F word 100 times in a movie is not.
this was the funniest L&H film of all..i remember watching this when i was 7, with my dad, uncle, and grandad, and we were all in histerics.that tells you all you need to know about laurel and hardy
Laurel and Hardy are great comedians everybody says but don't forget about James Finlayson he is a great comedian in his own right he also makes people laughs.
YOU ARE SO RIGHT! You know what else is funny? People have been saying "today's TV shows are shit" for at least 10 years now. And they are. Thank God for youtube! "When I laugh, a little pee comes out of me. Not from the front.......from the BACK!" Now that's funny.
Lizzie The Heretic you are so right the problem these days is people can't laugh at themselves anymore and have got to P.C. mind you I'm not talking about comedy like( Love Thy Neighbour) that made me cringe.
Expecting slapstick to be banned soon for being 'violent'... Comedy gold are Stan and Olly...not forgetting their list of antagonists such as James Finlayson (as seen here), and my other favourite, Charlie Hall (from Birmingham, if I remember correctly).
Geez! That car at the end missed him by 3 inches! No way would they shoot it that way nowadays. Anyway, what I _thought_ was going to happen was that they were going to go down 13 flights of stairs and then be too tired to fight!
'3 inches'? So you measured it. Guaranteed it missed by several feel and the shot was carefully choreographed. Stars were much too valuable to risk putting in jeopardy - especially the irreplaceable icons of that era, like Laurel an Hardy.
Masters of choreography, from the gathering of spectators to the trivial insults to the arrogance of right of way to the fight itself did not look "professional" but like real-life amateurs. This scene teaches all a lesson in wisdom and the stupidity of uncontrolled entitlement to questionable manners to dueling.
Stan really was the worst friend you could have. Look at how many instances poor Oliver had to endure because of Stan and his big mouth. What an instigator!
Stan means well and at times he seems to try and help Ollie as best he can. Especially when Ollie ended up getting himself into trouble and Stan had an obvious way out of it.
The best there was and the best there’ll ever be. Nothing beats Stan & Ollie.
i would put curley from the 3 stooges in their league.
Amen to that
Never a truer word spoken. Stan & ollie. 2 legends.❤
Laurel and Hardy were and still are my favourite comedy duo. Innocent and clean laughter. How the world's changed👎
Eighty years on...... and it’s still a classic. It puts to shame a lot of modern (so called) comedy.
Agreed
Agreed.
Agreed.

They still crack me up the same after 40+ years my God we were thoroughly spoiled, they were outrageously talented.
Oh tes, long may this continue.... 💋 🤣🤣👏.

you're grandfathers? These people are over 100 years old!
@@cosherbates9641 What’s your point? You don’t know how old Philip is in the first place.
No one has ever come like these two duos.
There's gunna be a fight! :) just pure brilliance, these two were the best and still are the best!! Got the dvd boxset :D
My favorite line from the entire L & H library is, "I don't know what that means, but all of these people can't be wrong!"
Good clean comedy. Still funny after all these years. I can watch them all day long and still laugh till it hurts. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
Talent like them is hard to come by. The same for the other old comedies. It doesn't help that the standard of comedy seems to have changed.
How lucky was the world the day these wonderful beautiful funny pair of comic geniuses started making films, lord send them back to teach us how to laugh,

Great unbeatable top comedians
Stan was a Legend and pure Genius!
I'm so glad I grew up in the 50's. Our comedians we're actually funny, our movie stars had "class", and TV was worth watching.
A steady diet of L&H, The Little Rascals, WB cartoons, The Three Stooges and other cheap "filler". We had it made.
I like a lot of these old comedies better then the ones we have on today. I suppose it is just a matter of taste.
@@johnprovince5304 I'm only 12 and i watch all of those groups you mentioned below l&h a&c little rascals 3 stooges Marx brothers all of them
No, it's a matter of raw talent and allowing the performers the creative freedom to make it flourish - not the acting schools and coaches.
I was born in 1960 used to watch with my dad on Saturday morning lovely
Remember watching this with my Dad on Saturday mornings in the 70s...laughing until our sides ached....
Anglo/ American comedy at its best!!
I'm 76 years old. I've been watching L& H since childhood and they still make me laugh. They are true artist.

Jimmy "doh!!!" Finlayson was a wonderful comedy character actor.
This is truly brilliant, "There's going to be a fight" Haha! They walk all the way back down for it! Pure comedic genius.
"Why don't you take him outside" such a shit stirrer, brilliant.

"Well,, that's better!"
"You're an inflated blimp!".
"That's different!"
The true innovators of comedy, they never made a bad film..

My ex-boyfriend. That's part of why he became the ex.

Stan and Ollie were brilliant, they could even make violence look funny. RIP guys, you were great.
These guys were simply the best. Great to see James Finlayson, King of the double take and I think the originator of D'oh!!
Never lost his Scottish accent
The moustache he had was fake
Yes! I want to see more episodes with James-he is hilarious.
Finlayson is from my neck of the woods
Yes indeed Dan Castellaneta explains all here. ruclips.net/video/UGiJOHDJEss/видео.html
I like the psychology everybody wants to see a good fight.
H
Just like school days.
"There's gonna be a fight!" One of the many quotes from The Boys I use all the time. Even though there's never a fight.
Wimpy in Popeye used to say "Let's you and him fight!" Could have been a Stan Laurel line.
I watched this on Sundays
Right after the gospel jubilee
What a comedy duo
Marvellous.
Easily one of my favorites!
Forever laurel & hardy & James Finlayson. 😂 "Finn"

That brought him back!
"WHO'S *YELLOW,* EH!?"
Respect The Fin.......The original D'oh........
Puts modern comedy to shame.
Love how Stan suggested going outside then became the hype man for the whole thing.
I didn't know that Stan Laurel wrote most of the comedy. Incredible.
"you smile when you call me that!"

A lost art. No one today could do 10 minutes of comedy gold just putting on their shoes.
Loved it how Hardy told him to SMILE when the other guy called him a BIG OVERSTUFFED POLLIWOG.

They were the greatest comedy team ever. Love them to bits.
