Phil Lynott :ROCK STAR the first real irish rocker he played up the road in Cork in the early 70s the graffitti was everywhere about the band all of Ireland is proud of him and always will be
Happy days. I was in this audience, REALLY! 28th January 1983, The Tube TV show. My Dad worked at Tyne Tees TV and got me backstage passes. Met Phil and the guys, absolute legend!!
On every song live and recorded song Phils' voice is absolutely flawless. There is little or no difference between the live vocals and the studio...amazing!! and rare.
thin lizzy was great, remember that gary moore was part of the band for a while. best irish band ever...incredible guitars, never heard anything like this still to this day...
"Hats off" !!! A brilliant band,sound+song !!! Such,one can't find nowadays !!! Although,some "younger" people,can't "understand" -- THIS IS MUSIC !!! Thank u very much for sharing !!!
De retour de Dublin, Phil est encore présent dans les mémoires et les coeurs..."The boys are back in town" est tout ce que j'aime dans le rock !!! thanx for sharing
Brings back good memories. I was about 6yr old at the time. Long hot summers in the park, with friends playing football until late... :-) If I had a time machine I'd go back for a week
It's John Sykes. Thunder and Lightning from 1983 is the only Thin Lizzy Album he played on, well he also sung on the renunion album "One Night Only". He also has an respectable solo-career.
Hey, if you like Phil and Lizzy's music, go to the exibition in Dublin! I've been there during my holidays and I nearly cried when I left it, I learned so much about that wonderful band!!! RIP Phil, long live rock!
Undoubted one of the greatest rock bands of all time. My favourite lineup was with Brian Robertson on guitar, though all the players were great. RIP Phil Lynott & Gary Moore.
One of the best rock songs ever written. It's so beautirul you can even play it with an acoustic in a slow version and it works. Thes guys were fuckin' brilliant. Hey Phil, RIP, and thanks for the wonderful opening you did for Hawkwind at the Empire in Liverpool back in around '71.
I think its his tone. I never saw him live. But if you watch the Emerald video--man that proves just how great a bass player/performer he was. The whole band was great regardless of which guitar player was there. I love the Gorham/Robertson lineup, myself.
Out of all Thin Lizzy's recorded songs this one is definitely the best one. Thanks for posting. We're doing this cover and it gives you such a rush playing it!
coming back from Vegas to California we played this song when we got back in town. bad ass band. way before my generation but has way more of my respect then today music
@@matthew4694 well, that is a well known (admittedly not particularly original, or edifying) figure of speech I apparently chose 9 years ago to express respect for a band that did not seem to me to be held at the same level of esteem by my peers, as I hold them. In short, an opinion, based on my experience. If I have offended you by some percieved slight to Thin Lizzy, I offer my apologies, as that was the opposite of my intent. If , on the other hand, I have merely activated your troll switch, I offer you another well worn cliche......get a life.
The best use of parallel thirds popular music has ever had. Every other hair metal lead guitar melody can be traced back to the guitar parts on this song.
Thin Lizzy "Live and Dangerous" is widely known as one of the greatest Live Rock Albums in recording history. Throughout there time together as a band performing live, they were known as the band who put on one of the greatest shows in all of Rock and Roll. I don't know if you play guitar or what bands that you like, but your comment seems to be rather green with envy to me.
Saw them Live in Springfield Massachusetts during the Jailbreak tour when they opened for Queen. The Blew The Crowd Away. After seeing Thin Lizzy, Queen was nothing! At least not that night!
excellent perfomance here from thin lizzy. this is great. but i wish they where still together today r.i.p. phil you'll always be in out hearts and our spirits not just with your music but with who you are, you are a rocker.
Thin Lizzy have a very wide range of tunes, personally I would recommend:cold sweat, hollywood, killer on the loose, waiting for an alibi, dancing in the moonlight, bad reputation, suicide, fighting my way back,emerald,johnny......In no particular order,I could go on,hope you enjoy. One of my biggest regrets in life is that I never saw them live.
I remember back in the 1970s, polls of fans and people working in the music field were asked what rock band gives the best performance playing live on stage? Who got the most votes, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Who,... ? It was actually Thin Lizzy who came out on top. Always known as being one of the very best live rock bands.

There is nothing like a genuine classic delivered by the person who wrote it....xx
I positively loved this band...not to mention I had a major crush on Phil!!! RIP, Phil....I love u man. They don't make music like this anymore. G
PHIL LYNOTT = A STAR ON EARTH & NOW A STAR IN HEAVEN - NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN!

Hey, if you like Phil and Lizzy's music, go to the exibition in Dublin! I've been there during my holidays and I nearly cried when I left it, I learned so much about that wonderful band!!! RIP Phil, long live rock!
i wish i had to grow up with this music way better then music on the radio these days
Warm crunchy guitars, thick chunky bass...This is the kind of tone every rock musician should strive for.
It's very difficult to play a bass guitar and sing a song at the same time. Phil is a genius!
That’ll be your little secret 🤣
Yep. The only other guy that can do it is Geddy Lee. Only he plays keyboards at the same time too...... ruclips.net/video/1nvNmNoFIa8/видео.html
He plays well and sings. Not easy
Urban myth - it isn't if the vocal and bass melodies are similar
Yeah'....I think Geddy Lee would say that, huh?
The best thin lizzy performanse ever seen it when i was 13 now 43 still gives me goose bumps
Undoubted one of the greatest rock bands of all time.
My favourite lineup was with Brian Robertson on guitar, though all the players were great.
RIP Phil Lynott & Gary Moore.
PHILO WAS ONE OF THE TRUE ROCKERS EVER LIVED
I REALLY MISS HIM R.I.P
LUV YA ALWAYS....

One of the most under-rated bands of all time - Thin Lizzy!!!
Happy 69th Scott, Thanks for the music.

The quality of this vid is killer. Thanks!
I remember when you could TOUCH your heroes!! .. Great stuff.
Out of all Thin Lizzy's recorded songs this one is definitely the best one. Thanks for posting. We're doing this cover and it gives you such a rush playing it!

I'm sad I wasn't born while Phil was alive to hear them live, I wish I was... :-(
coming back from Vegas to California we played this song when we got back in town. bad ass band. way before my generation but has way more of my respect then today music
I get the chills everytime I hear that harmony solo 3:25
One of the most underrated bands of all time.
What and where are these ratings of which you speak?

@@treezrok Well said, John. They are indeed under-appreciated.
"Under-appreciated " would indeed have encapsulated my my feelings on the matter more precisely. Have a wonderful day sir!
These boys rock, RIP Phil, gone but not forgotten
Classic rock the way it's played. Thank you for the post.
The best use of parallel thirds popular music has ever had. Every other hair metal lead guitar melody can be traced back to the guitar parts on this song.
I'm so happy that this is one of those rock songs about love or a girl, unlike the ones these days .
