  • 3rd video on swaying ghosts prop build. You will see that it is now much different in design than the Johnny's Ghost prop. I needed to change to 3 poles for support due to the added weight of the arms and large skull. This design will not work using just one pole. Even if you anchor down the motor - the prop sways so much to the side that the motor stops and can't pull it back. So if you are thinking of something like this you will need the 3 poles. Again its 13 feet high so there is a lot of leverage.
My design for using the motor to move multiple things still works for this. The motor is providing the swaying but also with the pully system, it's moving both arms up and down. One thing I forgot to mention in the video - having the arms alternate between up and down perfectly balances the pull on the motor. This is the same idea I use on all the other props where one motor is moving multiple things - try to get them to move different directions so the weight of one helps lift another.
I'll post the last video closer to Halloween when I have it fully finished.

WOW - just looked up the towering reaper since I didn't know what it was. You are right!!! I believe they are using the same skull face that I found online. As I said mine measures out just above thirteen feet so taller plus it looks like mine is wider - mines at 36". I'll make sure and post a video to show the swaying plus hand movement. I'd be interested in what type of motor they use - I'm using the wiper motor which are super durable - no plastic gears like the reindeer motors. Regarding cost - I see theirs retails at $250. I figure with my wiper motor, the controller, mask, PVC pipe and fabric - I'm right around $90. But more importantly - I made it - which this is all about. Thanks for the comment.

I doubt they use a wiper motor, but it's probably a bigger motor than the ones used in most life-size props.

It's huge! And I'm pretty sure it will look nice at night. Don't forget to post a video when it's done and how it looks at night. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Good question - I've finished the top half of it and I'll post a video showing how I did it.
