NEW Ear Cleaner Trial | Auburn Medical Group

- A new ear wax cleaner, the Bionix Ear Lavage System, is used for the first time by Dr. Mark Vaughan to irrigate impacted cerumen from a patient's ears. It seems to be better at ear wax removal compared to other systems that we have used. It is fast, safe, comfortable, and easy to clean. The tips placed in the patient's ears are disposable.
We use about 10 to 10 ml of hydrogen peroxide in the 205 ml reservoir and top it off with warm water for each fill.
The lighted curettes were also provided by Bionix for use in this video.

What a sweet guy! Totally up for everything and you just know he is one of those people that would go out of their way to help someone and no expect anything in return. We definitely need more John's in this world! ... And I love this doctor, he's very personable and kind, asking his patients permission to use tools, what methods of procedures they prefer and even getting on their level by sitting on the exam table and explaining the extractor tool before usage. I've watched a few of these videos and this treatment between doctors and patients is so hard to find. So thank you for being so great to your patients and not treating them like a number. ☺

Love John! He reminds me of a younger version of grandpa on The Waltons! The mustache is incredible! Must remember to show my son! He was a trooper when you have him a choice for the left ear and he said "hit it with the blaster"! I agree with most it sounded loud and understand it was due to filming. My favorite was the lighted curette! So cool! Great content as always!
Thanks for another great video I love how he's game for anything that you want to try out on him but after seeing how impacted his ears are I can see why he's so cute. I have the opposite problem with my ears. I went to the Dr's one time because my ears were hurting so bad I was sure it was an infection. Then she told me that my ears were to clean meaning I didn't have any wax in them at all. I was told not to clean them so well when I told her I don't ever use anything in my ears except for the water when I shower. So I've always had to use something protecting my ears when it gets cold or they hurt really bad.

I was about to put my iPad down and go to sleep but then I see my favourite doctor has uploaded a video! So naturally I must watch. The ear washer to me sounded so loud that it would hurt my ears if I used it, my ears are quite sensitive as when I was younger I got repeated ear infections. fortunately I don't really have a wax issue yet though lol. I just love your patient. He's game for anything! I wonder if Amazon sells the ear cleaner. I have problems with wax in my ears from time to time. I know it's probably not the best way but I've gotten wax out with the backside of a hair pin already.
It's a portable water flosser. I have one, thought I recognized it. It does have some extra piece on the nozzle.
As a nursing student, something about ear cleaning is so satisfying hahaha. I feel like that sound might be a bit rough though!

well, you ARE different from most family doctors.... and congrats on having so many 10+ years patients!!!! where are u located? my mother in law is always complaining that she can't hear. & knows I'm always checking my boys ears & my husbands. but she has the tiniest ear canal in the world I swear I have a 3 yr old & even his are bigger than hers.

It was a fairly good amount. I agree.
I like using the ear wax curettes that have the stopper that only let you insert them in your ear so far so that you don't end up causing major trauma to your eardrum...those have been quite effective for removing cerumen from my ears, and something like carbamide peroxide/Debrox or hydrogen peroxide to soften it up if things are hard and crusty inside my ear canal. The water pick is probably a safer way to do things since anyone can do it even by themselves and with enough static pressure that it will actually flush the debris out without causing trauma to the ear canal or ear drum. Awesome video as always Dr. Vaughan, and remember that friends don't let friends clean their ears with cotton swabs (or their car keys for that matter).

This is true! Some of the objects that people insert in their ear canals still amazes me to this day.
Auburn Medical Group Pen caps. You know how Bic pens have the part that hangs down to go over your pocket? My dad uses those to clean his ears. It broke me of chewing on pens really quick. Eewwwwww.

The doctor I went to when my ear was full of wax used something like that, all I remember is sitting in the corner of the room crying because it hurt so much ;-; and whenever I see one now I shudder
That is so sad. It does not have to be painful. Good equipment combined with good technique result in patients feeling better instead of worse.

You know what is so odd...I look at your patient and I recognize him just because he looks like the people I knew or saw in CA when I lived there. However if I see another person who has the same facial features of him but are not from CA I can tell. It is hard to explain but I do believe CA natives have a certain tell about them that others can see.
