My grandmother, the only last of my grandparents that I knew, died at the beginning of this year. The day I brought home my first child, my daughter, was the day she passed away. She went peacefully. This sweet lady reminds me of her. She always looked so beautiful everywhere she went! 🥰

I wish there was a lavage system that wasn't so noisy for the patient. They seem to be in some discomfort during the entire process. I do enjoy the videos, however, and both Drs. Gawayne and Mark have caring manners and good senses of humour. Dr. Mark, obviously has more experience; therefore seems a little more at ease, but Dr. Gawayne still seems like a super guy and someone I would be comfortable having as my doctor.
I think doctor Mark did a great job.. because everyone's geriatric they really needs to be 24 to 48-hour period of application of ear drops. When irrigating use warm water. I wouldn't say hot but good and warm. They should also be a regiment of maintenance when I maintenance when I get home. These folks wearing hearing aids can cause bleeding and black wax. We got to figure a way to get the tip of the irrigator to oscillate without all that pressing and rubbing. And I wonder if it would be more effective to have the patient in a horizontal position with the ear down. And if anything it would keep them more relaxed.I'll let you guys know when I devised the right formula for a more aggressive wax dissolving fluid. Overall it was a good job I think everybody needs to be in a more relaxed position to prevent continual resetting. We went to patient to feel a great relief

This is something new...when I was a nurse doctor would order ear drops ...3 drops for 3 days ..then flush with warm water with a large Toomey syringe always cleaned ears out very good...the drops were called debrox this would loosen the cerebrum

Hi. Maybe use a drop of Sunlight Dish soap in the warm water to break up the wax? When I am shampooing my hair in the shower, Icup my hands around the ears to direct the shampoo and water into the ears to rinse out any wax. I avoid using Q-tips. When blow-drying my short hair, I hang my head down to dry, tilt to let any water out of the ears. The ears air dry on their own. Too bad I have tinnitus. Caused by a lot of sinus infections as a child. BUT MY EARS ARE REALLY CLEAN.😀😀😀
I've been wondering when Dr. Gawayne was going to make another appearance. Glad to see him back again! Hopefully we see him more often in the future. I can't pick a favorite technique since they both have their merits. I just thoroughly enjoy watching you two clean up your patients ears! :)

Dr. Gawayne, I suppose the tweezers were metal. *Why use the tweezers,* a metal instrument? I would think the tweezers make it easier to injure or perforate the eardrum versus the plastic curette which has a blunted end making it a safer object. Of course that is just my non-Doctor opinion. 😊 Thank you.
Cute doctor, but job was not done as you left a huge chunk of wax in her left ear. I think you should also invest in some more effective equipments such as a suction machine and a pair of crocodile forceps. Nice, soothing personality of a doctor tho!
I've seen videos of some Dr's wearing a lamp on their forehead and putting a metal thing ( like when pouring things into a small bottle ) in the ear canal and cleaning it out that way.
Have you ever tried dry mopping of the ear canal after irrigation ? Nick Chitty is an amazing audiologist and he uses the technique to great effect.It's really nice to see you Dr. Gwayne but I'll admit that I prefer Dr. Vaughns method. Great video, thanks. Xx
I have had to have this done since I was in my 20’s. Never had a machine always a manual water sprayer. Mine are black and right in front of my eardrum. Hard to get a doctor to do this for me, they seem to hate it. They yell at me to put drops in them or clean them with an at home kit. Those kits are useless.

Bless her they are false as the left one was coming off but i tell you what she's a sassy lady and when I'm her age I hope to goodness I look as together as she does!!!
She most likely went more often because of how built up it got....plus majority was out...rather leave the little bit there than damage her ear canal..that was quite a bit of flushing...she even said it was getting sore...what they used is pretty much a water floss...which even on the lowest setting can be quite harsh...better to leave that little bit and get it another time, than damage her ear canal

The curette cannot grab the cerumen. It can only scrape against the canal when the cerumen is sticking out like this.
