What do I do with the blue cable? Will the amp turn off on its own with I turn off the car? I’m a bit concerned. Thanks in advance 🙏
I’m guessing the blue you’re talking about would be your remote wire… You will need to connect that wire to the remote blue wire coming from your head unit or to an accessories like your cig lighter.

Any help be appreciated, but i recently installed the same kicker setup. Bought the rca to wire splitter. Amp turns on but no bass. Everything is plugged in and wired up correctly but no sound. What can i do?
What kind of head unit do you have? Does your head unit have a built in amplifier? (Is it powered?). If your head unit has a built in amp to power speakers, the kicker amp will clip and cut off the signal hence no bass. Here are a couple of troubleshooting hints: 1. I have a 2022 gmc Sierra. All the installs I found online say to use Line out converter with the stock head unit. Would I still need that LOC with this unit?
@@cmatin01 no because the output of power is going to the subwoofer speaker. Your stock speakers will feed off the power of the head unit. It depends on what your connections will be…high or low gain.
Dash board speakers are stock, but I will be upgrading soon! The door speakers are kicker 6 1/2’s. My head unit has a built in amp that only pushes about 25 watts rms per speaker. I will be adding an amp for the front and rear door speakers in the future🤙🏼
I juat purchased this amp and sub combo. Did not realize that i would need the rca to speaker wire adapter can i just tie into the correct colored wires behind the head unit ? Or do i need a adapter for the wires
You can go direct as you’re suggesting, just be sure to choose the High input settings on the amp. The instructions tell you how to wire it that way…. The only time you will need an RCA Jack is when your head unit has female RCA outputs for a clean signal. If you head unit has a built in amp more than 20 watts per channel, then you will experience the kicker amp clipping. If you’re not in a rush to install it, get The RCA adapters…
@@hawaiianbrokechanic I have rca cables already back under the seat ready for a regular amp and sub setup. Could I just cut the ends off the rca wires ? Or would you recommend waiting for an adapter?
Is it the black headphone jack looking cable that plugs into the bass nob? & if I'm just splicing into my factory speakers do I have to run the blue remote wire?
The Bass knob does connect to the jack located on the amplifier panel. If you are splicing into your wires, you don’t need to connect blue remote wire. This set up is the High Level Input (taping in to existing wires). The amplifier will sense a signal coming from your head unit and turn on the amplifier. NOTE: Make sure you set the “Auto Turn On” switch to “DC” and “Input Level” to “HI”…. I hope this helps! That’s for checking out the video and don’t forget to Like & Subscribe 🤙🏼
I got mine installed yesterday with someone that knows what to do but it sounds bad. I got the controller installed and everything and it starts sounding nice, but as soon as i play with the remote it stops sounding as good. I don't know if it's not getting enough power or if it's not properly equalized. But the bass sounds either super strong or doesn't sound at all. I have no idea what to do and it sucks cause I've heard good things about those bass.
There are a couple of reason why your experiencing those issues. First-the most common is that your head unit has a built in amp that pumps out wattage above 20 watts or above per channel. The built in amp on the subwoofer cannot process too much watts going in, therefore causing the speaker cutting out or resulting in too much bass. The fix is to use you RCA outputs from you head unit into the subwoofer box giving a low level signal into the amp. If you don’t have RCA Jacks in the back of your head unit then you will need a line level converter to lessen the signal. You then would tap in existing speaker outputs wires from your head unit. Second-improper wiring. Many cases it’s poor ground or wiring line level converter wrong. You will need to adjust your EQ TO LOWER BASS TO ZERO (on the head unit), set your bass knob for subwoofer to the lowest setting. Play your music then raise the volume before music distorts, back off the head unit volume, then adjust your bass knob for more low end. The level knob on the subwoofer box should be set to 9 o’clock you can adjust up to 12 o’clock (don’t max it out). The frequency knob should be sitting at 12 o’clock to start, the higher the frequency the better. These speakers will not give you the ball busting lows. You will get more of a punchy mid bass tone. What I’ve suggested is a good place to start. Keep me posted!
I have a convertible mustang i plan to put this in the backseat but i want to add a decent amount of bass that will be plenty noticeable and if this will do good?
With the top down you will loose bottom end. Full transparency, the sub sounds better in an enclosed environment. You will get some low end, but it all depends on what crossover frequencies you tune to and your EQ settings…
@@hawaiianbrokechanic yes thanks! last question please for the striped black wires (grey and white with black stripes) on the sub did u connect these with the same grey and white black striped wires on the speaker line to rca adapter?
@@randomdude6240 so what’s important is speaker wires with a stripe (example: white with a black or gray stripe) signifies a negative current. So, as long as these are speaker connections, you will want to connect them to the wires that are also striped on the RCA adapter. This insures proper polarity. If you have an RCA adapter, refer to the instructions to make sure you’re making the proper connections!
Does the light stay red when the volume is all the way down? If so, you’ve got way too much watts going into the amp. Make sure all your gains are set to flat on the head unit EQ and the amplifier gain is set to the lowest setting… start by increasing volume on you head unit until it clips then back off a little. From there you can increase the gain on the amp…. Too much bass into the amp will also cause clipping and the amp will go into protection mode… I hope this helps!
@@hawaiianbrokechanic yes that is helpful. Now my light is blue, but I’m not getting any sound and I tried multiple different ways to connect the speaker wires to the head unit.
@@rileybattis8754 how do you have the speaker wires connected to the amplifier? Did you use a RCA adapter or spliced wires together? Make sure you got the amplifier switches turned on to the right settings.
If you have a stock head unit, your only option is to tap in to the speaker outputs (wires going into your stock speakers). Be sure to set up amplifier settings to HI-input (follow instructions for this set up). If you have an aftermarket head unit with RCA outputs, you will need the rca adapters mentioned in this video to connect to the speakers amp. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking out the video and don’t forget to subscribe 🤙🏼
@@freddy78bass okay…so if the amp isn’t turning on then there’s probably an issue with the remote wire connection. To test this, you can take the blue wire and touch it with your positive lead and the amp should turn on…just make sure all your gains are turned off…. If the amp turns on, then you can hook up the blue remote wire to an accessory like your cig lighter (+ wire) that turns on when you turn the ignition on. Make sure the switch’s on amp is set to 12V and Lo input… Let me know if this helps!
I would check the blue remote wire connection. What you can do is connect the blue remote wire from speaker wire harness to the positive wire coming from your car battery. If the amp in the box turns on the amp, then it’s the blue remote connection. I would start there…. If that’s the issue, you will need to tap into the an ignition powered accessory like the lighter receptacle. If it’s not the issue, check your positive wire connection and ground. Bad ground is usually the culprit…l hope this helps!
I used (12 gauge stranded) 16 ft of primary red and 16 ft of black ground/negative. You can buys spools of of wire from any automotive store or Walmart.
@@rayben3972 oh okay…so depending on what kind of vehicle you drive, the positive and negative wires are roughly 10 ft in length. You may need extra wire to lengthen the connection. I hope this helps!
@@332ARA the wire harness that comes with the subwoofer comes with 14 gauge wires. 12 gauge is a tad bit larger. So I tried to master the diameter of the wires throughout the install. With that said, if you are installing a stand alone amplifier, the size of the primary wire will depend on how much watts you will be pushing. Thats usually the case when you try to record it...it usually never comes out... You can make out the difference if you use good headphones earbuds. I guess you'll have to take my word for it that it does sound pretty good for a small sub box. Full transparency, if you're looking for loud and low thumping competition type bass, you're not going to get it out of this speaker. But if you are looking to add noticeable bottom end in your current stereo system, then this is a good solution. In the cab, you can definitely hear and feel the difference without advertising to would be thieves...lol
@@unknownplayer6398 It all depends if your jeep has a hard/soft top. If your jeep just has a bimini top then NO, you will not feet it. You will hear the sound but not feel it. Like I said in my video, don't expect super loud booming bass. It will add a fuller sound with noticeable bottom to your current system. I hope this helps!
@@unknownplayer6398 what matters is RMS. You will need to match the amplifier output to those speakers. RMS is defined as: Root mean square or simply RMS watts refers to . RMS values are usually lower than peak watts ratings, but they represent what a unit is truly capable of handling. You will need an amplifier that has an output of 250 watts or greater to get the most out of the speaker. More watts RMS is much better then less. So if you are going to run two speakers, then you need to make sure your amp has double the watts in RMS. The 800 watts rating is more than likely a max watts that speaker can handle (unless it states 800 watts RMS). I hope this helps!
Hello! Yes, I have 2021 silver, non-Bose and the speaker wires are white& blue/black in passenger. I wanna do 2 of these can I just split and either do a PAC high/low to the speaker wires or just straight into those wires?
@@dylanbushre2681 so you want to connect two PT250’s to just one wire source? It all depends on how many watts you Bose systems sends out. If your head unit has an internal amp that puts outs out 20 watts per channel, you will experience major clipping, distortion and bogging, that’s why you would use a PAC to reduce the signal. Set switches to DC and HI input…(meaning you are not using your blue remote wire). The head unit output speaker wires are connected to the input wires to the amp. NOTE: the output wires from your head unit cannot be connect to any other speaker. I’m other words, if you have rear speakers and you tap into them, you need to disconnect the rear speakers so the amp can sense a signal… feel free to ask any other questions!

If you’re not in a rush to install it, get
The RCA adapters…
@@hawaiianbrokechanic I have rca cables already back under the seat ready for a regular amp and sub setup. Could I just cut the ends off the rca wires ? Or would you recommend waiting for an adapter?
@@jaywickham6090 if you have spare RCA jacks to use…then yeah, you can cut and splice.
You made my installation so much easier thank you
Thank you! It’s comments like yours that keep me motivated to put out more content! Mahalo and keep brokechanic-ing 🤙🏼
Thank you.
@@hawaiianbrokechanic thanks for the info i really appreciate it👍👍
For the blue remote wire that came with it, it’s too short… can I extend with 18 gauge wire or what kind of wire?
Yes! The remote wire does nothing more than provide a small current to turn on the amplifier. I hope this helps!
What are the measurements of the box in this setup?
I can’t get the sub to turn blue. It stays red. Any ideas?
@@hawaiianbrokechanic I also have an aftermarket head unit that takes rca
How do you hook up the wire from the radio tho?
If you have a stock head unit, your only option is to tap in to the speaker outputs (wires going into your stock speakers). Be sure to set up amplifier settings to HI-input (follow instructions for this set up). If you have an aftermarket head unit with RCA outputs, you will need the rca adapters mentioned in this video to connect to the speakers amp. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking out the video and don’t forget to subscribe 🤙🏼
Ive tried to get it to turn on and it wont idk what i messed up
How do you have it hooked up from the head unit? RCA Jack to speaker or speaker output from head unit to speaker?
@@hawaiianbrokechanic the way you did it
But idk if i messed up a canle
@@freddy78bass okay…so if the amp isn’t turning on then there’s probably an issue with the remote wire connection. To test this, you can take the blue wire and touch it with your positive lead and the amp should turn on…just make sure all your gains are turned off…. If the amp turns on, then you can hook up the blue remote wire to an accessory like your cig lighter (+ wire) that turns on when you turn the ignition on. Make sure the switch’s on amp is set to 12V and Lo input… Let me know if this helps!
hey i have mine connected to everything and I'm not even getting power
I would check the blue remote wire connection. What you can do is connect the blue remote wire from speaker wire harness to the positive wire coming from your car battery. If the amp in the box turns on the amp, then it’s the blue remote connection. I would start there…. If that’s the issue, you will need to tap into the an ignition powered accessory like the lighter receptacle. If it’s not the issue, check your positive wire connection and ground. Bad ground is usually the culprit…l hope this helps!
How long are the wires?
I used (12 gauge stranded) 16 ft of primary red and 16 ft of black ground/negative. You can buys spools of of wire from any automotive store or Walmart.
@@hawaiianbrokechanic okay I was asking how long the wires are that came with the sub
@@rayben3972 oh okay…so depending on what kind of vehicle you drive, the positive and negative wires are roughly 10 ft in length. You may need extra wire to lengthen the connection. I hope this helps!
@@hawaiianbrokechanic So you used 12 gauge from the battery? I thought power to subs need to be thick
Here’s a link with more info:

Im picking one up tomorrow for $100.
Hopefully it smacks in my car.

With a 7.5 amp no real power here.
The mic can't pick up the bass.
If you have a hard/soft then yes...the sound will resonate much better and you will feel it. I would suggest setting the crossover more towards 100hz for punchy bass. Like I said in my video, don't expect super loud booming bass. It will add a fuller sound with noticeable bottom to your current system. I hope this helps!
@@unknownplayer6398 what matters is RMS. You will need to match the amplifier output to those speakers. Example: 10" speaker has a rating of 50 to 250 watts RMS (Rockford R2d2-10: Click this link to view specs:
www.crutchfield.com/S-NXEaQao6hnE/p_575R2D210/Rockford-Fosgate-R2D2-10.html?XVINQ=DST&XVVER=2M7&awcr=386393273913&awdv=c&awkw=&awmt=&awnw=g&awug=9030017&gclid=CjwKCAjwp7eUBhBeEiwAZbHwkXiQ9bCQFRsSfpaVlyIh2Ppug11Ey9xY79i_2TpwjVNj8_FCF0-6ZhoCz6UQAvD_BwE.
Why not just wire tap?
Aloha! Can you be more specific about using a wire tap…. I can only guess you’re referring to tapping into speaker lines?
Technically you can go direct, but you will either loose signal so the subwoofer amp won’t turn on or you’ll get clipping….
@@hawaiianbrokechanic so it’s Non-Bose, and no amp that I know of it’s a Custom with base audio and factory head unit
@@hawaiianbrokechanic what I could do, is take one to the passenger side and the other to the driver side for the signal wires

Hey there, I’ve installed a pt250 in my truck, I didn’t connect to an rca cable I went straight to speaker wires. Whenever I turn on the truck it powers on but it won’t play when the bass comes. I switched the power to an 8 gauge wire. I also didn’t connect the power wire bc the speaker wires would pick up the signal and turn it on, any suggestions?

Set switches to DC and HI input…(meaning you are not using your blue remote wire). The head unit output speaker wires are connected to the input wires to the amp. NOTE: the output wires from your head unit cannot be connect to any other speaker. I’m other words, if you have rear speakers and you tap into them, you need to disconnect the rear speakers so the amp can sense a signal… feel free to ask any other questions!
Another note: if your head unit has a built in amp (head unit puts out 20 watts or more) the sub will clip and go into protect mode. You will need to back off on the bass EQ on your head unit. The way to fix this is to purchase a line leveler to reduce the signal…
@@hawaiianbrokechanic hey so I just read this reply which answers my initial question. However, now my next questions would be, 1. Do I need to tap into both rear speaker or can I just tap into one? 2. You said to disconnect the rear speakers one I tap into them?
@@MarkMiewords7 yes you connect to the wires that connect to your speakers. AND NO you can’t connect both speaker inputs coming from the powered sub to just one of the channels coming from your head unit. The sub speaker inputs need to be connected to its own channel (example-left speaker coming from head units needs to attach to sub amp left speaker input and right to right). I hope I didn’t confuse you🤣
