    Hello & Welcome!
    I just purchased a new rifle - the Remington 783 (w/scope) and I’m anxious to try it out. That sale was perfectly timed, just before gun season and I can’t wait to get up north.
    Join me today and I’ll share my thoughts on this beauty with you. We’ll also head to the range where I’ll show my process for siting it in.
    Feel free to add any useful tips/info about the Remington 783 in the comments.
    Until next time, take care & God bless.
    The Handy Outdoorsman

    Don’t say you have weapons. Cause the department of justice will come and pick up every gun N rifle u own. Remember A gun and Rifle is not a weapon until you use it as a weapon. A weapon is any object that you use to cause harm to a person place or thing.

    I had the complete opposite results with between Core-Lokt & Winchester ammo. I slapped on a Leupold VX-2 3-9x40 scope on my Remington 783 in .270 and sighted it in at 25 yards. By the time I walked away from that range, I had my bullet holes touching with Remington ammo. 20 hours later, I put my first buck on that gun at 65 yards. Perfect shot placement.
    I ran out of ammo so my buddy picked up some Winchester brand for me. I had 2 out of 2 misfires (and lost a buck and a doe on the same day). I can't tell you how many curses I invented that day. Went back to Remington in .270 and the first 5 shots out of the gun hit everything I aimed it at @ 100 yards (pop cans & bottles).
    Took it out on another hunt and the first doe I had a shot at happened to be at 100 yards and I dropped her right there with perfect shot placement. My gun loves Core-Lokt.

    I bought one in 30-06 in September for $280. When I first bought it I sighted it in at 💯 yards 2" high. I then shot steel targets at 220, 330, 440, and 600 yards. I shot a coyote at 5 yards in October and a whitetail buck at 262 yards in November. I absolutely love this rifle. The only 2 things I did was put a Nikon Prostaff scope with a 4" sunshade on it, and I adjusted the trigger down to 2.5lbs.

      That is encouraging to hear, the furthest place I have to shoot out to is just under 200 yards. I have not decided on a replacement scope yet, Heard great things about the Nikon Prostaff, I have two Leopolds from other weapons that I might use.

      Purchased a 783 in .300 Win mag. Advertised at factory bore sighted. Out of the box my gun shot 2 feet low at 40 yards?? Also, the factory scope has a very short eye relief of about 2 inches! Way to short and dangerous!! I avoided major eye damage due to familiary with heavey recoil weapon. Anyone with less or no prior experience will end up in the hospital with major damage, if not blindness!!! Am going to ask Remington to provide a proper scope with a 4" eye relief.

    I have two 783's with 16.5 " Heavy Threaded Barrels, in .308 & .223 they both shoot sub MOA groups out of the box, I upgraded the stock to the Boyds AT-ONE and they both are keepers.

    I’m a long time firearms owner but it was only recently that I decided to get a bolt action, something with some reach. So I picked up the 783, didn’t want to spend to much money incase I decided this part of the sport wasn’t for me. I’m here to tell you that thing shoots great for me. I dropped it a boyds stock and put a magpul bipod on it. Haven’t got to try it at more than 100yds but it’s a winner as far as I can tell.

    • @thehandyoutdoorsman9014
      @thehandyoutdoorsman9014  5 лет назад

      Hey Shawn, can respect that!! Heard good things about the Boyd’s stocks, what caliber did you go with?

    • @shawnsmith4279
      @shawnsmith4279 5 лет назад

      .308 mostly because the indoor range that I go to doesn’t allow anything bigger and that’s where I would go to try out the new stock and bipod before I made the drive to the outdoor range. Also that’s the one they had in stock when I bought it. Also I’ve been thinking about picking up an ar-10 or fal type rifle so the round compatibility is a big plus.

    Thanks for the video 👍💥😁 I came across something yesterday called a deresonator made by limbsaver. It's a rubber ring that slips onto the barrel and deadens vibration. It shrinks your groups of positioned just at the right spot on the barrel. But you are going to have to shoot a few 3 shot groups to determine exactly where the groups shrink best and that's the place on the barrel where the rubber ring should stay

    I bought a .243 a year ago.Really like the gun. At first i thought i made a big mistake was not paying attention did not realize that compact ment youth model. But it comes with shims to adjust lop.Did not take much out of box to have less then 1 inch group.

      @@thehandyoutdoorsman9014 I like my 783's and they are my primary hunting rifles for Deer, Hog's , Coyotes. as well punching Iron targets out to 1000 yards.I have the ATN X-sight 4K pro 5-20X Day / Nightvision on the .308 .And a Primary Arms 4x14x44 dmr scope on the .223 . If I only could have one rifle I would pick the 783 because they are very accurate at a minimum price.

    Curious if your still using that scope that came on the 783 ? Your lucky you got any kind of group with the included scope. Mine would not hold a zero at all and was a horrible piece of garbage. I suspect that when you went back to the range your POI had changed ? The 783 it's self is a great gun and value for the money even with the junk scope. I slapped a Nikon 3x9x40 with a 4" shade on mine and the rifle really shined and shoots as well or better then a $1000.00 gun. For me a gun is a tool and not a piece of fine art and the 783 does the job really well

      The 700 is a great deer rifle, a big step up from the 783. Check your local sportsman club, they may have a class or two during the deer season on how to field dress an animal. There also some good videos out on RUclips.

    You should not be touching the barrel with the left hand. Your are interfering with the harmonics of the barrel. I have one of these in.243 and it will drive tacks.

    • @thehandyoutdoorsman9014
      @thehandyoutdoorsman9014  5 лет назад

      I have always shot this way when shooting off of sand bags, have not seen much difference when I go to shoot freehand with the grouping. I have a much tighter grouping now that I have gotten use to the rifle and scope. Thanks for commenting !

    • @fasteddie1360
      @fasteddie1360 4 года назад

      Ermine - I that is done consistently there will be no change in the harmonics. If he puts on a glove or pulls down real hard, things will change. However, it is better to 'pull down' on the fore end rather than on the barrel.

      Derek, that is a valid question. I am not pressing down hard or modifying the projector of the bullet in any way. I should have adjusted my position on the sand bags to hold it underneath., was my first time firing the rifle and was trying to get use to it.
