I'd like to BET that many a person has wet their pants creased up in absolute HYSTERICS at the hilarious antics these two wonderful geniuses of comedy. They were so, so funny!
The lady to his left is quite wonderful - she laughs and looks sympathetic when the croupier tries to hit his hand with his croupier stick. Small things ...
Empathetic, not sympathetic. Wink. I also enjoy the camera angles. They use a lot of HIT misses. Hit just enough away where it _looks_ like the person is hit. Camera angles and adjustment...way before Computer Enhancements. You had to be more clever...like here and what the Stooges did.
There are some around. I'm one of them...with friends and people I come across. But you're correct in that...today's comedy is more about profanity, yelling, and mean sarcasm. Not my kind of comedy. I adore these 2 a lot still. Same with The 3 Stooges.
This is a great routine. At 00:21, the lady on the left is Jean Willes. She appeared on several Three Stooges shorts as well as a number of westerns thru the years. She was a really good actress. I do not recognize the lady standing next to her.
Read their biography. Its sad how, after raising millions in war bonds, paying for hospitals etc, they were hounded to death by the IRS. They gambled on everything. When they performed at casinos they were being paid $55,000 a week. The casinos put them in the furthest dressing room from the stage so they had to walk past all the gaming tables knowing full well they couldnt resist. Most weeks they earnt less than they lost.
That's true if the kids stop laughing from this shenanigans they were going through but then they have tax problems because of gambling issues in the 40s and 50s I think that helps split them apart right
Yaaabutt...(hahah), he didn't change it. The skit is funny because HE did not call 35 or say "Let It Ride." at all...it was all part of a conversation. At the end, you can see he wasn't aware of the winnings...which is why he said he wanted is buck back. Costello plays the clueless witty character very well.
I doubt studying would do much good. True comedic ability is something you either have or don't have. It requires creativity and intelligence, two things seriously lacking with most so-called comedians these days.
I love Abbot and Costello's skits. I just hate seeing these type when people gamble then, lose it all. It ALWAYS happens. Why can't someone win for a change? It wouldn't hurt the skit or movie scenario.
This is reminiscent of the Abbott & Costello movie Lost In Alaska (1952),in which Lou had won a bundle of money by chance a few times without trying until he lost when he made a bet and lost after winning a big bundle.
All the comedians today have no class they swear and use dirty jokes. These 2 are the best at clean and classy comedy. Even my kids love to watch them.
I would say yes, the Little Rascals were a comedy troupe put together by Hal Roach, of Laurel & Hardy fame. Early Rascals used the same music soundtrack as Laurel & Hardy. They also shared the same film lot and character actors. All part of the Hal Roach Studios family.
His initial bet was a dollar, and he won 3 times in a row. Roulette gives odds of 36:1 on single-number bets, meaning he was up to $46,656 when he lost it all.
If the scene continues---a fight ensues--Lou burns the place down---and their boss tells them off---some of the funniest moments in this brilliant shows whole run...still funny today
the best part of it .. Lou was not even gambling, he kept answer questions ... how old are you ?? 35 (Let it ride), how many members in the club ? .. 29 (wins again) ... and has no idea how much he won .. until the last bet (LOST IT ALL)
I was just watching a reaction video to their crap game and at the end it flashed their roulette game so i just had to check it out, i've played roulette every day for over 3 years and i.ve made a few dollars, it took me awhile to adopt some sound strategies, if anyone plays tell me what you think of this , a bet on 2nd dozen plus a bet on 3rd dozen plus a cya bet on 0/00/2 , i've got 27 slots to land in and dealer only has 11,
@@MrGooch2706 That scene was first done in an earlier movie where they are in Alaska, but it was done with a different number. Lou stayed on the number, which eventually lost. He had bet $1 originally, and never knew he was winning big. When he finally lost, he thought it was only $1. That movie is here on RUclips in full, but I can't remember the exact name. Alaska is in the title. Update: I just looked it up. The movie is Lost in Alaska. He was asking another man questions, reading from his notepad. Before every question he would read the question number, so the roulette operator was placing his bets on #1, #2, #3, and #4 each time. Lou won the first 3, lost the 4th, never realizing he had been winning big.
My lucky number 7 came in 5 times in a row at Harrah's in A.C. The croupier said it was the 1st time he ever saw the same number 5 times in a row. I had $10 on it the 1st three times, then $15 on it the next 2 times. You can do the math.
We can all think of about a dozen different comedy teams and shows from the early through the mid 20th century, they all make you laugh so hard it hurts, it's really sad what is happening to our Country, we are just moving farther and farther left, socialism just isn't funny, all we need to do is vote in another round of Democrats and it will be the end of our republic. So sad we are voting our Country away. 6/15/2020 President Trump and God save us.
i'm talking of the fact that its on the level of a 7 year old's functions and mindset. and i hate Adam Sandler. his level of intelligence is not far from this.
Two of the greatest comedians
A great find! Thank you for sharing, these.
Two great guys. A hilarious pair
Thanks for posting this great classic episode the story I sooo funny. Thanks again.

@AnotherWacko - Indeed. They weren't as "wimpy" as many from year 2015+.
She is also very beautiful !!!
These two know exactly what my Saturday nights at the casino look like.
I still fall off my chair watching these two experts in comedy. None left today in this society that's for sure.
Wobble wobble wop dance

I pissed myself straight away at the beginning, when lou thought it was checkers. Lol
Denny Law but there’s plenty of “experts” like you, too single minded to look for good comedy from this era

I'm laughing so hard for 60 yrs
Best comedic duo
No! Laurel and Hardy
By far
The chances of 35 four times in a row? Astro-hysterical.
Another funny skit was "The Loafer". Abbott gets a job in a bakery.
These two, Abbott and Costello, are the Kings of Comedy and will make you laugh very much.

"...this is for a bicycle" great writing
This whole episode is amazing, but the latter half (aka this) in particular
Read their biography. Its sad how, after raising millions in war bonds, paying for hospitals etc, they were hounded to death by the IRS. They gambled on everything. When they performed at casinos they were being paid $55,000 a week. The casinos put them in the furthest dressing room from the stage so they had to walk past all the gaming tables knowing full well they couldnt resist. Most weeks they earnt less than they lost.
The beauty to the left of Bud Abbott is Actress Jean Willes who appeared alongside of The Three Stooges and Abbot and Costello
I laughed very hard at that checkers movement.
10 cents 😂!
I feel like these two comedians were trying to teach the kids that you shouldn’t gamble. Every skit where they gamble they get screwed 😂
That's true if the kids stop laughing from this shenanigans they were going through but then they have tax problems because of gambling issues in the 40s and 50s I think that helps split them apart right
He was at $466,560 and could have had $16,796,160 if he stayed at 35.

@@biblebadcopycatofcuneiform8210 Oh, is THAT what happened?
On a $1 bet he was at $46,656 and would have won $1,679,616 if he let it ride once more. Your math is for a $10 bet.

If the guy asked him how old he was 6 years ago and he answered "29" he would have won that spin too! ,
Lou burned down the casino after. No lie.
The croupier looks like Slim Whitman.
This is reminiscent of the Abbott & Costello movie Lost In Alaska (1952),in which Lou had won a bundle of money by chance a few times without trying until he lost when he made a bet and lost after winning a big bundle.
Yeah, there are formulas you can see between different kinds of skits. Sometimes it's only the scenes that change.
That ending was better
Beautiful classy women. No tattoos, no piercings just pure elegance. Pretty close to zero of that now.

If the same number comes up four times in a row, there’s something fishy going on.
Not impossible, but insanely improbable.
Does anyone think that wheel was rigged. It landed on thirty-five 4 times in a row.
How dare you suggest that this game was rigged! Why, it was at least as level as the W.C. Fields poker match!
