Best medical decision I’ve ever made…insisting on an appointment with an ENT! Within 15 minutes my ENT diagnosed my chronic sinus infections to a narrowing entrance to my sinuses. 1 surgery and 30 years later…zero sinus infections. They’re called “specialists” for a reason 👍

I had major sinus issues too. There were times I couldn't lie down, so had to sleep sitting up. Then my aunt taught me Jal neti and got me a neti pot. No problem since. Its been 20+ yrs. Taught the same to many people since, including 2 friends who are MD's themselves.

When I was little our Family Physician as they were called handled it all unless there was a problem, I had 3 brother's and we were very close in age. He was such a wonderful Dr., and man and friend to my family, so he took lots of time with us, and explained everything. So, this is how he would check our ears. I actually liked it. Lol. By the time we got home, we could check everything on all the baby dolls, pets and neighbors. Lol But they just don't have wonderful Dr's, like that anymore, he was our Dr., until he passed away. Actually, this is only one of many of her shorts. In most of her vids she uses the flushing method where a large amount of wax is removed with flushing first and if there's any remaining she uses the instrument. I'm guessing it either wasn't necessary with this patient or she already applied a softening agent before removing the wax.
I had to have this procedure after having brain surgery when blood had pooled in both ears and mixed with ear wax and hardened. I can't begin to describe the relief while she was flushing, and then when my ear canals were finally exposed when she used the instrument to remove the remaining clumps from both canals.

Am an ENT surgeon from India. This is not the way ear wax can be removed safely. One small movement by the patient can cause injuries. Ear syringing by sterile water or diluted povidone iodine is the safest method. If wax is still stubborn, a ear microscope is needed to evacuate the wax with specific instruments under magnified vision. Removal of impacted ear wax safely, is not as easy as it seems.

I know they're bad for you but I use Q-Tips. I had my ears cleaned in the local emergency room once and they used water. The problem was after they used water, I had the worst ear infection I think i may have ever had. It sucked not being able to hear right around Christmas. The problem now is I never get anything on the qtips though I clean my ears pretty much every day. Is there something I can use to actually clean my ears that won't risk the infection? I've tried Water and Peroxide but that doesn't always work. The insides of my ears sometimes itch and that drives me nuts.

You can do this at home. Head into Walmart to the eye and ear aisle. They have a whole row of wax removal kits. If you buy individual wax softening solution, get the ones made of 6.5% bicarbonate solution. It will bubble like vinegar and baking soda. They also have ear sprayers that just spray around the sides, no spray directly on ear drum. Generic brand is just as good as expensive name brands.
