  • Had to re upload due to a title error (I listed this as a 780 instead of an 860) that someone caught that slipped passed me while trying to get the video up. So big thanks for that! The older Volvos you see me working on are the 780's and the newer ones that I have are the 860 (this one "globetrotter" edition) or the other ones which are the 760.
Main reason I point this out is the older ones you can access the release without having to pull the splash guard. Either way the premise is the same as its still a pain when it would of took all of 10 minutes to install actual release latches.
Thanks again for anyone watching and for subscribing

It’s way simpler than that to release the good manual. All you have to do is use a long screw driver or pry bar and reach inside the hood from the gap in the hood and firewall. Simply push the lever that the cable is attached to in and it will release the hood. Be sure to use a rag to protect the paint on your hood when doing this.

This video was so helpful! Following along we were able to release the hood from outside.

I immediately clicked on the video and dropped the light just for the simple fact that the answer is literally in the thumbnail. I was like "Oh! " Let me at least drop a like and let the video run a few seconds so he gets his credit lol

How much did it cost to replace the latch. I just broke mine. I also tried to unlatch the hood by hands but the passenger side is very stubborn. It won’t move at all. Any suggestion??

I could feel how cheap it was the first time I used it. Auto manufacturing is mostly a scam like this it feels.

I like the interior latch control, despite its possible failure. There is less chance of someone tampering with your engine compartment.

You don’t need to unscrew anything. Just push a crowbar in between hood and cover. Done it plenty of times.

You are definitely over thinking it. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE ANYTHING.

I have two of these POS with same problem happening over and over even after having them replaced several times already. Anybody interested in a class-action lawsuit against Volvo???
