Thin Lizzy - The Boys Are Back In Town (live Sydney Opera with Gary Moore) DVD Picture dubbed with the original Stereo Sound - this is the only video from this concert in "REAL" Stereo. The DVD is mono - but I got my hands on stereo songs of this show and dubbed picture and
Makes ya Ed Sheeran etc look a yawn !
Sherran was one of their lead guitarists?
Spot on pal😆
Ha ha!
For people who know - they know. But this is one of the more underrated bands in music history. Truly amazing front man and lineup. Superb lyricist and songwriter. Just some of the best R&R to come out of the seventies. RIP Phil and Gary.
Oh f**k , stop it with the underrated. How were they underrated? This is a clip of them playing in Australia on the other side of the world, they were world famous throughout the 70s and early 80s with countless hit singles and albums. Underrated my arse.
No Truer Words Ever Spoken
Phil never gets credit for having one of the better voices in rock. Wasnt a screamer, but his tone was pleasant to listen to. RIP Gary. Hey Scott, stick around for a long while. You are a very humble man.
Gary was also a hugely underrated singer
Phil is thr greatest front man ever
One of the best vocalists and bassist ever. Every time I hear this song I get sad that They are not around these days!!1
Phil was a totally charismatic frontman, tough & tender enough in equal measure to appeal to both sexes. His voice effortlessly exuded soul & machismo, so no screaming was necessary (NB Axl Rose, Dave Grohl & assorted throatshredders)
Love Phil Lynott; what a fantastic bassist and singer…Omg what a great frontman!
What a brilliant performace by Thin Lizzy RIP Phil and Gary
Wow. An absolute jaw dropping gem of a performance. The band was truly on fire that evening. They sound so tight, rock and groove so hard, and yet it all sounds effortlessly smooth. Love THIS!
Affirmative classic performance many memories
He died too soon. I just read a story where he got turned down to perform on Life Aid cause they felt he was too F'd up. II he was givven a chance, He could have given an performance as close to what Queen did on tht day.
This video is exactly how they should be remembered. Phil's passing was tragic and hard to imagine and didn't represent his real character. This DOES! So let's all picture this when we hear the words Thin Lizzy.
What's so tragic? He was a junkie and he shot lots of heroin. It's expected that someone's gonna die doing this kind of intravenous drug use. Tragic would have been if he was clean living and some alley thug stabbed him to death with a knife.
Como se escolhesse. Vsf
@@Martin-iv6lq All people suffering from the disease of and stigma of addiction is a total tragedy.
@@Martin-iv6lqDamn man....his absentee mother Philomena Lynott, was total garbage for ditching her kids. Sadly, Men fall short as Fathers often. But a woman. Damn that's just absolutely shameful & unnatural 😢
Man gtfoh with that garbage. You have no idea what a woman raising a black bastard son in the early 1950s in Ireland & England had to go through. I’ll bet you didn’t know that she had to give up two more kids for adoption and had a ridiculously hard life as a young single woman. Obviously she could have maybe had less sex but you try having less sex and seeing how much you enjoy life, regardless you dont have authentic right to judge amyone.@@TheOpenSociety777 people have a lot of hate for interracial relationships still to this day. She did the best she could for her son and went on to have a great relationship with him so you literally don’t know what you’re talking. She wrote a book try reading it genius.
Rest in peace Phil. When you reincarnate the whole world will welcome you back.
Those cats are crazy !!!!!.....this was a big hit when I was 13 back in 76.....those were the good old days !!!!!!!!
Totally the good old days
No other band can recapture the sound of thinn Lizzy, and no one ever will. A unique band only for one go.... And brother they went!!!!!
You are right they don't make bands like this anymore
Killer hooks, grooves and double lead guitars to boot. I often wonder what Phil and Scott could've accomplished had they not fallen under the black cloud of addiction.
These guys could out rock most bands around at the time, frighteningly good, their music is still superb, hence why so many Hollywood films still use it
You are also seeing and hearing the most expensive guitar in history here-that's "Greenie", Gary Moore's Gibson Les Paul, which is now owned by Metatlica's Kirk Hammet.
It had belonged to Peter Green, Fleetwood Mac's original guitar player. 2.1 million dollars, if I remember correctly.
Just look at these guys work! Thats f'n hard. That's tight as hell! They are completely giving the fans everything they have. Emptying the tank's, and loving every second of it!❤️
That dang Phil was whipping that bass! Never got enough credit for that! My man!
Man we use to fall all over the place. How i miss those days. 62 and I'm still ready to do it again
Feeling the same way at 61.!!🤣🤣

I m with you.
Me at 68. I miss this ferocity.
Young people will never know the freedom of pre-police state fun!! And we all went to back to work on Monday. :-)
My god , 45 years ago. Where have the years gone ?
Love it Australia , Cowboy song ❤❤❤🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪 Irland Group Lizzy
The absolutely awesome Thin Lizzy.
Fucking aye
Gone so early......so much has happened since but Thin Lizzy's Music lives on.......first time you ever heard this song you said ya that's a Hit......
Awesome band, still sounds marvelous today as it did way back when.
Proving yet again, that timeless music is exactly that. They were an underrated band, at a time when classy rock n roll music was only beginning to gain exposure through programs such as Countdown. A great live band, proven by this video.
There will never be a band that cool and full of swagger again. Keep on “Rocking” Phil!!!😎
they are the OFFICIAL Band of Ireland! the hell with U2 and BONO, they WISH they could be this cool
I was there...
Brilliant gig, & FREE.
They don’t make em like they used to anymore..
Such a great performance. And damn did they all have some excellent hair!
Hell yeah 🎸🤘💕
Yes! Miss the long haired hippie bands of my youth😮💨💋
THE best band in history at their ceative peak with Gary Moore.
Saw them in 76 and 77.... utterly superb. RIP Phil x
Ur lying
I was at this gig they only did a few songs was a day and night show heaps of muso,s the angels played later and a dickhead in th crowd threw something and hit doc in the head, was new years eve😎
Frampton for me then Skynard
Historic too, NICE to know Greenie visited Australia during its life! Nice to see Gazza playing it! \m/
I was 19 .When I Saw this great band perform. At the opera house. What great talents Garry Moore and Phil Lynott were. Its a pity they are Gone.I am 64 and still listen to there music. And practice there music as a drummer.Live and Dangerous .Was one there best albums.
the drummer was on fire
That was a battle call for the weekend. Booze bitches and drugs. Burning the streets. Glory days brothers and sisters. Rock for ever
I was at the Marquee at a Wild Horses gig, the encore Scott Gorham came out with the band, next song Phil Lynott came out with the band, do I have to say it was amazing, one of those mind-blowing experiences, they played 4 songs one was Rosalie can't remember the others, Robbo and Scott were on the same stage, Jimmy Bain and PL on bass, it still makes me smile thinking about it, the power of music is an incredible thing.
That was a rare and historic even, you're so lucky to have witnessed it. It seems the Wild Horses guys loved having guest jams, I like the story of Michael Schenker jamming a gig with them in the '78-79 era when he was in town.
There will never be another time like this in history. Such a great time to be alive and having witnessed these great artists.
Some great drumming going on here - crazy fast shuffle - really drives the song.
A charismatic and talented man...lost to the scourge of drugs.
He never got the recognition he deserved. Yet he was a great, a very great. And rock is missing him.
A Black Irish guy back in the day, He was total genius!!!
Criminally underrated
What a SMASHING sound, such good looking ~ talented men . . .
I love Thin Lizzie!!!
Wish they’d been on my radar back in the day to see them live! 💟💗
I remember watching the live and dangerous concert in the loungeroom late one night while mum was doing the ironing watching as well.
THE BOYS ARE ON FIRE THIS SHOW!....GRATITUDE 🔥
I was there, great concert. RIP Phil.
They were Kickin ass that day !! 💥💥🚀🚀
I remember thin Lizzy when I was stationed in Germany in the eighty’s. The show was awesome. I saw many shows but theirs was the best. Keep the faith guys. 63 young
One of The best rock song ever
Gary and Phil fenian studs.
Gary was anti-war in general, also a protestant. Phil was born in England and raised down in the South and still visited his mum in Manchester frequently.
I really miss him he was my friend in school never for get him
Just the real freaking deal right there!
I had the pleasure to meet those amazing guys in Copenhagen when they was on their last tour. Very grate show. Very sad when he died. Rip
Inimitables. La mejor banda de rock forever.
Classic one of a kind…..notice how many chords the verse has….. almost jazz
3:18 "Get your knickers down" 😆
Quality 😂
Phil, the amazing Phil with one of the greatest ROCKBANDS of all time THIN LIZZY !!
Phil, Gary r.i.p. awesome performance
Very few, if not, any bass player would be able to double on the bass and sing with that kind of energy; and coupled with such rock and roll enigma.

Immortal Classic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Phil was, is, and will always be the best. Thanks for the music.
This takes me back to 1978 everytime.
That was a battle call for the weekend. Booze bitches and drugs. Burning the streets. Glory days brothers and sisters. Rock for ever
DA BITCHES!!!!
I saw them on this tour in Melbourne at the Meyer Music Bowl. I was 17 and it was epic!!
One of the great music regrets in my life was never getting to see Thin Lizzy (Phil Lynott era) in concert. What a great show that must have been!
IT'S JUST ME😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
Omg that drummer is killing it!! What a tight band!!!
Excellent, excellent band.
Both JAILBREAK AND BAD REPUTATION albums- so good they were BAD...
the sound of that guitar
Got this on DVD /thin Lizzy/Live in concert from Australia, found it in a charity shop for £3 absolute bargain
Great footage and songs.
I love finding little bargains like that. I found a rare early Genesis import in a charity shop.
First time I got to see these guys play! Freaking awesome!! Kudos to Phil!!!!
The boys are back.
one of the best riffs ever
2SM were a very cool radio station back in the 70's.
They put on some very good concerts.
This might be the concert where Thin Lizzy and Wha Koo had a fight backstage about who was going to TOP BILL.
Wha Koo had a massive #1 song at the time. (a one hit wonder)
Yep, "Fabulous Dancer". lol.
yea , well i hope the Lizzy boys kicked wha koos crappy arses ...
Was this in Australia? I’ve never heard of wha koo.
The greatest! RIP Phil Lynott. If you’re reading this, you my friend rock :)
Sound was awesome
Is there a film crew in the history of man that can film the guitar player during the guitar solo!?!?
yes but you wont be able to see his fingers and if for some reason you can see um, itll cut away as soon as he gets to the part youre trying to learn, every single time no matter what band or yr of footage.
One of the best live albums is Live and Dangerous
I'd say 'the' best.
Pretty much a peerless album.
Hate to be the one to burst the bubble, but there was very little "live" about Live and Dangerous unfortunately. The only thing that wasn't re-recorded in the studio is the drums and the crowd noises apparently.
And the best version of Cowboy Song (my fav tz toon) that goes right into boys are back in town on that record. Emerald also kills on this!!
Tear it the fuck up !!! THIN LIZZY FOREVER !!!
What a drummer !!!
Mark neuseef from usa😊
Igen, igen, itt vagyunk nézzük és hallgatjuk 2023-ban is!!
Tough enough singing playing six strings let alone bass! Awesome!
I respect the work of u2, but the best band in that region in is without a doubt Thin Lizzy
最高にカッコイイ。。カウボーイソングから続くのがまたいいんですよね😃ファットでウォームなレスポール二本なのも良い👍
Thin Lizzy > U2. Not even close. Phil Lynott is the real thing. Not a Bono. Ha ha
As always Phil's as hot as a California wild fire !!
Wow the " boys" are in good form!!
Killer song back then.
Still is
It still is
Killer On The Loose is a killer song too.
That's my start of summer song 😊
WOW WHAT A FANTASTIC BAND 👏 BEAN AND DONE THAT HIT HURT, S THEY ARE NOT HERE BUT WHEN YOU ARE PLAYING THIS MUSIC AND SONG IS ABOUT BOY,S IN MANCHESTER ENGLAND LOVE MANCHESTER AND ❤️ DUBLIN ❤
Man these guys rocked
Phil was a GOD. wish he was still around!!!!!
Sure did….Omg!!😻
Total Rock Classic!! ❤️ Love this!!
One of the coolest rock bands of the 70' s got to see them live on a hot summer night in El Paso. Texas way back in' 77. ✌ never forgot that show
I have this DVD!
It's Brilliant!
🤘🏻
😐:/Dont like this version😒:°
Amazing.
Phil never ever misses a beat. Never sings out of time or tune. Genius!
I feel so embarrassed and stupid. I always thought it was Tin Lizzy . But I liked their music.
That was a muthafuckin BAND!!!
I grew up in Dublin & Phil was very well known. Unmistakable in fact. Huge Afro sprayed on jeans & an Afghan coat. I heard them when they were Skid Row & even then they were fabulous
Song about , The New York Dolls......
" Down at Dino's " ( Maxes Kansas City )
I was born in 1978. Grew up on this music
Look out for Gary's solo on Me and the Boys!!!!!
Scott Goram...so fucking good.
Seen them 3 times n at 16 my favourite live band
The best Irish rock band there ever was or could be.
Love them too! Don’t know why they weren’t on my radar back in the day, young and dumb.
Special place in my heart for Rory Gallagher☘️also!
Even better than U2
I'll take these guys over that other Irish rock band any day. No whining to be had here. :)
@@garyc39clannad are a thousand times better than U2. U2 had a couple of very good albums in the 80s that they’ve had a 45 year career from.
Taste and Rory gallager
Gary Moore playing "Greeny."
El mas grande,Phill..
