- The hood release cable commonly breaks apart due to rust, or gets tough to pull.
Volvo Truck Part Number: 82601061
The hood cable is routed from the engine bay through the inside compartment of the truck.
You can check it's operation by pulling the lever and watching the hood latch release mechanism. If you can't open up your hood, then a broken cable can be the problem.
Common Failures:
Rusted Cable, can't pull hood latch
Broken Hood Cable
Adjustment Bolt/Nut is broken, (can't adjust)

Hey OTR can yall do a video on replacing the work station table cable and handle? Mine broke and i really miss using my work station volvo wants 400.00 in labor to replace and to me thats way to high.
does anyone know if OTR made a video how to open your hood latch with a broken hood cable?
Yeah they show how to put the easy side which is driver side but passenger side looks way more complicated and they don't have a video of that side.
About the same. You have to remove the air cleaner and mount for cable routing.
5 minute video, mack pays 5 hrs, I still haven't gotten both the old ones out .. I finally cut the drivers side from the engine bay and pulled the rest thru. Conical (old) is still stuck in firewall. At least I can touch both sides now the doghouse is out but CHRIST. I will never volunteer for the "super simple" job ever again....Yes, it is super simple ; In concept! I hate volvo interiors. Next one is getting 2 shiny new 1/4 holes in his firewall and some rubber grommets ; the end

just a thought but, if the cable is broken, requiring replacement, shouldn't the procedure start with how to release the latch when the cable is broken. Might help in replacing the cable is you could get to the engine compartment.
Reach through the wheel well, pull down on wheel well plastic and you can see your latch. Push back on release lever and push up. If your hood is tweaked at all have fun. What i wanna see if the passenger side replacement... air box and hvac intake removal.
Step one dismantle cabin from engin. Step two rip the floor of oppression out. Step three lite truck on fire and walk sway.....
That's more my style.I just shoved a greasy one through I ripped off my kids bike

Here a good example why Volvo is the most unfriendly truck ever..
This is a commercial vehicle and this repairs cost a lot on down time and labor
The hood doesn’t need this complicated latch..
If I was a dictator I will force the engineers who design this crap to work on shop for a year
